• DIERKS BENTLEY WILL BE MR. POTATO HEAD FOR HALLOWEEN.

Dierks Bentley will be forgoing Monday night’s (October 31st) ASCAP Awards to dress up as Mr. Potato Head for Halloween. This year, his whole family – Dierks, wife Cassidy, daughters Evie and Jordan, as well as son Knox) will be going as some of the beloved characters from Toy Story.

“The costumes are always picked out by our kids, and this year they wanted to do Toy Story. So, I thought maybe I’d get Woody. No. I thought maybe I’d get Buzz Lightyear. No. I got Mr. Potato Head. Yeah, I’m very cool. I’m gonna make him cool. I’m bringing sexy back to Mr. Potato Head. They’ve got a Mrs. Potato Head too, so Cass is Mrs. Potato Head. So, we’re going as the, yeah, Toy Story,” says Dierks. “Let’s see, so we’re Potato Heads, Evie is Little Bo Peep, Jordan is the cowgirl. I can’t think of her name. Jessie! Jordan is Jessie, and then Knox is Buzz Lightyear. We got a little Buzz Lightyear costume for him, which is pretty strong.”

Some previous costumes for the Bentleys included The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka, where Cass was Violet and dressed as a big blueberry, while the girls went as Oompa Loompas.

Dierks is set to perform on Good Morning America on Wednesday morning from Nashville, as well as on the 50th Annual CMA Awards, where he has four nominations, including Male, Album (Black), Video (“Somewhere on a Beach”) and Musical Event of the Year with Elle King for “Different for Girls.”

  • DIERKS BENTLEY WILL GET UP EARLY FOR A FREE SHOW THE MORNING OF THE CMA AWARDS.

Dierks Bentley will be getting up really early on Wednesday (November 2nd) to perform a free concert the morning of this year’s CMA Awards. The show is set to take place on the plaza leading into Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena from 6a – 8a CT and will air on ABC’s Good Morning America.

“I’m coming from a little thing I’m doing down in Orlando the night before, but I wouldn’t miss the opportunity to be part of this Good Morning America performance,” says Dierks. “That’s where I got my start playing those bars down there. You dream of playing the CMAs and getting on that show and now to have a chance to kick off the whole night with a show that morning on that stage they build out there and just seeing the people packed in amongst all the buildings down on Lower Broadway…Lower Broadway is just so important to me and the CMAs are so important to me, so to have those two worlds collide and to start the day off with that performance is a huge honor. It sounds like a lot of fun. I don’t care if it’s two o’clock in the morning. I don’t care. [laughs] I haven’t slept in a long, long time anyway, so it doesn’t matter what time the shows are. I love it and the guys in the band are already excited about it, so we’ll be really fired up to be out there.

“I’m coming from a little thing I’m doing down in Orlando the night before, but I wouldn’t miss the opportunity to be part of this Good Morning America performance. I think Keith Urban did it last year. I remember seeing all those people down there on Lower Broadway. That’s where I got my start playing those bars down there. You dream of playing the CMAs and getting on that show and now to have a chance to kick off the whole night with a show that morning on that stage they build out there and just seeing the people packed in amongst all the buildings down on Lower Broadway. I own a building down there now. I’m starting a bar down there, and I’ll probably be able to see it from the stage. Lower Broadway is just so important to me and the CMAs are so important to me, so to have those two worlds collide and to start the day off with that performance is a huge honor. And all these country fans that come in from all over  the country, from all over the world they come in for the CMA Awards, so it’s gonna be a really fun party atmosphere right there on Lower Broadway in the morning there.”

AJ (Precious Memories II) OC: …and simple. :34
“It’s just really overwhelming how many people have enjoyed this album. So, of course, ever since I made the first one, they’re like, ‘When [are] you going to make another one?’ (laughs) That’s all I’ve heard now for…(laughs) ‘When [are] you going to make another one?’ We had so many songs, of course, that we didn’t get to do on the first one , but…and Denise sat down and helped me pick out some more this time, and…that’s where we’re at. I just…we tried to just go in and do it just like the first one – just heartfelt and simple.”

Audio / Alan Jackson shares his thoughts on why the songs he recorded for Precious Memories Volume II endure and resonate with people.

AJ (Precious Memories songs resonate) OC: …that sound. 1:03
“They’re a lot like country songs. They’re memorable melodies, and they’re well-written subjects that appeal to common people. And I think just…when you really start listening to those songs, as a songwriter now I’m especially amazed at how good they are, you know, in the melodies. And even some of the melodies are similar, almost, to a country song. And I think that’s why I – one reason I love ‘em. And I think people that grew up in church, it’s…you know, it’s not unlike your young days in high school and whatever you listened to on the radio, you know? Those are songs that [when] you hear them now, they really take you back to that feeling of that moment. And I think that’s what these songs do for people that heard ‘em every Sunday and especially like the church I went to had a big ol’ pipe organ and a piano and that was just a monstrous sound. It was very – even though I wasn’t that crazy about being at church when I was a young man, that music – I loved that sound.”

  • KIP MOORE RELEASES HIS UNDERGROUND EP TODAY.

    KM-300x250

Kip Moore‘s UNDERGROUND EP is available today here. Critics have been quick to praise the five-track collection that Moore felt inspired to release for his loyal fans, with Sounds Likes Nashville highlighting that the EP “continues to showcase Moore’s songwriting chops.”  Leading up to the release, fans were able to preview songs including “My Kind” that Rolling Stone heralds as “a sturdy, defiant track that features Moore proudly aligning himself with normal, rough-around-the-edges folks,” as well as “All Time Low,” “an arena-ready anthem, Moore’s vocals and lyrics shine alongside a heavy bass beat” (Taste Of Country.)

Multiple tracks on UNDERGROUND were recorded live, and fans can experience the new songs as Moore continues his headlining ME AND MY KIND TOUR throughout the fall, this weekend playing a sold-out show in St. Paul, MN (10/28) and continuing on to Madison, WI (10/29.)

UNDERGROUND follows the release of Moore’s critically acclaimed sophomore album WILD ONES that The Guardian declared as “an impressively singular release from Music Row… unlike anything else in country music,” as well as his debut album UP ALL NIGHT which was certified GOLD by the RIAA and spawned three No. One hit singles including GOLD certified “Beer Money,” PLATINUM certified “Hey Pretty Girl,” and the DOUBLE PLATINUM breakout hit “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck.” A constant road warrior, Moore’s headlining ME AND MY KIND TOUR follows a characteristically relentless touring schedule, that kicked off at the beginning of the year with a sold-out tour in the US and Canada, a stint in Australia for the first time and headlining shows in The UK and Ireland that, due to demand, led to bigger venues being scheduled as well as closing out the run with a sold-out date in London, UK. Moore recently wrapped his summer stint being “met with more deafening applause” (CMT) out on the road with Miranda Lambert. For more information and a full list of tour dates, visit kipmoore.net.

  • JON PARDI CELEBRATES HIS FIRST NO. 1 SINGLE, ‘HEAD OVER BOOTS.’

Jon Pardi celebrated his long-awaited first No. 1 single, “Head Over Boots,” with a party at BMI in Nashville on Tuesday (October 25th). The California native co-wrote the tune with Luke Laird, who was celebrating his 22nd chart-topper.

“We’ve been working at it for a while now, and it’s been a great path to here. It’s even more exciting and just awesome in general to come here with a second record, first No. 1, you got a fan base and finally you can say, ’Boom! We did it!’ Just kinda keep marching, but it’s definitely going to another level, which is good.”

Jon’s co-writer, Luke Laird, said he sought Jon out to write with him. “I was such a huge fan of his first record, I actually seeked him out, tried to get my wife Beth, I’m like, ‘Can you find out a way I cann write with Jon Pardi?’ (JON: “Which is awesome.”) I was just a fan, but when Jon sits down with a guitar, just what he does naturally is already so unique. It’s like so country like you’ve heard it before, like you’ve never heard it before, and when I’m trying to work with artists, that’s what I look for,” says Luke. “I just loved that we could just write a straight-ahead country song and not worried about having to do all sorts of tricks and whatever. It was just completely authentic to who Jon is as an artist and it was just him being himself, and I was just fortunate enough to be along for the ride.”

Jon is currently making his way up the country charts with the follow-up, “Dirt on My Boots.”

We did it!’ Just kinda keep marching, but it’s definitely going to another level, which is good. My life is still writing songs and playing shows every weekend, so not much has changed there, you know?”

Audio / Jon Pardi says it’s fun to have a hit song.

“It’s a good feeling to know as a songwriter that you kinda had that vision and it came true, and I think when you’re a songwriter, you really try to work at that and you can see it live. After everything is all said and done, it’s really fun. There’s a connection when people are dancing and laughing and singing, and that definitely happens with ‘Head Over Boots.’”

Audio / Songwriter Luke Laird talks about writing “Head Over Boots” with Jon Pardi.

Luke Laird (Head Over Boots) OC: …for the ride. 1:07
“Jon literally came in, sat down, started playing that shuffle groove, had the title, sang the first few lines, so I was like the lucky guy in the room that day. From the first time I heard Jon – I was such a huge fan of his first record, I actually seeked him out, tried to get my wife Beth, I’m like, ‘Can you find out a way I cann write with Jon Pardi?’ (JON: “Which is awesome.”) I was just a fan, but when Jon sits down with a guitar, just what he does naturally is already so unique. It’s like so country like you’ve heard it before, like you’ve never heard it before, and when I’m trying to work with artists, that’s what I look. But as far as this song, when we were writing, I honestly just dug back into me being a fan of 90s country music, and I just  loved that we could just write a straight-ahead country song and not worried about having to do all sorts of tricks and whatever. It was just completely authentic to who Jon is as an artist and it was just him being himself, and I was just fortunate enough to be along for the ride.

The collection features seven songs, six from Mr. Misunderstood, recorded at the Red Rocks Amphitheater is Morrison, Colo. Church commemorates the surprise release of Mr. Misunderstoodon its one-year anniversarywhen he dropped it unannounced during the 49th CMA Awards after sending over 80,000 copies directly to his fans— with the release of the live album that features incredible raw versions of songs that insist “music is fuel for love, for anguish and, naturally, for other music” (New York Times).

True to his fans-first approach, Church invited those at home to partake in his two-night concert as he broadcast not only part of his show, but also his announcement of his 60+ city 2017 Holdin’ My Own Tour from Facebook Live. Mr. Misunderstood On the Rocks Live, Church’s first live album since 2013’s Caught in the Act: Live, captures this special collection of performances including a Red Rocks Medley of “Mistress Named Music” and a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” in which Rolling Stone said Church “delivered his soul-bearing rendition in tender, fragile style, quietly picking a hollow-bodied electric guitar and singing softly, as if he were alone in a giant natural cathedral.”

The release of the Red Rocks album where Church’s “songs posit music as a magical sun shower to bathe in blissfully,” [New York Times] comes as the seven-time GRAMMY nominee celebrates his second single off Mr. Misunderstood, “Record Year” hitting the top of the charts.
