• KEITH, DARIUS, BROTHERS O, CLARE PAY TRIBUTE TO THE LATE CHUCK BERRY.

Several members of the country music community are mourning the loss of Rock’n Roll pioneer Chuck Berry over the weekend. According to the New York Times, Berry, who died at his home in Wentzville, Missouri on Saturday at the age of 90, “did as much as anyone to define rock ’n’ roll’s potential and attitude in its early years.”

Keith Urban was eloquent in his remembrance of Chuck Berry, citing one of his biggest hits, “RIP Chuck Berry !!!! Thank you for the poetry, the passion and the potency! GO JOHNNY GO. – KU”, while Darius Rucker said, “Legend isn’t a big enough word for you sir!!”

Brothers Osborne paid tribute to his guitar playing skills, saying “This man invented rock guitar as we know it. Thanks for everything, Chuck.” Guitar slinger Clare Dunn said, “Pioneer, game changer: those words barely start to describe . We miss you and the world will never be the same.”

Audio / Keith Urban talks about recording the song, “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” from his album Ripcord.

    Download

Keith Urban (Blue Ain’t Your Color) OC: …of space. :50
“With this record, I think I was also trying to find songs and write songs to what I had done in the past, just that felt different for me. This song called ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ came along, and again, it was just one of those that I loved immediately. I loved the lyric. I loved the melody, the feel, and it’s basically a waltz, you know, like a one, two, three, two, two, three, a one, two, three, two, two, three. But I didn’t want it to feel like a waltz, you know? So, when we recorded the song at Starstruck Studios here in Nashville, we kept it a little more robotic sounding, so it wasn’t a straight band. It was a little more machinery, rhythmically, and I think it kept, hopefully for me at least, it kept it in a unique place to allow the story to have a lot of space.”

Audio / Keith Urban talks about the correlation between the adrenaline rush of pulling a ripcord from a parachute and the hope that those feelings are captured in the diversity of the songs on his new album, Ripcord.

    Download

Keith Urban (Ripcord album) OC: …this record. :37
“There’s songs on the record that probably feel, having not skydived myself, but my wife has done it many, many, many times. There’s definitely songs that sound like that free falling at an incredibly rapid speed. The adrenaline rush of that. The pulling of the cord and suddenly just sort of cruising and coasting and floating and the combination of all those speeds, energies, exhilarations, euphoria, the view, how that changes, all of it, I think, hopefully will be captured in the diversity of songs on this record.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley talks about having Elle King sing on the song, “Different For Girls” on his new album, Black.

    Download

Dierks Bentley (Elle King) OC: …new place. :36
“Well, I love Elle King’s voice. I mean she has such a unique voice, and you never know if her voice is going to blend with your voice. I didn’t found out until I went down to the studio in Austin, and right away it was just a really natural sounding blend. Her voice just lifted up this song. The lyrics of this song are pretty strong and her voice on this particular song really takes the song to a whole other level. I really wanted to find a way for her not to just be background vocals. I wanted to find a way to really get her included in the song, so I gave her the second verse and made the song more of a conversation as opposed to just background vocals. And it really, it just took the song to a whole new place.”

Audio / Hillary Scott is so excited to be nominated for two Grammys for her faith-based song "Thy Will" and the album she made with her family, Love Remains.

    Download

Hillary Scott (Grammys 2017) OC: …incredible year. 52
HILLARY: “Over the moon excited, and never expected it, because honestly when we set out to make the record we weren’t sure how many people would get to hear it. To be able to share this with my family is, it makes me cry. So, it’s gonna be a really special day. The whole experience has been amazing.” CHARLES: “I expected it. The first time I heard ‘Thy Will,’ it blew my mind. I asked her if she could hold it for Lady Antebellum’s record. I knew it was special. I told her after I heard it, ‘This is gonna to blow up. It’s gonna be huge.’” HILLARY: “And just to see, that song in particular coming from such a difficult thing, I think we all hope that the things that we go through in our life, at some point being able to look back and say, ‘Okay. Alright. I still would never want to go through it again, but I see why, a piece of why even.’ So, this is just, it’s just been an incredible year.”

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE LOOK AT THE GRAMMY AWARDS WITH A BIT OF ‘WONDER.’

Brothers Osborne is looking forward to the GRAMMY Awards next Sunday (February 12th). The duo is nominated for the second time in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category for their song “21 Summer.” Last year, they were nominated in the same category for their No. 1 hit, “Stay a Little Longer.”

John Osborne says he gravitates toward the performances, especially last year’s between Stevie Wonder and Pentatonix. “I do love the performances and just being in the same room with Stevie Wonder ever,” says John. “Last year he performed with Pentatonix, and it was just insane. It’s one of those things where I keep finding, I’m trying to watch the show, but my head just naturally gravitates to look at Stevie Wonder. Thank God he can’t see, because if he looked at me, I’d look like the biggest creeper ever. I’m just kind of freaking out.”

The guys are currently making their way up the country charts with their new song, “It Ain’t My Fault.”

Audio / Brothers Osborne’s John Osborne says there’s one particular legendary performer who makes him freak out, especially at the Grammys.

Brothers Osborne (Grammys 2017) OC: …freaking out. [laughs] :33
“I do love the performances and just being in the same room with Stevie Wonder ever. I don’t care if you’re like in a conference room or you’re in a giant arena. That always kind of freaks me out, just to see him, and he’s such an iconic figure. Last year he performed with Pentatonix, and it was just insane. It’s one of those things where I keep finding, I’m trying to watch the show, but my head just naturally gravitates to look at Stevie Wonder. Thank God he can’t see, because if he looked at me, I’d look like the biggest creeper ever. I’m just kind of freaking out.” [laughs]

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE HAS NO. 1 MOST ADDED SONG AT RADIO.

Brothers Osborne earns the No.1 most added song at Country radio this week with their new single “It Ain’t My Fault”. The boisterous track received 61 adds marking the highest one-week add total for the duo.

“It Ain’t My Fault” is featured on Brothers Osborne’s critically-acclaimed debut album Pawn Shop which also includes the RIAA Platinum-Certified, GRAMMY-nominated No.1 hit “Stay A Little Longer” as well as the GRAMMY-nominated “21 Summer.” Before its release as an official single, “It Ain’t My Fault” has already received high praise with The St. Louis Dispatch claiming it’s “bound to be big,” Newsday noting it’s “hard-rocking” and The Associated Press adding it’s “as clever as any night-gone-wild tune that country music has offered since the heyday of Alan Jackson and Toby Keith.”

Last fall, John and TJ Osborne embarked on their first-headlining THE DIRT RICH TOUR stopping in over 30 markets such as Toronto, Los Angeles, Dallas and Las Vegas. On the heels of their surprise win for CMA Vocal Duo of the Year, the Maryland natives managed to sell out two nights at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver as well as additional shows in New York, Washington DC, Seattle, San Diego and more. Known for their true musicianship and no-limits attitude, Brothers Osborne recently orchestrated an impromptu performance on the roof of their tour bus after part of the venue ceiling collapsed at the Fox Theatre in Hanford, California.

Brothers Osborne will wrap THE DIRT RICH TOUR this week with a sold-out show at Marathon Music Works in Nashville on Jan 18 followed by The Pageant in St. Louis, MO on Jan 19 and Bogart’s in Cincinnati, OH on Jan 20. • BROTHERS OSBORNE TAKE THE BLAME WITH SONGWRITER LEE MILLER FOR LATEST SONG.

Brothers Osborne has hit the airwaves with their latest song, “It Ain’t My Fault,” which they co-wrote with songwriter Lee Miller.

“We just wanted something that was a little more kind of gritty and kind of had some attitude to it, and the whole song is just about clearly all of these things you are blaming on the other, but you are the person that is making this happen,” says TJ Osborne. “You are the person who is to blame, but you’re just so hell bent on having a good time or going forward and not being boggled down by all of the things that would stop a normal person. You kind of just get in the surreal moment of denying any bit of blame.”

“It Ain’t My Fault” is from the duo’s debut album, Pawn Shop.

The pair received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “21 Summer.” The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in L.A. February 12th at 8pm ET on CBS.

Audio / Brothers Osborne’s TJ Osborne talks about the pair’s latest song, “It Ain’t My Fault.”

Brothers Osborne (It Ain’t My Fault) OC: …I think. :54

“We just wanted something that was a little more kind of gritty and kind of had some attitude to it, and the whole song is just about clearly all of these things you are blaming on the other, but you are the person that is making this happen. You are the person who is to blame, but you’re just so hell bent on having a good time or going forward and not being boggled down by all of the things that would stop a normal person. You kind of just get in the surreal moment of denying any bit of blame. We wrote this with a great songwriter in town named Lee Miller, and it was actually his idea to have these kind of blaming things on each other and this back and forth. And when he started doing it, I was like ‘Man, that’s really cool. I’ve never heard lyrics really delivered like that before.’ And we just started coming up with these really fun different things, whether it’s blaming the ex for the drinking or the drinking for the ex or it’s just whatever order you want to put them in. It was a really, really fun different song, I think.”

  • NEW YEAR’S 2016: Brothers Osborne, Canaan, Clare, Dierks, Eric, Jon, Kacey, Keith, Kip, Luke

What are some of your favorite stars doing to welcome in the New Year? Some of them are working to help fans celebrate. Several artists have taken the time off around the holidays and will hit it hard when they return to the road in January. Some artists have resolutions and some are very helpful with their own hangover cures for those who imbibe too much on New Year’s Eve.

Keith Urban is set to headline Music City on New Year’s Eve. He’ll perform at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park as part of the Jack Daniels Music City Midnight bash. Styx, A Thousand Horses, Charlie Worsham, Moon Taxi and the Fisk Jubliee Singers are also on the bill.

Brothers Osborne will ring in the New Year by headlining the New Year’s Eve Bowl Bash in Jacksonville, Florida. The free concert and celebration will take place at the intersection of Forsyth and Ocean in Downtown Jacksonville.

Luke Bryan will spend the night before New Year’s Eve, so New Year’s Eve Eve (December 30th), in Las Vegas performing a show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Audio / Brothers Osborne talk about how people spend the last moments of the year, and the first moments of the new year.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (New Year) OC: (TJ) …next month. :44
JOHN: “I think it’s kind of funny how we spend literally the last moment and the very first moment of every year being extremely intoxicated, extremely, because you don’t want to wait until like 12:30 to get your buzz on. You’ve got to do it before midnight, and then once midnight happens, you’re like, ‘Omigod! Now it’s time to celebrate even more.’ Debauchery is the literally bookending your entire year.” TJ: “I love how everyone starts the year off with diets and then we end the year with like excessive amounts of food. And then you get to the end of the year, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start a diet on the 1st, so I’m going to eat everything that’s in front of me.’ I love it.” JOHN: “And come February 1st, ‘what diet?’” [laughs] TJ: “What diet? I’ll start it next month.” [laughs]

Audio / John Osborne of Brothers Osborne says a little hair of the dog is definitely the cure for a hangover.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (hangover cure) OC: …of the year. :07
“Usually drinking more. I mean, a little hair of the dog never hurt anybody. Plus, it’s the first of the year.”

Audio / Canaan Smith says there’s really no cure for a hangover.

    Download

Canaan Smith (no hangover cure) OC: …long, you know? :32
“There is no hangover cure. The older I get I’m like, ‘Oh God! What am I thinking?’ It’s terrible. Hangovers are awful. Tequila’s the worst. I try to stay away from Tequila, because it hurts me bad. I used to be a whiskey guy. I still am every now and then, but of late, I’m domestic, American beer, just something light and tasty. Shots are my worst enemy. When I start working shots into the picture, that’s when I know I’m gonna hurt the next morning. I just try to keep it the same, whether it’s whiskey or beer or whatever, I just stick with that same drink the whole night long, you know?”

Audio / Clare Dunn suggests a good hangover cure.

    Download

Clare Dunn (hangover cure) OC: …hangover cure. :10
“Greasy food is always kind of a, you can let it go for one day before you start all your resolutions [laughs] after that. So, that’s probably my best hangover cure.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says there’s not really a cure for a hangover.

    Download

Dierks (NYE) OC: …for that. :10
“I think January first is universally accepted as a dog. So I mean, a little hair of the dog, I guess. But just…water and stay on the couch, I guess. There’s no real sure-fire cure for that.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says he'll take this New Year's Eve in stride.

    Download

Dierks Bentley (New Year’s) OC: …in stride. 1:11
“New Year’s is rough. New Year’s hurts no matter what’s going o n. I’ve played a lot of New Year’s shows, you know, but I’ve honestly found that it’s not my favorite night to throw down. Look, for a living, that’s what I do. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, I host a big party; not only on stage, but I’ve got friends backstage. It starts before the concert sometimes, [and] it goes long after the concert, so a lot of times on New Year’s, I’m looking for a really mellow hang – a good party, good friends, pretty chill. Some of my best New Year’s – it doesn’t make for great radio – but some of my best New Year’s have been just like actually hearing fireworks go off while I’m in bed, [laughs] and know I’m gonna wake up the next morning for the first day of the New Year feeling great, feeling recharged and I’m ready to go ad go into the New Year feeling good as opposed to going into it with a giant Jagerbomb hangover, which I’ve done many, many times. So, the goal this year is to go into it feeling pretty good and the kids help with that, because you really just don’t want to be hungover with children. It’s not a good feeling. You would probably admit to any crime to get them, just feel better, and get them leave you alone. So, [I’m] gonna try to hit New Year’s this year in stride.”

Audio / Eric Church has a couple of hangover cures for those times (especially on New Year’s Eve) when you might imbibe a little too much.

    Download

Eric Church (hangover cure) OC: …every time. :17
“The best hangover cure – I’ve got two. One is 5-hour Energy [bottles], because of all the B-vitamins that are in it. You can start pounding those, and it’s either gonna work, or it’s gonna keep you up and prolong your misery. But the other one I have is just take two Advil and a beer in the morning. Hair of the dog, man – that works every time.”

Audio / Jon Pardi reveals his go-to cure for hangovers.

    Download

Jon Pardi (hangover cure) OC: …deal with it. :20
“My hangover cure is Bloody Marys, but be careful – because once you have a couple, don’t go to beer, because if you go to beer, you’re gonna start drinking again and you’ll end up a morning drunk. OR if you want to go the non-alcoholic route, there’s nothing you can do for hangovers. [laughs] You just go deal with it.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves, who rings in the New Year performing at the Grand Ole Opry, has her own hangover cure.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (hangover cure) OC: …water. Yup! :32
“Coconut water is a major help with hangovers and also, a lot of times we go and eat Vietnamese fuh. It’s a soup, and it’s got this awesome broth. You can get different things in it or whatever, but for some reason, it’s just like…it’s almost like a chicken noodle soup kind of an idea, you know, but it’s good. That’s good for hangovers too. That, sleep, Tylenol, coconut water and just water, in general. And when you’re drinking, have your alcohol, drink a little bit of water, drink some more alcohol, drink some water. Yup!”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves gives her favorite hangover cure, which is pretty simple.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (favorite hangover cure) OC: …as bad. :11
Oh actually, though, my favorite hangover cure is right before you go to bed, no matter how trashed you are, literally just chug an entire glass of water, and then when you wake up, it’s not as bad.”

Audio / Kip Moore gives advice on how to avoid a hangover on New Year’s Eve.

    Download

Kip Moore (avoiding hangovers on NYE) OC: …yourself. :03
“Pace yourself on New Year’s – that’s the remedy. Pace yourself.”

Luke Bryan (New Years-best) OC: …great night. :17
“My best New Year’s Eve is definitely when my wife and I started back dating. We started back dating right before Christmas, and we went on a trip down to Florida and met some friends. And her birthday is New Year’s Eve. We celebrated it that night. It was just a great night.”
