A devastated Kip Moore posted a video on his socials on Thursday (August 10th) to reveal he’s working on a benefit to help those ravaged and destroyed by the horrific fire that has engulfed the Hawaiian island of Maui. According to news reports, the fire, which was fueled by a dry summer and strong winds from a passing hurricane, has claimed the lives of at least 36 people so far. *UPDATED: at least 55 killed and more than 1,000 structures damaged or destroyed.
“Anyone that’s followed this page for any length of time knows that it’s not just a place that I go, it’s home, and I’ve developed some of the strongest friendships that I have in my life there; the kind of people that would truly do anything for you, if you asked ’em. So, I guess I’m making this (video) to say to anyone that’s watching from Maui that’s seeing this video, there’s a lot of people talking about you, there’s a lot of people that want to help, that are going to help, and I know it’s a long, long, it’s going to be a long road back to rebuilding, but there’s people that want to jump on board and help that process. And I’ve already been on the phone with different artist friends of mine, agents, managers trying to figure out how quickly we can get over there and do a show to raise funds to help that process, get it moving. Already talking to different construction companies that might want to team up and help this process. So, yeah, just wanted to say there are so many people on the mainland thinking about you guys and we want to help.”

For fans and friends who want to donate, Kip included a link to the One Heartbeat Hawaii Fund, which is a charitable endeavor established by the singer-songwriter last year to help nourish the needs of underserved native Maui residents. A percentage of tickets sold from his “Fire On Wheels Tour” last year went to the fund.
