    The nominations for this year’s AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS have been announced.

    Carrie Underwood is up for two awards including Favorite Country Album (Denim & Rhinestones) and Favorite Female Country Artist.

    Chris Stapleton is also nominated for two awards including Favorite Country Song (“You Should Probably Leave”) and Favorite Male Country Artist.

    Jordan Davis is nominated for Favorite Country Song for his two-week No. 1 song “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan.

    The 2022 American Music Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on November 20th at 8pm ET/5p PT on ABC.

    “I hope when fans listen to the album, Denim & Rhinestones, that they just feel happy. When we set out to make this entire project, I walked in the writing room with my co-producer David (Garcia), and he’s like, ‘Well, what are we doing? What do you want to do?’ And I said, I just want to have fun. I feel like over the past couple of years, everybody’s been a little cooped up and just need some fun in their lives. You know, thinking about taking all of these songs on the road, I just wanted to think about as we were writing and as I was choosing songs, which ones would be great live. I love this album so much. It makes me happy. I hope they learn a little bit more about my musical influences and things that I like, because I feel like a lot of those just worked their way into this album. But, most of all, I just want them to feel happy, I want them to dance, I want them to sing and just have a good time with it.”

    “We took a writer’s retreat a little south of Nashville, me and three of my favorite writers in the world – Matt Jenkins, Josh Jenkins and my brother Jacob. We started every day – we were down there three days – and we started every day with coffee on the back porch, and Josh would lead us in some type of devotional. He would find some scripture and then we would just kind of chew on it for a little bit. That day he had read, and I need to remember the exact scripture, but it was something about being planted, being planted in the dirt and having a strong root system so you can weather storms and rain. That is really the start of ‘Buy Dirt.’ And I don’t know if that song comes if we don’t wake up early and get out there and kind of start talking about real life. That was where it all started, and I’m grateful, grateful that I (laughs) didn’t sleep in that day.”

    Mickey Guyton will perform on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Tuesday (September 13th) during the show’s premiere week. Check local listings for time and channel.

    Jon Pardi will perform on The Talk on Tuesday (September 13th) on CBS.

    Little Big Town will perform on NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (September 14th) followed by a performance on NBC’s Today Show’s Citi Concert Series on Friday (September 16th).

    Luke Bryan and Chris Stapleton are set to headline next year’s Stagecoach Festival April 28th – 30th in India, California, along with Kane Brown. The three-day festival will also feature performances by Jon Pardi, Parker McCollum, Priscilla Block, Brooks and Dunn, Elle King, Breland, Nelly, Old Dominion, Gabby Barrett, Lainey Wilson and many more. Tickets and passes go on sale this Friday (September 16th) at 1pm ET.

    Reba McEntire is set to appear on ABC’s Live With Kelly & Ryan on September 22nd.

  • CHRIS STAPLETON AND SHANIA TWAIN ARE FETED AT THIS YEAR’S ACM HONORS.

    Chris Stapleton and Shania Twain were among the recipients of the Special Awards for the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards.

    Chris received the ACM Spirit Award, which is presented to a singer-songwriter who’s continuing the legacy of Country Music legend Merle Haggard by following his/her own path, crafting great songs and epitomizing The Hag’s spirit through compelling performances and great storytelling.

    Shania, along with tunesmith Sonny Throckmorton, received the ACM Poet’s Award, which is given to a Country Music songwriter for outstanding and longstanding musical and/or lyrical contributions throughout their career, with special consideration given to a song or songs’ impact on the culture of Country Music.

    Little Big Town honored Miranda Lambert with the ACM Triple Crown Award. Other honorees include HARDY (ACM Songwriter of the Year), Connie Bradley (ACM Icon Award), Paul Barnabee and Dwight Wiles (ACM Lifting Lives Award), Morgan Wallen (ACM Milestone Award), Duane Clark (ACM Service Award) and the TV show Yellowstone (ACM Film Award).

    “Well, you’re in the Mother Church, you know, first of all. This is a special building. This is kind of ground zero for the foundations of what we know to be country music, a lot of it. Great people have come through this building and stood on that stage. Anytime you walk in here, it’s a special place, but to stand on that stage and accept an award that draws some comparisons between you and someone who’s obviously as important to country music as Merle Haggard, that’s very, honored is probably not even a big enough word.”

    The nominations for the 56th Annual CMA Awards have been announced. Lainey Wilson leads the list of nominees with six nods.

    Chris Stapleton has five nominations including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year (“I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”), Single and Song of the Year for “You Should Probably Leave.”

    With this year’s five nods, Stapleton has amassed 39 career nominations. He is a six-time nominee for Entertainer of the Year and an eight-time nominee for Male Vocalist, a category he has won five times. “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” collects Stapleton his third nomination for Music Video, a category he won in 2016. The video is directed by Lively and is performed with 27-time nominee Taylor Swift. “You Should Probably Leave” marks Stapleton’s fifth nomination for Single of the Year and third nomination for Song. He is a two-time winner in both categories, claiming both trophies in 2018 and 2021. Stapleton co-produced the single with Dave Cobb and it was mixed by Vance Powell. He co-wrote the song with Chris DuBois and Ashley Gorley.

    Carrie Underwood earned three nominations including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year for “If I Didn’t Love You” with Jason Aldean.

    With this year’s nominations, Underwood has garnered 40 career nods since 2006. This year marks her 16th nomination for Female Vocalist, a trophy she’s claimed five times. She is a four-time nominee for Musical Event, earning a nod this year for “If I Didn’t Love You,” a duet with Jason Aldean produced by Michael Knox. She collects her fifth nomination for the night’s most coveted trophy, Entertainer of the Year.

    Jordan Davis picked up two CMA nominations for Single of the Year for the multi-week No. 1 single “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan (who is also nominated); and for Song of the Year for “Buy Dirt,” which he wrote with his brother Jacob Davis (who earned his first CMA nomination), along with Matt and Josh Jenkins.

    Jon Pardi also picked up a pair of nominations for his collaboration with Midland on “Longneck Way To Go” for Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year. The song also appears on Jon’s brand new album, Mr. Saturday Night.

    2020’s Entertainer of the Year Eric Church earned a nod for Male Vocalist of the Year, while Little Big Town earned a nomination for Vocal Group of the Year, a category which they’ve won SIX times!

    Reigning CMA Vocal Duo of the Year Brothers Osborne and Maddie & Tae pick up nods for Vocal Duo of the Year.

    Dierks Bentley is nominated along with BRELAND and HARDY for Musical Event of the Year for the trio’s chart-topping tune, “Beers On Me.”

    Taylor Swift received five nominations for MTV’s Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year, Best Longform Video, Best Cinematography, Best Direction and Best Editing.

    Shania Twain‘s new documentary, Not Just A Girl, is now available for streaming on Netflix.

    In addition, Shania has also released a companion album, Not Just A Girl (The Highlights).

     

    Chris Stapleton has been added to the list of performers at this year’s Farm Aid. The festival, featuring performances by co-founders Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp, as well as Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow, Margo Price and Brittney Spencer, will take place at Coastal Credit Union Music Park in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 24th. Tickets go on sale July 30th.

    Alan Jackson made a wonderful announcement on his socials this week. There’s a new addition to the Jackson clan — Alan’s daughter, Ali, is pregnant with the country superstar’s first grandchild, a boy, who is due in December.

    If you’re watching Netflix and come across the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair’s three-part docuseries, you might hear a familiar voice. Wrestling fan (and Ric Flair’s biggest fan) Darius Rucker is narrating the documentary, Ric Flair: The Last Match, about the wrestling legend’s life and career, which is all leading up to his last match, scheduled to take place in Nashville on July 31st.

    Carrie Underwood will help honor the legendary Country Music Hall of Famer, Barbara Mandrell, on her 50th Anniversary as a member of the Opry family with two shows at the Grand Ole Opry July 30th. Carrie, who has lauded Mandrell as one of her musical and professional inspirations, is scheduled to perform and help honor the music legend who will be in attendance at both shows. More artists will be announced soon.

    A new exhibit titled Chris Stapleton: Since 1978 is set to open July 1st, 2022 and will run through May 14th, 2023. The exhibit will follow the superstar’s career, starting with his birth in 1978 -hence the title of the exhibit- in eastern Kentucky and will highlight his journey to Nashville, life as a songwriter and his meteoric rise as an artist.

    Carrie Underwood will perform on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (June 14th).

    Chris Stapleton had a very special guest come up to sing with him and his wife Morgane during his L.A. show on Friday (June 10th). His pal and superstar Justin Timberlake got up to sing what has been reported as a nearly 12-minute version of Tennessee Whiskey at the legendary Forum in Inglewood. He started with singing his bandmember intros and

    Vince Gill had the honor of inviting two legends to become members of the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night (June 11th). He extended the invitation to musician Charlie McCoy and hit tunesmith Don Schlitz, both already in the Country Music Hall of Fame, to be the next members of the Grand Ole Opry. The invitation marks the first time the Opry has invited two entertainers to become Opry members in the same night since it became a tradition to make the surprise invitations in public.

    Luke Bryan will appear on Live With Kelly and Ryan on June 22nd, along with his fellow American Idol judges, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

    Reba McEntire has joined the cast of ABC’s Big Sky as a series regular for Season 3. She’ll star as Sunny Brick, the matriarch of the Brick family, described as a “successful backcountry outfitter with a secret history of missing customers.”


    Little Big Town     are among the artists joining Wynonna as she embarks on The Judds final tour solo this fall after the unexpected and tragic death of her mother Naomi. Martina McBride (originally on the bill), along with Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Ashley McBryde and Brandi Carlile will also hit the road with Wy.

    Luke Bryan  and Chris Stapleton honored the legendary Lionel Richie during the star-studded PBS special, Lionel Richie: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Luke, seated at a piano, performed “Lady,” which was written by Lionel for the late Kenny Rogers. Chris performed “Say You, Say Me.”

    Taylor Swift gave the commencement speech to the class of 2022 at New York University this week, and she was awarded a doctorate degree, as well.

    Sam Hunt will join acclaimed hit songwriter and founder of Big Loud Records and Big Loud Shirt, Craig Wiseman, for the 2022 Second Harvest benefit concert presented by American Airlines. Stars for Second Harvest will be held at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday, June 7th at 7:30pm. Country singer-songwriters ERNEST and Ben Burgess will also perform.

    Chris Stapleton proves you can go home again, and he did so in a huge way this past weekend. After a two-year delay, he was finally able to headline his benefit show, A Concert For Kentucky, which was held at Kroger Field at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. The first-ever music concert at the field, featuring over 55,000 in attendance, also showcased performances by Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow and newcomer Madeline Edwards.

    Proceeds from A Concert For Kentucky went to Chris and Morgane’s Outlaw State of Kind Hometown Fund, established to support local and national organizations. The fund has helped thousands of organizations including, but not limited to, Red Cross, Farm Aid, City of Hope, Blue Grass Community Foundation, Music Health Alliance, MusiCares, Mr. Holland’s Opus, March of Dimes, Feeding America and Habitat for Humanity.

    Chris also surprised the senior class of his alma mater, Johnson Central High School in Paintsville, Kentucky, by giving tickets to the entire class of 2022 to attend the show, even providing transportation to and from the concert.

    The Kentucky native, who is making his way up the charts with his latest song “Joy of My Life,” is taking his All-American Roadshow north of the border this weekend with shows on Thursday (April 28th) in London, Ontario, Friday (April 29th) in Ottawa, Ontario and Saturday (April 30th) in Montreal, Quebec.

    “Well, you certainly gain an appreciation for what we had lost, which was getting to interact with people every night and hear people sing songs back to you and see smiles on their faces and people having a good time and the communion that that brings. It’s a wonderful thing. And we certainly missed it. It was 504 days, I think, we didn’t play a show. So, we were certainly counting the days and the hours until we got to do it again.”
