LISTEN TO “STRAWBERRY WINE AND A CHEAP SIX PACK” | HERE “I really wanted to write something like “Strawberry Wine and A Cheap Six Pack” to grab a nostalgic feeling on a lyrical and musical level,” said Denning. “When I was growing up and a teenager, I was listening to certain kind of music from an era that I really wanted to capture on this song. The song has a mid-2000s country music vibe and that’s something I’ve been chasing for a long time. I feel like this song was the first I’ve written that definitely hits that same feeling and energy of the music of my youth.” Added Denning, “I’m so excited for this song to be out, because it’s just the first of a lot of music to come. The songs I’ve recorded this year are all very unique and very different, and they stand out from music that I’ve recorded in the past.” Denning will make his 16th appearance at the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday, March 28. Not only is he touring throughout the spring and summer, but Denning is also currently in the studio working on new music. In addition to the new release, Denning has a cut on Morgan Wallen’s new album called, “Devil Don’t Know,” which he co-wrote with Jared Mullins and Ben Stennis. Lyrics to “Strawberry Wine And A Cheap Six Pack” Half past nine, I send you a text soon as that sun dropped Kill my headlights, pull up, pick you up out by the mailbox You’d lay the seat back and I’d find a place to go I’d play it cool, you’d play the radio Find a back road with a little magic on it Back when all we really wanted was
A hand-me-down Tacoma with a dent in the side 10 miles over that county line speed limit sign Black and mild smoke out on the wind Hot July moon, I swear that I can hear you singin’ again First taste of love, no, I couldn’t get enough Girl, that’s where I go when I go back Strawberry wine and a cheap six pack
Half drunk kiss On a bank of river, under wished on stars Yeah, we jumped right in Set the night on fire with you in my arms All summer long you said, don’t let me go Leaves fell, we did too, next thing you know It’s all long gone but girl I swear Sometimes I’m right back there in
A hand-me-down Tacoma with a dent in the side 10 miles over that county line speed limit sign Black and mild smoke out on the wind Hot July moon, I swear that I can hear you singin’ again First taste of love, no, I couldn’t get enough Girl, that’s where I go when I go back Strawberry wine and a cheap six pack
Don’t matter where I go, don’t matter where I’m at One sip of that song and girl I’m right back to

“’Strawberry Wine And A Cheap Six Pack’ really is just trying to paint this nostalgic picture of a guy and a girl. You don’t really know if it ended well or ended bad, doesn’t really matter. It’s more about the good and the beauty and the romanticism of them just being free, kinda in that summer setting, and I think the music really reflects the song too. It’s kind of got that mid-2000s country nostalgia to it, and it’s a super fun one to play.”
