• DIERKS BENTLEY’S ‘BURNING MAN’ FEATURES TOUR MATES BROTHERS OSBORNE.

When Dierks Bentley heard the song “Burning Man,” he wanted to collaborate on the song with Brothers Osborne, who are also out on his Mountain High Tour. He felt it was a song the guys would record on their own with or without him.

I’m a huge fan of those guys. They’re friends. We play in a side band together, a ‘90s country cover band called the Hot Country Knights with a K for anyone who wants to look us up,” says Dierks. “So, we’re just pals, and it’s like this song feels like something that they would sing, you know? It feels like if they’d got this one before I did, they probably would’ve cut it. I’ve never had someone on tour with me – anyone who’s on tour with me is someone I just love. I’ve never had anyone out there that I’m not a huge fan of or I don’t totally believe in, and I’ve never had that plus also had a song we could do together out on the road that’s on an album. It was so easy. I just called ‘em up and sent the song and got a huge ‘Yes’ back from both of them right away. They came into the studio like two days later. It was just a great hang.”

“Burning Man,” as well as Dierks’ latest hit “Woman, Amen,” are included on his new album, The Mountain, due out June 8th.

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE HIT THE SUNSHINE STATE TO RECORD THEIR NEW ALBUM, PORT SAINT JOE.

Brothers Osborne release their sophomore album, Port Saint Joe, on Friday. The pair went down to Florida and holed up in a beach house to record songs for the collection, and they were so affected by their time down there making music, they decided to title the album after Port Saint Joe, Florida.

Their producer, Jay Joyce, first suggested getting out of Nashville and on the beach to record songs for their new album.

“I think it started off as Jay kind of brought it up one time. We were meeting about doing the record and he said, ‘Man, it would be cool to get out of Nashville. I’ve got a beach house that we can go to and just kind of shack up in.’ I think partly it started because he just wanted to get out himself. He had been in his own studio for so long that I think everyone just kind of needed a change of scene,” says TJ Osborne. “We were in this house that was not made for recording at all, which was kind of part of the charm. There was a lot of bleed and none of the doors had any foam or any isolation to them. It was really, really cool. It kind of felt like when you are playing music at home and you just love that jamming. You’re just sitting on your couch playing music, and I felt like that’s kind of what we captured.”

This isn’t the first time John Osborne has been to Port Saint Joe, Florida. “I went to Port Saint Joe years ago to play. It was after one of the hurricanes or the BP oil spill or something like that. It was BP oil spill,” recalls John. “That’s what it was. And the government gave a huge grant to this town that was affected by the oil spill and they used some of the money for a concert series and the band that actually played in Port Saint Joe. They set up a small stage and I thought it was really cool. I never thought I would go back to that place. I really enjoyed it. It was a nice little snapshot in time. And then I kind of forgot about it and then when we went down to Port Saint Joe to record our record I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is that place where we played that one random show where they don’t have concerts.’ It’s a really, really cool town.”

Their latest single, “Shoot Me Straight,” is the first release from Port Saint Joe.

John and TJ picked up TWO ACM Awards for Vocal Duo of the Year and Video of the Year for “It Ain’t My Fault.”

He had been in his own studio for so long that I think everyone just kind of needed a change of scene. And it kind of started off almost like a joke that turned into within a couple of days we were like why don’t we do that. It would be nice for us as well, and I thought it helped the creative process to get out of the bubble of Nashville. And fast forward a couple of months we’re loading up a U-Haul truck and taking it down to his beach house. It made no sense other than it being an awesome place to record. There was just sand everywhere. It got all in his beer, and we were in this house that was not made for recording at all, which was kind of part of the charm. There was a lot of bleed and none of the doors had any foam or any isolation to them. It was really, really cool. • BROTHERS OSBORNE’S ‘SHOOT ME STRAIGHT’ WAS RECORDED LIVE IN FRONT OF A BUNCH OF FRIENDS.

Brothers Osborne recorded much of their new album, Port Saint Joe, in a beach house in Florida, and one of the songs they tracked — “Shoot Me Straight” — was recorded live in front of a bunch of friends who came down to hang out.

“We had just been on the road for months. We had taken a bus from a gig to Port Saint Joe and unloaded our gear off of it, so we were kind of in the mindset of playing like a band and that’s what [producer Jay Joyce] wanted to capture,” says John Osborne. “And ‘Shoot Me Straight’ literally is just us jamming in a room. We had tracked that song a few different times over the two-week course of staying there, and one of the last nights we were there we had some friends all come down from Nashville and we just set up in the room. It was late at night. We had all been drinking and partying a little bit, and he wanted us to get in front of like our friends and jam, and that was the take. He wouldn’t let us fix anything. I’m glad that he didn’t because music these days it’s so perfect. I mean you can go back and fix everything all you want until the cows come home, but this record is a snapshot of just what happened. The four minutes in time — this is what happened and that’s it. And some of our favorite music listening to is that. It’s just a live moment that was captured in time and you can’t really recreate that.”

The reigning ACM and CMA Duo of the Year will perform Saturday (April 28th) at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California, before heading overseas to tour the UK.

JOHN: “Most of the record was recorded live. If you listen to the record intently, you will hear mistakes and the solo on ‘Shoot Me Straight,’ there are notes that I’m going for and I miss and Jay was adamant about leaving them because we captured a live moment. We had just been on the road for months. • DIERKS BENTLEY GETS READY TO LAUNCH HIS MOUNTAIN HIGH TOUR.

Dierks Bentley kicks off his Mountain High Tour on Friday (May 18th) in Columbia, Maryland with special guests Brothers Osborne and LANCO.

Dierks is looking forward to getting on the road with his opening acts, because he wants to have fun on the road. “I just want this to be fun for me at the end of the day. I’ve got a lot of great stuff going on and I’m gonna spend the whole summer out there,” says Dierks.”It’s not about making money. It’s about my life. I want to have a great summer, have a lot of fun, make a lot of great memories, be totally present from the second we get there on-site, thinking of the fans’ experience when they first pull into a tailgate to when they leave and get home safely. So, it’s really fun, and you want to spend that summer you want to be around, and obviously it’d be nice if it was people that are having success in their career and could help sell tickets and all that. You’re always trying to find that, I say this a lot, someone said this to me early on, where one plus one equals three. You know, where a group of people come together and their sum is greater than their parts.”

The Arizona native is making his way up the country charts with “Woman, Amen” from his upcoming album, The Mountain, available June 8th.

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE WILL PERFORM ON LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS.

Brothers Osborne will perform “Weed, Whiskey And Willie” on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers May 21st. John and TJ Osborne co-wrote the track with Laura Veltz, and it has quickly become a favorite among critics and audiences alike with Rolling Stone praising the “string-snapping minimalism that builds gradually into a fluttering jam.”

“Weed, Whiskey And Willie” is featured on the duo’s critically-acclaimed sophomore album Port Saint Joe which has been hailed as “soulful, classic-rocking” by NPR and “absolutely superb” by the BBC. The GRAMMY-nominated duo continues to make headway overseas as they just wrapped their first headlining UK tour with every show sold out but one. The Birmingham Mail gave Brothers Osborne 5/5 stars and noted, “they rock on big guitar riffs…bridging country tradition and contemporary rock sensibilities.” Rock ‘N’ Load Magazine in Belfast, Ireland admired the “rollercoaster set of up-tempo and emotive numbers that draw the audience in one by one.” The Maryland natives are set to return to the UK this November.

The singer/songwriter siblings recently took home two trophies at the 53rd Annual ACM Awards and maintained their reign as Vocal Duo of the Year in addition to winning Video of the Year for their rowdy Top 10 hit “It Ain’t My Fault.”

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE SAY ‘TAKE ME TO’ ELTON JOHN.

Brothers Osborne recorded a very cool version of the 1970 Elton John-Bernie Taupin song, “Take Me to the Pilot” for the new star-studded compilation, Restoration: Reimagining the Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The collection, which also features Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves, Dierks Bentley, Chris Stapleton, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson and many others, came out on Friday (April 6th).

The boys nearly recorded another one of Elton’s hits, but decided that “Take Me to the Pilot” would be the best fit; a song they could have easily seen themselves record, even if the collection wasn’t part of the equation.

“If you go back and listen to a lot of Elton’s early material, it sounds like some grooving, almost rock-country tunes, and ‘Take Me to the Pilot,’ sounds like a song we could’ve easily have recorded,” says John Osborne.

“We were listening to songs of Elton’s that we thought would be great to do, and some of the songs we were just big fans of, but we realized we probably weren’t the best artist or band to recreate it,” says TJ Osborne. “Then we were listening to ‘Take Me to the Pilot,’ and we thought man, this is something that we probably would’ve wanted to cover and record anyways, regardless of it being on the Restoration project and so we did. I’m pretty proud with how it turned out.”

Brothers Osborne, who are nominated for two ACM Awards (Vocal Duo and Music Video of the Year for “It Ain’t My Fault”), are set to release their brand-new album, Port Saint Joe, on April 20th. They’re currently making their way up the country charts with “Shoot Me Straight.”

JOHN: “We’re really stoked about being a part of the Restoration album, the Elton John tribute record, and there’s amazing artists on there and we’re honored that they’d even ask us to be a part of it. If you go back and listen to a lot of Elton’s early material, it sounds like some grooving, almost rock-country tunes, and ‘Take Me to the Pilot,’ sounds like a song we could’ve easily have recorded.” TJ: “That song, something about ‘Take Me to the Pilot,’ we were listening to songs of Elton’s that we thought would be great to do, and some of the songs we were just big fans of, but we realized we probably weren’t the best artist or band to recreate it. I’m always excited when even the pizza delivery guy knows who we are, and to think that Bernie and Elton actually know who we are is pretty rad.” TJ: “It is rad.”
