JOSH TURNER WILL PAY TRIBUTE TO RANDY TRAVIS TOMORROW NIGHT.
Artist
Josh Turner

Josh Turner will be among the artists celebrating the life and career of his hero, Randy Travis, on Wednesday (February 8th) at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The concert event, 1 Night, 1 Place, 1 Time: A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis, will also include performances by Garth Brooks, Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Chris Young, Jeff Foxworthy, Michael Ray, Scotty McCreery, Wynonna, Mark Chesnutt, Kane Brown, Chris Janson, Joe Nichols, Travis Tritt and many others. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Randy Travis Foundation for stroke research and rehabilitation.

Josh, who says he probably wouldn’t have a career if it wasn’t for Randy Travis, will perform “Three Wooden Crosses,” which Randy took to the top of the charts in 2003.

“Randy was the guy that basically got me thinking about doing this for a living. Had it not been for Randy, I don’t know if I would’ve had this passion in me to leave my home and everything I knew and come to a strange town and chase something that wasn’t guaranteed,” says Josh. “But Randy made it seem like ordinary guys could come and be a star, you know? He’s also taught me too that there’s more to it than just the stardom part of it. It’s all about how you treat people. It’s working hard; it’s maintaining an image; it’s maintaining your voice and your craft and just delivering quality to the fans year after year. He’s set that standard for guys like me, and I try to live up to that as much as I can.”

Josh is currently making his way up the country charts (nearing Top 15) with his latest single, “Hometown Girl,” from his upcoming album, Deep South, which is available March 10th.

Audio / Josh Turner says Randy Travis is the one who helped put him on the path of pursuing his dream of becoming a country singer.

Josh Turner (Randy Travis) 2 OC: …he loved that. :24
“He’s not only been a hero of mine, but he’s been a friend. I’ve tried to return that favor to him since the stroke. I’ve been to visit him in the hospital. I’ve had him out to shows of mine on the road. He was out at my house at the end of last year, and my boys were all playing their instruments for him and everything. It just brought a smile to his face, so he loved that.”
