• LUKE BRYAN WILL MENTOR BLAKE SHELTON’S TEAM ON ‘THE VOICE.’

Luke Bryan will join NBC’s The Voice as Blake Shelton’s team mentor, helping guide the contestants through the battle rounds. Luke taped his episodes in L.A. last week, according to The Tennessean. “I enjoy being in the moment with those artists and in my gut feeling, tell them the best thing I can tell them and really lift them up,” he said. “I think I get lost in the shuffle in the media of the guy who dances on stage. I think people don’t realize that I moved to town, wrote songs and got a record deal. Early in my career, I was so nervous about big moments, I didn’t even enjoy them. I just want to help these people settle into who they are and enjoy the moment.”

The two have been friends for a long time, and the pair co-hosted the ACM Awards for a few years. Luke admires the fact that Blake always seems to be in a good mood. “We’re comfortable in who we are and Blake even more than I am,” says Luke. “Blake is not scared to do anything. He’s a hilarious guy, and he’s that way every day. You’re never around Blake and see him in a bad mood, and rarely am I in a bad mood.”

Season 12 of The Voice will premiere February 27th on NBC.

Luke, who’s climbing the country charts with his latest single “Fast,” will perform the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl February 5th.

As Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley stepped on Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena stage tonight for the first time as a headliner, he immediately earned a deafening welcome from a sold-out crowd in Music City, that stayed on their feet for more than two hours until the very last note.

“You have no idea how much this night meant to me and the guys. This is a Stanley Cup…game seven of the World Series kind of night,” said Bentley. “I have my home team, my home crowd and I hope to leave the stage with no voice as a sign I did the job right. Thank you for making this one of the best nights of my life.”

Between chart-topping hits that kicked off his career like “What Was I Thinking’” to his current critically acclaimed “Black,” Bentley surprised fans when collaborator and friend Elle King joined him onstage to perform the CMA award-winning and GRAMMY nominated No. One hit “Different For Girls.” After challenging himself to covering George Strait each night of the tour, Bentley invited opener Jon Pardi back for “Carrying Your Love With Me,” before Cole Swindell returned for his latest single “Flatliner” with Bentley. To cap off the night, the encore’s “Drunk On A Plane” included Kelsea Ballerini, King, Swindell and Pardi.

Bentley is known for getting “stronger and stronger with every release and is one of the few artists that can go from bluegrass to country” (Billboard) as he recently released his eight studio album BLACK. The title-track from Bentley’s “most fully-formed LP of his career” (TIME) serves as his latest single, while its music video serves as a “passionate storyline” with the “perfect accompaniment to the personal message of both the song and the album” (Rolling Stone). After debuting at the No. One position on Billboard’s Top Albums Chart and Top Country Albums chart, the critically-acclaimed album has already spawned two No. One hits, the PLATINUM certified chart-topping hit “Somewhere On A Beach” and GOLD and GRAMMY nominated “Different For Girls” featuring Elle King. Bentley has now amassed 15 No. one songs, 13 GRAMMY nominations and is a recent CMA Award winner for Vocal Event of the Year. “The bluegrass  picker,  the  love  song  singer  and  the stadium rocker all packaged together” (Associated Press) has been a Grand Ole Opry member for over a decade and “has developed a rapport with his fans as a live performer that artists possessing 10 times as much headlining experience can’t boast”(Charlotte Observer). Luke Bryan will sing the National Anthem as part of Super Bowl LI (51) pregame festivities at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday, February 5th, the NFL and FOX announced today. The performance will be televised live on FOX prior to kickoff.

The Super Bowl is annually the most-watched television program. Bryan’s performance of the National Anthem in Houston will be his first time appearing at the Big Game.

He joins the ranks of many great performers who have sang the Super Bowl National Anthem including: Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Lady Gaga, Idina Menzel, Alicia Keys, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Whitney Houston, Harry Connick Jr., Vanessa Williams, Luther Vandross, Cher, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and many more.

Luke is a two-time Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year and has hosted the ACM Awards for four consecutive years. The NFL previously announced LADY GAGA, who performed the National Anthem prior to Super Bowl 50, will headline the Pepsi Zero Sugar Super Bowl LI Halftime Show.

In an article on Peoplecountry.com, Luke says he’d be pulling for his Atlanta Falcons. The singer admits he is playing favorites among the final four teams vying for the Super Bowl spots. “I’ve to lean toward my Georgia roots,” the Leesburg native says. “I’m a huge Atlanta Falcons fan and it would be amazing if my Falcons make it.” But either way, “I’ll be focused on the anthem. And once I walk off that field and shake off that pressure, I’ll be ready to enjoy some football.”

  • DIERKS BENTLEY LAUNCHES HIS ‘WHAT THE HELL TOUR.’

Dierks Bentley kicks off his What the Hell Tour Thursday (January 19th) in Dayton, Ohio. He’s taking along Jon Pardi and Cole Swindell.

He’s known both of his opening acts for a long time, and he can’t imagine a more perfect name for this new tour.

“This is going to be such a fun tour. I meant that’s the reason why I call it the What the Hell Tour, because both these guys are so fun. I’ve known ‘em now for a long time. I mean, I’ve known Cole since he was selling T-shirts for Luke…His heart is into what he’s doing. He’s so grateful and thankful and is making great records. He’s going out there and his live show is so good. I mean, he really has a great live show,” says Dierks. “And then Jon Pardi is just that. He is a party. He is a big voice, big personality, down-to-earth, but at the same time he’s not afraid to bust on ya and give ya some crap, and he has some hit songs. The song he has out now, which I was so thankful he made a single – ‘Dirt on My Boots’ is such a good song. It’s traditional, but still kind of leans forward and has a modern sound to it and his voice is so good on it. His whole record is so good. So, yeah, it’s gonna be that kind of tour. What the Hell is the perfect name for this tour with Jon and Cole.”

The trek heads to Louisville on Friday (January 20th) and Nashville on Saturday (January 21st).

I men, I’ve known Cole since he was selling T-shirts for Luke. I always tell this story, but I have Cole’s name in my phone, his name is C-O-L-E, but I have as C-O-A-L, because when I met him, I didn’t know how to spell his name. It was just Coal. I’ve kept it that way. I’ve known him that long, and to watch the success he’s had, he loves it, man. His heart is into what he’s doing. He’s so grateful and thankful and is making great records. He’s going out there and his live show is so good. I mean, he really has a great live show. You can tell he’s been watching other people’s stuff and also implementing his own ideas. It’s just gonna be fun! And then Jon Pardi is  just that. He is a party. Lady A (You Look Good) OC: (Dave) …playing it live. 1:28
CHARLES: “This song, I mean it is fun. It’s hard to listen to this without having a bit of a smile on your face. And we wanted it to sound different and be kind of be a little bit of a curveball when it came out. We’ve never had horns on a song. This is one of Hillary’s dreams come true.” HILLARY: “Oh my gosh yes. I grew up listening to so many different types of music, and I always just felt like they take you, they transport you to a different place, to a  really fun place I think of New Orleans and a different parts of the world that you hear music with horns and you feel it. It’s got a soul to it, and so we felt like this was the perfect choice. It’s we’re, honestly, closer and tighter and better friends than we’ve been since we started this band over 10 years ago. It’s just, it’s fun. I love that we can play off of each other on stage, and it showcases what all three of us individually do well and then what we do well together.” DAVE: “Yeah, this song really represents to me the feeling we had when we started as a band in 2006, and we worked really hard to get back to that this go’round. We spent a handful of time in Florida and a handful of time in L.A., and then finished the record back here in Nashville. We’ve never had this kind of time on our side like we’ve had now, except when we started out 10 years ago. So, the youthfulness and the energy in the song is what really drew us to it, fell in love with it, cut it and it’s just so much fun. It’s such a party playing it live.”

  • ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL® HONORS DARIUS RUCKER.

Rucker received the prestigious Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award, which recognizes individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit. Rucker is a staunch supporter who has championed the lifesaving mission of St. Jude for several years – lending his talented voice and passionate heart to raise funds and awareness for the hospital.

In 2016, Rucker hosted the seventh consecutive, star-studded Darius Rucker and Friends benefit, a sold-out concert that featured performances by Charley Pride, Hunter Hayes, Drake White, Terri Clark, LOCASH and Scotty McCreery. The annual event has raised more than $800,000 for St. Jude, helping to ensure families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

In 2015, Rucker recorded “Possibilities,” a song inspired by courageous St. Jude patient Brennan. Rucker heard the tune when Brennan presented it to him, and he later recorded it at a session in Memphis with the help of patients at the hospital.

Rucker was surprised during the event with a $50,000 donation to St. Jude, given in his honor from ACM Lifting Lives, in recognition of Rucker’s charitable spirit and work with both St. Jude and the Academy of Country Music’s charitable arm. ACM Lifting Lives works to improve lives through the power of music.

“Darius Rucker’s generosity, passion and humanitarian spirit inspire us all, and we are honored to recognize him with this well-deserved award,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “His numerous contributions and generous donations are a testament to his continued commitment to helping St. Jude save the lives of children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases around the world. We are extremely grateful for the support of Darius and countless other country music artists who lend their hearts, time and talent to help further our mission.”

This award places Rucker among the ranks of only four past recipients, including ALABAMA front man and co-founder of Country Cares for St. Jude Kids, Randy Owen for whom the award is named, country artist John Rich, former ALSAC Chief Operating Officer David McKee (posthumously) and St. Jude Country Cares Advisory Council member, Sharon Eaves (posthumously).

Rucker first gained fame as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the GRAMMY Award-winning American rock band Hootie & the Blowfish. Since then, he has dominated country music charts as a solo artist. Rucker recently signed on as host for the second season of “Reel South,” an anthology series highlighting 12 non-fiction stories from across the country, celebrating America’s rich tradition of southern comfort.

Country Cares for St. Jude Kids is recognized as one of the largest country music industry gatherings in the nation and brings thousands of country music industry leaders together to support the lifesaving work of St. Jude. Since 1989, the program has raised more than $650 million for the kids of St. Jude. Participants in the weekend event include country music artists, record label management, radio station general managers, promotions staff, national sales managers, program directors, and on-air staff who seek inspiration and to gain personal experiences that will help them promote and encourage support for St. Jude.

About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
