• “GEORGE STRAIT: THE KING AT KYLE FIELD” SET FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 15th, 2024.

Texas troubadour George Strait has announced the only performance in his home state this year with a concert set for Saturday, June 15th, 2024, at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field. The King of Country Music will be joined by special guests Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman.

Tickets to the Kyle Field performance go on sale to the general public Thursday, March 28th, at 10 a.m. CT via TheKingAtKyle.com. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning March 22 at 10 a.m. CT through March 27th at 10 p.m. CT.

The news follows the recent announcement that Strait will once again team up with Chris Stapleton to perform one-off stadium dates this year with stops at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, Chicago’s Soldier Field, Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium and more. Joining the King of Country and Stapleton for those nine dates are special guests Little Big Town.

Since his record-breaking Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, Strait has performed for limited engagements outside of his 36-and-counting Strait to Vegas shows at T-Mobile Arena, including headlining both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2021 plus his 31st appearance at the Houston Rodeo in 2022. With an unmatched 60 singles hitting the top of the charts—more than any other artist in any genre—during the span of his 30+ year career, Strait has collected 33 Platinum or multi-Platinum-selling albums, more than any other Country artist and ranking third across all genres behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley. The Texas troubadour is the only artist or act in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for over three decades and recently earned his 100th entry on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with his latest single, “The Weight of the Badge.” He has sold nearly 70 million albums and earned more than 60 major entertainment industry awards, including induction in the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

  • INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

While we are currently celebrating Woman’s Month, Friday (March 8th) is International Women’s Day, which is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900’s.

Many of your favorite female country artists are also celebrating this day in honor of women everywhere and of their influences and inspirations.

Audio / Carrie Underwood talks about her amazing professional influences.

    Download

Carrie Underwood (Musical influences) OC: …do it too. :54
“I think my biggest influences musically, or career-wise, would have to be women like Reba, like Dolly, like Faith Hill, like Martina McBride. You see all of these women just juggle everything masterfully and many of them are moms and they’re superstars and they’re talented, and you know, I know how hard they work because I’m in their shoes somewhat and doing the same juggling. You know, you have the kids and the career and you’re just trying to crush everything you do and being pulled in a million different directions. And to see women like that who are just beautiful and smart and strong and talented, knowing that they have come first and they’re still getting to do what they love and they’re still getting to be the mom and the wife and all the things – that’s just such an inspiration to me and just lets me know that I can do it too.”

Audio / Carrie Underwood talks about her biggest female influence – her Mom.

Carrie Underwood (biggest female influence) OC: …ever had. :25
“I would say my biggest female influence would have to be my Mom. She was the first person that I was around that really taught me what it was like to be a woman, to be a Mom, to be a wife, to be a daughter and a sister. And just watching her and how she did everything with grace and integrity and she’s so strong. I mean, she was just the best role model anybody could have ever had.”

Audio / Caylee Hammack talks about her professional inspirations, including Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire and more.

    Download

Caylee Hammack (Loretta Lynn and professional inspirations) OC: …look up to. :31
“My first concert ever was Loretta Lynn. I was 13 years old and I got to see her in Columbus, Georgia. I begged my Dad to bring me, and I just remembered sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what she’d sing or say next. Loretta Lynn has been such an inspiration to me and all of the women who came before me – Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, all the way to Miranda Lambert and the legends of today. It’s unreal how many amazing women I have been given in this world to look up to.”

Audio / Caylee Hammack talks about seeing Loretta Lynn in concert when she was 13 years old.

    Download

Caylee Hammack (Loretta Lynn) OC: …should listen. :28
“My female idol growing up was Loretta Lynn. I was 13 when I got to see her live in-concert for the very first time. It was my first concert ever, and I will always remember sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to just see what she was gonna sing or say next. The power she had on stage is something you don’t see much; there’s a magic there. I think that when a woman tells her story – a woman like Loretta Lynn – everyone should listen.”

Audio / Caylee Hammack talks about the women in country music who have become her friends and supportive country music family.

    Download

Caylee Hammack (Miranda, Ashley, Tenille) OC: …more grateful. :46
“I could on and on about Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette and Reba and Dolly, but I want to actually mention a few friends that I’ve recently made in this year of quarantine and that’s Miranda Lambert and Ashley McBryde and Tenille Townes, these women that I’ve really gotten to connect with over this time in random group messages and such. I‘m just so very grateful that not only do I have women that have paved the way for us coming up in the country music industry, but I also have amazing women around me that I get to celebrate every single time that they put a new song out or win an award. I feel like I’ve found a family in country music, in the women of country music and I just couldn’t be more grateful.”

Audio / During a backstage press conference at the CMA Awards a few years ago, Kacey Musgraves talked about being inspired by two of her idols, Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, and hoped she could carry that inspiration on in her own music.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (women in Country Music) OC: …of it all. :37
“I look at people like Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, songwriters who were sassy and intelligent and beautiful and also intelligent and humorous. They inspired me, and if I can be at all any part of that in carrying that on, then I feel like,  that’s just the icing on the cake for me, and I feel like I’ve done my job.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves talks about meeting the legendary Loretta Lynn.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (Loretta Lynn) OC: …was amazing. :26
“I’ll never forget getting to meet her and open for her. It was just something I’ll never forget. I was so excited to meet Loretta. I mean, what can you say to her that no one else has said? You can’t, so I just shook her hand and held her hand and said, ‘You can’t understand how much you inspire me. Thank you.’ It was crazy. She was sitting there in her ballgown looking all like a country barbie doll. It was amazing.”

Audio / LINER Kylie Morgan (IWD)

    Download

“Hey y’all, it’s Kylie Morgan. Happy International Women’s Day, which is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Celebrate yourself and others on this special day. Let’s Go Girls!”

Audio / Kylie Morgan explains what International Women’s Day means to her.

    Download

Kylie Morgan (International Women’s Day) OC: …so young. :21
“For me, International Women’s Day is not only about women supporting women but also looking up to other women. And the very first tiny woman, actually, I ever looked up to was Shirley Temple. Not only was she a child star, but she never let her age hold her back. And I feel like I continue to grow up with that mentality and why I started my career so young.”

Audio / Prior to the Grammy Awards a few years ago, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild talked about their nominated song, “The Daughters,” and its message.

    Download

    LBT (Grammys 2020) OC: …speaking about. 1:28
“We put it out as a moment to kind of kick off the record Nightfall, and we just love the song so much and we’ve had so many opportunities to share it on television and lots of radio opportunities. For it to just get nominated for Country Song of the Year by a Duo or Group, that’s an incredible category to be in because that’s any collaboration that’s been done on any country record plus by any duo or group. It encompasses so many incredible performances, that it really, it’s an absolute honor for that song to have gone all the way to the Grammys. Just so cool. It speaks to the message too. It speaks to how important that message is. We’re still talking about it all the time – equal play, equal play. We’re talking about it in just the way women are treated, and we need the champions out there for the daughters and that’s the heart of the song. Luckily, we’re in a band with two guys that believe in that, but there’s a lot of people out there that need that reminder that it’s not an equal playing field. It still isn’t. It’s time for us to change it so that the next generation doesn’t know what we’re speaking about.”

Audio / The late Loretta Lynn talks about two of her songs that had a big impact.

    Download

Loretta Lynn (which songs had most impact) OC: …double hits. :10
“‘You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)’ and ‘Fist City’ is another one. They both hit women, you know? I wrote them about other women at the time and myself too, so I think that’s why they were double hits.”

Audio / Maddie & Tae talk about some of the women they most admire.

    Download

Maddie & Tae (women most admire) OC: (Maddie) …everybody! :43
“I definitely can’t pick just one inspiring woman in my life, because I’ve been blessed by many. (TAE INTERRUPTS) Yeah, I was gonna say Tae is definitely one that inspires me always for many different reasons. You are really good at living in the moment, I feel like; very good at being present and I always pick that up from you every time we hang out. (TAE SAYS, “Your joy inspires me.”) My mom, she is just a baddie and amazing. I would say our manager Haley. She is just so great at balancing work life and family life, and I really admire that. And I would say, I don’t know. All the women in my life – my sister, my sister-in-laws, my mother-in-law. I love ‘em all. My grandma…everybody!”

Audio / Maddie Font of Maddie & Tae talks about her admiration for Carrie Underwood.

    Download

Maddie & Tae (Carrie Underwood) OC: …her friendship. :23
“I really, really love and admire Carrie Underwood. I love that she balances family and her work life so well, and she really, really took us under her wing on her Cry Pretty Tour back in 2019 and just really gave us once-in-a-lifetime moments. So, I will always be grateful for her and her friendship.”

Audio / Mickey Guyton talks about the female country artists she admired growing up.

    Download

Mickey Guyton (on pursuing a career as a singer) OC: …all those people. :50
“It wasn’t like something where I was like, ‘Dad, I want to be a professional singer.’ It wasn’t until I was older when I finally admitted it. When you say something like that, it’s pretty crazy. What are we normally supposed to be? We’re supposed to be a teacher, a doctor, a lawyer, go to school and for me to even say that was just kind of crazy. So, I took an interest in singing. I started doing solos in the church choir or the school had a talent show. I’d bring my boom box, and I’d sing ‘I Will Always Love You.’ I was just mesmerized by big-voiced women, so from LeAnn, I started listening to Dolly and Patsy Cline and Patty Loveless and Reba McEntire and Faith Hill and Martina McBride, all those people.”

Audio / Priscilla Block talks about Dolly Parton.

    Download

Priscilla Block (Dolly Parton) OC: …me some Dolly. :19

“Hey-this is Priscilla Block, and I would say one female country legend that I look up to would be Dolly Parton. I love how honest she is, and she’s always just embraced who she is as a woman, and I love that so much, you know. Big hair, big hoops and you know what’s next. I love me some Dolly.”

Audio / Priscilla Block says she is inspired by her mother.

    Download

Priscilla Block (Mom) OC: …in the butt. :25
“I would honestly say one of the most inspiring women in my life is my mom because she raised five kids, and honestly had no clue what she was doing, but kind of always just made life so fun. She was there when we needed to laugh and when we needed to cry, and she was also there when we needed a little kick in the butt.”

Audio / REBA MCENTIRE TALKS ABOUT THE VERY FIRST TIME SHE MET LORETTA LYNN.

    Download

Reba McEntire (on loving Loretta Lynn) OC: …I love Loretta Lynn. :22
“Well, see what they would do, they’d play the rodeo. They would pull a trailer out and then the country music star for the night would come out and perform for the audience and then they would go over to the dance hall and put on a dance. That’s the first time I actually met her. I whipped off my belt for her to sign and man, I wish I still had that belt. I love Loretta Lynn.”

Audio / A FEW YEARS AGO, TAYLOR SWIFT SAID REBA MCENTIRE WAS ONE OF HER FAVORITE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.

    Download

Taylor Swift (Reba) OC: …factored in. :33
“Reba is absolutely one of my favorite people on this planet. And yk, I think when you’re making your way up in the music industry, you have all these heroes and the reasons why they’re your heroes are one thing, and then as soon as you kind of get in the industry, your guidelines change a little bit. For me, my heroes now are great people first and great artists second – people that I just feel strive to be great people and kind people first before anything else gets factored in.”

  • CATIE OFFERMAN RELEASES NEW SONG, SOUND OF MISSING YOU.

Catie Offerman released a new song this week — “Sound Of Missing You,” written by her, Justin Ebach and Josh Thompson. The song exudes lonely honky tonk vibes.

Says Offerman, “‘Sound Of Missing You’ put me back in every dancehall in [my homestate] Texas, reminiscing on every broken heart. The truth is that not every honkytonk memory is a happy one. I remember distinctly the day we wrote it, and Justin telling me he had this idea inspired by his dog, Gnocchi. His dog would whine for him and his wife, Jeanine, said ‘That’s the sound of him missing you,’ which, of course, is an amazing song title! I’m so grateful I was on the writing calendar that day!”

    About Catie Offerman:
Catie Offerman may be a new name to country music fans, but she’s already gaining a reputation as one of the genre’s most skilled players and promising modern traditionalists. Originally from New Braunfels, Texas, Offerman grew up on a horse ranch. Home schooled by her father in the tack room of their barn, she gravitated towards music at a young age. Offerman started playing piano at the age of four which eventually led her to pursue other instruments such as violin, accordion and more. When she was 11, Offerman’s accordion teacher asked her to join his polka band. She played accordion and fiddle at German fests across the state for years, touring before she could even drive. Offerman also explored her love for Western Swing, diving into Bob Wills music headfirst. At the age of 19 she graduated from Berklee College of Music. She spent time in Sweden and Los Angeles before settling down in Nashville. In 2020 Catie signed a record deal with Universal Music group, sharing the same imprint as her idol, George Strait. When not writing or in the studio Offerman is where she feels most comfortable – on the road. She’s toured with national acts such as Parker McCollum, Ian Munsick and Ashley McBryde, and she’s collaborated with fellow Texans such as Josh Abbott, Robert Earl Keen, Kevin Fowler and Hayes Carll. Offerman has also performed on the Grand Ole Opry at C2C 2023 in London. For more information visit catieofferman.com.

Catie Offerman (Sound of Missing You) OC: …have it out. :50
“’Sound of Missing You’ is my brand-new song. I remember specifically the day we wrote this at Justin Ebach’s house, and I came in and we were zooming in Josh Thompson, and before Josh got on the zoom, Ebach told me his wife Jeanine, who I adore, was talking about how that morning or the day before, something like that, their little Malti-poo or whatever, named Yoki, was whining for Justin to like pay attention to him, you know wanting to be the center of attention. And Jeanine made some type of comment of like, ‘Ah, you know, don’t give him a hard time. That’s just the sound of him missing you.’ I guess Justin was like, ‘Dang. That’s a song – ‘Sound of Missing You.’ We’ve got to write that today.’ And I just feel lucky that he had that idea on the day I was writing with him, because we came up with this one, and I love it. I also played fiddle on this one, and I’m just so proud to have it out.”

  • THANKSGIVING 2023 SOUNDBITES

The Thanksgiving holiday tradition traces its origins to a 1621 celebration at Plymouth, in the state that’s now known as Massachusetts. The 1621 Plymouth feast and thanksgiving was prompted by a good harvest. While initially, the Plymouth colony did not have enough food to feed half of the 102 colonists, the Wampanoag Native Americans helped the Pilgrims by providing seeds and teaching them to fish. The practice of holding an annual harvest festival like this did not become a regular affair in New England until the late 1660s. People now celebrate the holiday by giving thanks for their blessings over the past year, as well as feasting on turkey and other festive goodies.

Some festive fun facts about Thanksgiving:

    • President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national holiday on October 3rd, 1863.
    • Harry Truman is often credited with being the first president to pardon a turkey, but that’s not quite true. He was the first to receive a ceremonial turkey from the National Turkey Federation – and he had it for dinner. John F. Kennedy was the first to let a Thanksgiving turkey go, followed by Richard Nixon who sent his turkey to a petting zoo. George H.W. Bush is the president who formalized the turkey pardoning tradition in 1989.
    • The average number of calories consumed on Thanksgiving is 4,500.
    • Butterball answers more than 100,000 turkey-cooking questions via their Butterball Turkey Hotline each November and December.
    • The tradition of football on Thanksgiving began in 1876 with a game between Yale and Princeton. The first NFL games were played on Thanksgiving in 1920.
    • The Wednesday before Thanksgiving has become known as “Drinksgiving.” Bars experience a huge boom the night before the holiday.

Thanksgiving Day is Thursday, November 23rd, and most people might be enjoying time with a group of their friends and families, including some of your favorite country stars, such as Alan Jackson, Brothers Osborne, Carrie Underwood, Catie Offerman, Caylee Hammack, Dalton Dover, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley,  Jon Langston, Jon Pardi, Josh Turner, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Maddie & Tae, Mickey Guyton, Parker McCollum, Priscilla Block, Reba McEntire, Sam Hunt, Travis Denning, Tyler Hubbard and more. They share their thoughts of thanks this year, their lessons in gratitude, memories and favorite Thanksgiving dishes.

AJ (Thanksgiving) OC: …enjoy it. :19
“My favorite Thanksgiving dish would be the homemade dressin’ that we, cornbread-based kind of dressin’ that we always have with turkey. That recipe is a kind of a combination of my mama, and Denise has taken it and perfected it over the years, so that me and my children really enjoy it.”

Audio / Brothers Osborne talk about their favorite Thanksgiving tradition – a Misfits Thanksgiving -- that they started when they moved to Nashville because they couldn’t afford to go home for the holiday.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (Misfits Thanksgiving) OC: (TJ) …Happy holidays, y’all. 1:02
“What’s up, y’all? It’s Brothers Osborne here. And a Thanksgiving tradition that we did for so many years. John and I would host what we would call a Misfits Thanksgiving, and we would have everyone, I mean we must’ve done this for 15 years or so and it really started because we didn’t have enough money to go back home to see our family, so we would hang out in Nashville. And so everyone that was kind of in our same shoes, we’d all end up at our house, and it really turned into really blossoming some of our most cherished relationships. We would be there with Kacey Musgraves. It was the first time I really got to hang out with Mickey Guyton (JOHN: “Maren Morris.”) Maren Morris. They would come over and we just became like family to each other because we couldn’t get home to see our own families. And that’s a Thanksgiving tradition that we still to this day try to keep, and it’s a revolving door of who’s there or who’s not there, but yeah, it’s a wonderful tradition. And let me tell you, spending it with our friends in Nashville, there’s a little less arguing than back home. (laughs)” JOHN: “We’re still arguing, but we get over it faster.” (laughs) TJ: “Anyways, Happy Holidays, y’all.”

Audio / Carrie Underwood says she’s grateful for her family.

Carrie Underwood (Thanksgiving 2023) OC: …we all are. :30
“I am grateful for so many things this Thanksgiving. I think the thing I’m most grateful for, though, is family. I mean, that’s what it’s all about, and that’s what this life is all about. I’m blessed to have two incredible boys that I get to take care of and that love on me daily, and they’re just giant blessings in my life, and of course, my extended family, as well. That’s what this time of year’s all about – getting together and just realizing how blessed we all are.”

Audio / Carrie Underwood says she and her family don’t have too many Thanksgiving traditions.

    Download

Carrie Underwood (Thanksgiving) OC: …the other one. :34
“We don’t have too many set-in-stone Thanksgiving traditions. I find myself a lot of times working on or around Thanksgiving or unable to get home or whatever. We try to be together, but sometimes that just doesn’t work out. But yeah, I mean, I think it’s just about we eat. I eat a lot every year on Thanksgiving. [laughs] I never skip THAT tradition. But yeah, that’s the gist of it, and I’m kind of lucky. I get two Thanksgivings, because I also get to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with my husband’s family, so if I don’t hit one, I’ll definitely be able to get the other one.”

Catie Offerman (Thanksgiving) OC: …what I do. :17
“I am so thankful for a lot of things. I think my family, the gift of being able to put music out this year has been huge for me. I think that’s something I’ve waited on for a really long time, and I’m so thankful for that. I’m thankful for my health and just being able to keep playing music and doing what I do.”

Audio / Caylee Hammack says Thanksgiving is her favorite holiday, because she gets to just spend time with her family.

    Download

Caylee Hammack (Thanksgiving) OC: …favorite holiday. :27
“Thanksgiving is the one holiday where we stay at home. We stay at my family’s house, and it’s just me, my mom and dad, my brother and sister and their families. We all sit around and just eat all day. And I love Thanksgiving because you don’t have to worry about getting gifts for people; you don’t have to worry about wrapping them. You just show up and you eat all day with the people you love. So, I absolutely love Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday.”

Audio / Caylee Hammack talks about her favorite Thanksgiving dish.

    Download

Caylee Hammack (Thanksgiving eats) OC: …cranberry jelly. :15
“My favorite Thanksgiving meal (dish) is definitely cornbread dressing. My mom makes the best, er, some people call it stuffing, but I’ve always called it dressing for some reason. But I love that with canned cranberry jelly.”

Audio / Dalton Dover says this one dish HAS to be on the dinner table at Thanksgiving.

Dalton Dover (Thanksgiving eats) 1 OC: …at Thanksgiving. :04

Darius Rucker (favorite part of Thanksgiving) OC: …my family. :17
“My favorite part of Thanksgiving is easy – it’s food. It’s eating. It’s hanging out with family and getting some great food, ‘cause that’s really what Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving is about giving thanks for all of the great things you’ve got, and I always give thanks for the greatest thing I’ve got and that’s my family.”

Audio / Zealous football fan Darius Rucker says Thanksgiving is his favorite sporting day of the year.

“Thanksgiving Day is my favorite sports day of the year. It’s crazy how much football you get to watch (laughs) on Thanksgiving Day, so I really like that a lot. Thanksgiving is big for me.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley, who is thankful for his wife, two daughters and son, talks about his Thanksgiving must-have! It’s an oldie, but a goodie!

    Download

Dierks Bentley (Thanksgiving must-have) OC: …for Thanksgiving. :34
“You gotta have a big turkey. Thanksgiving is not possible without a turkey. We cook it traditionally, but when we’re in, a couple of Thanksgivings ago, we were here in Nashville, we did the whole fry the turkey up, and it was great. It just tasted so good; all those juices get locked in there, and I love that too. You really can’t, to me, cook a turkey wrong. I’m gonna eat it any way, and I have over the years. Trust me, I’ve played a lot of county and state fairs, where I’ve seen gigantic turkey legs, you know, I’ve had the flat meat. I’ve done turkey every way you could do it. I’m pretty good any way you want to cook it up, but you’ve got to have a turkey for Thanksgiving.”

Audio / Jon Langston talks about his Thanksgiving tradition.

    Download

Jon Langston (Thanksgiving) OC: …pretty cool. :21
“We always watch football on Thanksgiving. It was pretty cool in high school. It was a big deal in high school if you had practice on Thanksgiving Day because you made third round of the playoffs. So, in high school we always had practice on Thanksgiving, so I guess that was pretty cool. Everybody’s waking up on a cold Thanksgiving morning going to football practice, but yeah, pretty cool.”

Audio / Jordan Davis talks about his childhood Thanksgiving traditions.

    Download

Jordan Davis (Thanksgiving) OC: …lot of football. :12
“When I was growing up at Thanksgiving, we just got all the family together. You know, did the traditional turkey, ham, all the sides, but it was always at either one of my grandparents’ house. Just a lot of family, a lot of food and a lot of football.”

Audio / Jordan Davis says his favorite Thanksgiving side dish makes him happy all year round.

    Download

Jordan Davis (Thanksgiving side dish) 2 OC: …Cheese guy. :09

Audio / Jordan Davis says one of his new favorite Thanksgiving traditions is frying a turkey.

    Download

Jordan Davis (Thanksgiving turkey) OC: …most forward to. :11
“Favorite Thanksgiving tradition for me? I just recently got into frying the turkey, so I’m the turkey-frying guy, and I’m getting pretty good at it. So, I would have to say that’s my thing that I look most forward to.”

Audio / Jordan Davis talks about the Davis family Thanksgiving.

    Download

Jordan Davis (Thanksgiving memory) OC: …really special. :17
“A typical Thanksgiving in the Davis household growing up – we would always go to East Texas to my grandparents’ house. You know, during the day, me and my grandfather would always go fish. My grandma would always have a huge spread, and just get to spend time around a lot of family members I don’t get to see a lot of, so they were always really special.”

Audio / Josh Turner shares his favorite Thanksgiving side dish.

    Download

Josh Turner (fave side dish) OC: …’em myself. [laughs] :24
“Uh, deviled eggs! [laughs] Where I’m from in South Carolina, I don’t think I’ve tasted a bad deviled egg. It’s like everybody has their own twist on it, but they’re all good, but I always loved it when my mama made ‘em. I’m learning as I get older, making deviled eggs is no easy task. It’s more complicated than it looks, and so that’s probably why I never made ‘em myself.” [laughs]

Audio / Josh Turner explains what he enjoys about the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

    Download

Josh Turner (holidays) OC: …the peace and quiet. :38
“I love being outside in nature and the outdoors, and the holidays is a great time for me to go and partake in that part of my life. A lot of times, Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s a little cold to go fishing, but when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s a great time to go hunting, especially in South Carolina, that’s when the temperatures are starting to drop and the conditions are getting right, and especially in November, kind of the tail end of the rut, as far as deer season. So, it’s a good time to get in the deer stand whether you kill anything or not, it’s just a great time to just get away from everything and get away from the noise and the lights and the diesel fumes [laughs] and just relax and just enjoy the peace and quiet.”

Audio / Keith Urban gives thanks for many things, including his wife and two daughters.

    Download

Keith (Thanksgiving) OC: …for me. :21
“Thankful that, well, my marriage is just, it’s life-giving, not just life-changing, it’s been life-giving for me. And from there, we created life, and that’s just beautiful, absolutely beautiful. And the effect that all of that has had in my work, has given life to it too, given it a sense of purpose and really deepened the experience for me.”

Audio / The members of Little Big Town love Thanksgiving since they get time off to be with their families.

KIMBERLY: “Thanksgiving—we love Thanksgiving, ‘cause we get to be with our families and we don’t often get to spend time with our families, our extended families, until the holidays. I love being around the table with my family and talking and laughing and cooking and eating…” JIMI: “And eating and eating and eating and eating…” PHILLIP: “The laughter around the eating, the good cheer, the celebration, the music…” JIMI: “The eating, going taking a nap, then coming back and eating.” KIMBERLY: “Go to bed with a full belly, take a nap, and then get up and eat.”

Audio / Maddie & Tae talk about their Thanksgiving traditions.

    Download

Maddie & Tae (Thanksgiving) OC: (TAE) …I do. :41
MADDIE: “I love Thanksgiving because I get to see my family, and it’s not as much pressure as Christmas I feel like because there are no gifts exchanged. It’s just all about quality time and I love quality time. My favorite dish is some broccoli-cheese casserole and Tae’s favorite dish, I know, is cranberry sauce, just plain. Just plain ole cranberry sauce, no turkey, just cranberry sauce.” TAE: “She knows.” MADDIE: “That’s it.” TAE: “I genuinely feel there’s something wrong with me. (MADDIE: “Out of the can.”) out of the can. My parents know just to have cranberry sauce for me, like no one else can touch it. There’s a home video where my brother Mason tries to eat it, and I’m like, ‘What are you doing? This is mine.’” MADDIE: “She eats it out of the can.” TAE: “I do.”

Audio / Mickey Guyton talks about one of her favorite Thanksgiving traditions.

Mickey Guyton (Thanksgiving traditions) OC: …Thanksgiving traditions. :17
“One of my Thanksgiving traditions is playing charades after Thanksgiving dinner. I’m not the most competitive person in the world, but as soon as you put some Charades in the picture, I am crazy, and you will definitely want to be on my team if we’re playing Charades. I’m just saying. So, that’s one of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions.”

Audio / Mickey Guyton reveals her favorite Thanksgiving dish.

Mickey Guyton (favorite Thanksgiving dish) OC: …both so much! :39
“My favorite Thanksgiving dish that has to, has to, has to be at Thanksgiving dinner is dessert. Dessert is my favorite Thanksgiving dish. I mean, it doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s sweet. My mom actually makes an Italian cream cake that’s absolutely awesome. It’s homemade, and the entire family, that’s the first thing to go at Thanksgiving dinner. And my Grandma D, she makes a pecan pie that is awesome. She taught me how to make them when I was little, and I just love them, and that’s the other thing that I look forward to at Thanksgiving dinner, and I love them both so much!”

Audio / Parker McCollum talks about his family’s Thanksgiving tradition.

    Download

Parker McCollum (Thanksgiving tradition) OC: …go there. :27
“I mean, my parents have been split up for a long time, but they’re all from the same town. My mom and dad went to high school together and all that stuff and all the family still lives back there on both sides. So, we kind of do a Thanksgiving with my dad’s side of the family, but all my life, we’ve always gone to my mom’s parents’ house on Thanksgiving, and they got a big ole house and a bunch of property and it’s really where I grew up is right there. That’s kind of home for me, so that’s kind of our thing. We always go there.”

Audio / One of Parker McCollum’s favorite dishes at Thanksgiving is his Aunt’s creamed corn.

Audio / Priscilla Block describes a typical Thanksgiving holiday with her family.

    Download

Priscilla Block (Thanksgiving) OC: …so much. :34
“Thanksgiving has always been chaos, actually any holiday that my entire family is there is straight chaos. But for Thanksgiving, we all try so hard to be together and it’s such a fun holiday to, my family’s a little cheesy. Like, we actually still go around the table and being like, ‘What are you thankful for?’ ‘What are you thankful for?’ So, that means a lot where it’s not about presents, it’s not about anything else. It’s just about truly being thankful, and that’s why I love Thanksgiving so much.”

Audio / Reba McEntire explains what she's most thankful for this year.

Reba McEntire (Thankful) OC: …happy camper. :39
“Omigosh I wake up in the morning grateful that I can, that I’m alive, I can breathe, I can move, I can get out of bed on my own. (I’m) very grateful for the lifestyle that I have and if anybody needs help, please Lord please, direct me in what you want me to do. Just grateful for getting Rex in my life, my family being healthy and happy, my friends being healthy and happy. I’ve got a great job and people I love and get to work with, and I’ve got a huge faith. So, no matter what happens to me, I know where I’m going, so I’m a happy camper.”

“When I pile my plate up, it’s mostly turkey and then I’ll put a little dressing on the side, and I’ll usually go ahead and grab my dessert on the first run [laughs] and have it ready before it all disappears.”

Travis Denning (typical Thanksgiving holiday) OC: …a lot of people. :22
“A typical Thanksgiving growing up was essentially and the men of the family – Dad and Uncle Mike and my granddaddy — watching football, while grandmama and my mom pretty much yelled at each other in the kitchen the whole day. But they threw down and made the best food you could ever imagine, which you know is kind of how it is for a lot of people.”

“The ideal Thanksgiving menu to me is a little bit of turkey, but definitely prioritizing ham. I’m a firm believer in ham at Thanksgiving. Squash casserole, broccoli casserole, stuffing and then beer.”

Audio / Tyler Hubbard talks about his favorite Thanksgiving traditions.

Tyler Hubbard (Thanksgiving) OC: …I love it. :22
“Favorite Thanksgiving tradition for me is probably just getting together with family, having a big meal and watching a little football and taking a nice long nap. I mean, we didn’t reinvent the wheel with Thanksgiving by any means. But my Nanny (grandmother) does make a pretty mean sweet potato casserole, so that’s one of my favorites that I look forward to and I don’t know if that’s a tradition or not, but in my head it is. I love it.”

  • CATIE OFFERMAN LETS THE COWGIRL TAKE THE REINS IN NEW SONG “OK COWBOY.”

MCA Nashville’s Catie Offerman released a new track today, “Ok Cowboy,” which is a song about the tables being turned, set in a bar with the woman taking the lead. Written by Offerman, Joe Clemmons, Matt Dragstrem and Adam James, the song was produced by Dann Huff. “Ok Cowboy” has been a crowd favorite in Offerman’s live shows and is one that the rising country star has been wanting to put out to the fans.

“This has been one of my most favorite songs to play live this past year. The reaction from the crowds has been amazing and I’ve had so many people ask when it was going to come out that honestly, I’ve been dying to release it since the day we wrote it,” said Offerman. “So glad the time is here!  ‘OK Cowboy’ was a funny thing that me and my good friends would say to each other in a really high pitched, quirky voice. One day I said, dang that’s a song!  We sat down to write it and I was so excited to go into the studio to record it. I love the edge to this song because you know they say it’s the cowboy that rides away but that’s not always the case.”

    Lyrics

That seat is open if you wanna sit down

Looks like you in that Stetson might be gettin’ my next round

Kinda love them boots and that outlaw smile

That laid back blue jean cool thing is just my style

    The bar’s about the close

You think you’d know how this goes

Ok cowboy, I’ll let you kiss me

Let you think you’re kinda wild, it’s my first rodeo

Ok cowboy, I’ll sip your whiskey

But it don’t burn like me, boy, just so you know

I ain’t a stranger to a dust cloud heartbreak song

If I ride away will you be ok cowboy

Guess you ain’t scared, as you slide in closer

Take my hand, tip the band, play something slower

Give you one more song and if you prove me wrong, that’d be

Ok cowboy, I’ll let you kiss me

Let you think you’re kinda wild, it’s my first rodeo

Ok cowboy, I’ll sip your whiskey

But it don’t burn like me, boy, just so you know

I ain’t a stranger to a dust cloud heartbreak song

If I ride away will you be ok cowboy

    Ok Cowboy

    The bar’s about to close

And you don’t want me to go

    Ok cowboy

Ok cowboy, I’ll let you kiss me

Let you think you’re kinda wild, it’s my first rodeo

Ok cowboy, I won’t make you miss me

At least for the night but just so you know

I ain’t a stranger to a dust cloud heartbreak song

If I ride away will you be ok cowboy

    Oh, Ok cowboy

Audio / Catie Offerman talks about her new song, "Ok Cowboy."

Catie Offerman (Ok Cowboy) OC: …proud of it. :47
“This song was so much fun just writing it, coming up with it. ‘Ok Cowboy’ was a funny phrase that me and a close friend of mine would always say to each other. We’d say, ‘Ok Cowboy,’ and we said that for a while, and at some point, I was like, ‘You know what? I actually think that’s a song.’ I took it to a couple of buddies of mine, and we sat down and wrote this song. I think the cool thing about it is the twist of it’s actually the girl kind of taking the ball in her hands and saying, ‘You gonna be ok if I leave you in the morning? I won’t leave you lonely tonight, but no promises on tomorrow. Like you gonna be ok, cowboy?’ And I think it’s just cool. It gives her that kind of like, I don’t know, edge, and that’s fun to me because you usually expect the guy to leave, but in this case, it’s kind of in the girl’s hands. So, I think that’s special. It’s fun, and I’m proud of it.”

  • CATIE OFFERMAN JOINS GEORGE STRAIT’S SOLD-OUT TWO-NIGHT RETURN TO FORT WORTH.

Rising artist and Texas native Catie Offerman will serve as the special guest for George Strait’s sold-out, two-night-only event set for Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena. Offerman joins the concert lineup in place of previously-announced special guest Caitlyn Smith, who is taking a break from touring to welcome a new baby in November.

The two-night stand is a reprise of Strait’s two nights at Dickies Arena in 2022, which both sold out within hours of going on sale to the public. This year saw the King of Country play one-off stadium shows in just six markets, setting multiple venue attendance records along the way. He recently announced an extension into 2024, with one-off stadium shows planned for nine additional cities on sale now.

The Texas troubadour is the only artist or act in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for over three decades and recently earned his 100th entry on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with his latest single,“The Weight of the Badge.” He has sold more than 105 million albums and earned more than 60 major entertainment industry awards, including induction in the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

She’s been touring with national acts such as Parker McCollum, Ian Munsick and Ashley McBryde. She’s also collaborated with fellow Texans such as Josh Abbott, Robert Earl Keen, Kevin Fowler and Hayes Carll. Offerman’s performed on the Grand Ole Opry and brought her style of Texas music across the pond to C2C 2023 in London.
