Road Less Traveled centers on Lauren’s character, “Charlotte,” who is struggling with balancing her upcoming wedding with her songwriting career in Los Angeles. She finds herself searching for answers in her hometown of Harmony, Tennessee, where she runs into her high school sweetheart.

Lauren is currently sitting at Top 25 on the country charts with “Road Less Traveled.”

Audio / Lauren Alaina says the turning point for her to really get over her eating disorder was when she started losing her voice. Her struggle led her to write “Road Less Traveled,” which is sitting in the Top 25 on the country charts.

Lauren Alaina (RLT-turning point) OC: …of a diet. 1:05
“It was difficult for me to get better. The eating disorder thing was not an easy thing to overcome, because I knew if I quit I was gonna gain weight, and that was my biggest fear. I was practically killing myself. I mean, you have to eat. You have to have nutrients to live. I mean, my hair was falling out. I was balding. My fingernails wouldn’t grow. I think I finally got so sick, that I realized, and they told me if I didn’t quit, it was affecting my voice. So, I started was losing my, that was my one thing that made me feel like I had a purpose was my voice, my music, my songwriting, and when it started affecting, I kinda thought, ‘Okay, I’ve got to do something,’ but it didn’t make it easy. I mean, it took me before I was really better in that process, a couple of years. I started trying to get better around 17, almost 18, and I didn’t really get it figured out until I was probably 19 or 20. And I still struggle with it, but I had to completely let go of a diet.”
