• GEORGE STRAIT PULLS UP A CHAIR TO NO. 1.

George Strait’s Cold Beer Conversation climbs to the top of the Country Album chart during its second week of release. Sold in only two places — at iTunes and Walmart – the collection is also sitting inside the Top 10 on Billboard’s overall Top 200 album chart, as well.

The new single from the project is “Cold Beer Conversation,” and George says the person he’d most like to have a cold beer conversation with his late father, John Byron Strait.

“I’d love to have a CBC with my dad, even though he never was a drinker,” George says. “I think it would have been so much fun. We had great conversations; it would be just awesome to be able to do that again.”

Strait’s new music has resonated not only with fans, but also with the “King of Country Music” himself as he prepares to launch an exclusive concert series at the Las Vegas Arena opening in April 2016. All six dates for his “Strait to Vegas” run are currently sold out, with more shows to be added to accommodate the overwhelming demand. GRAMMY, ACM and CMA Award-winning singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves will join Strait as support on all dates.

With 60 No. 1 singles and nearly 70 million records sold, Strait has more No. 1 songs than any other artist and is third only to Elvis Presley and The Beatles with the most Gold and Platinum albums in history. He is the most-nominated artist in CMA Awards history and was the first country music artist honored with Billboard’s “Legend Of Live” Award.

Cold Beer Conversation is available now at Apple Music and Walmart. For more information on “Strait to Vegas” dates and more, visit www.GeorgeStrait.com and www.StraitToVegas.com.

“I’d like to have a couple conversations with my dad again, that would be huge. I miss that part. If I had to pick somebody to have a CBC… I’d love to have a CBC with my dad, even though he never was a drinker! I think it would have been so much fun. We had great conversations; it would be just awesome to be able to do that again. So, that’s who I would pick.”

  • GEORGE STRAIT’S ‘STRAIT TO VEGAS’ DATES ARE SOLD OUT!

Fans were ecstatic when George Strait announced that he would be heading to Sin City for an exclusive concert series at the Las Vegas Arena in 2016 and releasing his new album, Cold Beer Conversation, last week. The demand for new music from Strait translated to an immediate sellout of all six dates of his “Strait to Vegas” run after tickets went on sale today, with more dates to be added. The staggering response from fans already prompted Strait to add two shows to the series, which is currently scheduled for April 22, April 23, September 9, September 10, December 2 and December 3, 2016. GRAMMY, ACM and CMA Award-winning singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves will join him as support for the full run.

With the release of the 13-track Cold Beer Conversation, fans and critics alike have made it known that the “King of Country Music” remains at the top of his game. The Plain Dealer proclaims that “the hardest part about reviewing George Strait’s surprise new album, Cold Beer Conversation, is deciding which of the 13 tracks to gush over first” and describes the instantly relatable title cut, which is also the lead single at country radio now, as “a great little ditty about ‘a couple of ol’ boys’ just sharing a few brews, reminiscing about high school football, worrying about aging parents and trying to figure out the world.”

The Associated Press notes, “Cold Beer Conversation is vintage Strait. He has such a strong vocal presence… the highlights prove that Strait remains at the top of his game: From the casual way he captures a meaningful talk between buddies on the title cut to the melodic intimacy of ‘Let It Go’ to the jaunty swing of ‘It Takes All Kinds,’ the album adds another gem to one of country music’s deepest, most entertaining catalogs” and Billboardechoes that reverence, observing that “the key to Strait’s success is that he brings a different flavor and nuance to each song, even if the subject matter is similar. More than 30 years since his MCA Nashville debut (he’s still on the same label after all these decades), his smooth tenor is as clear as ever and each subtlety — a well-placed chuckle, a tiny sigh — still resonates.”

Cold Beer Conversation is available now at Apple Music and Walmart.

With 60 No. 1 singles and nearly 70 million records sold, Strait is the most-nominated artist in CMA Awards history and was the first country music artist honored with Billboard’s “Legend Of Live” Award. His last show, which took place at AT&T Stadium on June 7, 2014, shattered the North American attendance record for an indoor concert with 104,793 ticket-holders.

  • GEORGE STRAIT’S ‘COLD BEER CONVERSATION’ IS A PERFECT FIT.

George Strait’s Cold Beer Conversation has a very cool and descriptive title, which hit the Texas native right away, so he decided to call this new collection…Cold Beer Conversation after one of the songs on his brand new album.

“What a perfect title. I never go in to the studio with a title in mind. I always complete the project and then go ‘What am I gonna call this?’ Because you kinda gotta get a feel for that. So, I’m trying to think of something that really says what this album’s about, and it just jumped out at me. ‘Cold Beer Conversations,’” says George. “How many cold beer conversations have you had? That song was perfect for me — about life or about politics or just different things that come up when you’re having a cold beer with one or your buddies or several. I just love the title, I think it fits perfectly.”

George announces the new CD in Las Vegas just a couple of days prior to its release last week, and he also revealed a few shows at the new Las Vegas Arena in 2016. The superstar will play Sin City December 2nd and 3rd, 2016, as well as April 22nd and 23rd and September 9th and 10th, 2016. He’ll be one of the first entertainers to perform at the Las Vegas Arena.

I miss it a lot. It’s been a year and two or three months since I’ve performed live with my band as far as doing a show, and when that comes around it’ll have been almost 2 years, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there and knocking the dust off and pulling my chair back up to that table. George Strait (special guests at last show) OC: …great idea. :58
“We wanted to make it something different, something very, very special, something that people didn’t necessarily think they would see at one of my shows – not all of the fireworks and all that kind of thing, but just something a little different. Since we toured with those people all year, we planned on this, getting them if they would, to come and finish it out in Dallas with us. I think it really made the night more special than it would have been if I’d just gone up there and done my normal show. It was more exciting, I think, to have them come up and them being able to choose what songs they wanted to sing of mine, helped me really make the song list around that. So, we thought it was a great idea.”

  • TEXAN GEORGE STRAIT ‘RISES’ TO THE CHALLENGE.

George Strait contributed the original song, “Take Me To Texas” – written by Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, to the soundtrack of The History Channel’s mini-series, Texas Rising, which premiered Monday night (May 25th).

George says he was happy to contribute to the soundtrack, especially considering his love of the Lonestar State.

“I’ve always said Texas is the greatest state, you know, bar none…I was born here and raised in Texas, and the only other time I ever lived anywhere else was when I was in the Army, and so I wouldn’t think of calling anyplace else home. This is my home,” says the Country Music Hall of Famer. “When they asked me if I would think about doing this song for the soundtrack or wherever it’s gonna be in the Texas Rising — it’s a film for the History Channel, it’s a series, and it’s really cool…It’s about The Alamo and the history of how Texas came about and all of that, so…and the song is great. I love it. So, it didn’t take me long to decide, ‘Yeah, I want to do it.’”

Kris Kristofferson, who plays Andrew Jackson in the mini-series event, also appears on the soundtrack, having recorded a remake of the Tom Petty classic, “I Won’t Back Down.”

Bill PaxtonRay Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Oliver Martinez, Brendan Fraser and Thomas Jane star in the action-packed mini-series about the history of Texas.

George has hit the airwaves with his latest single, “Let It Go,” which is the first release from his forthcoming studio album.

George Strait (Texas Rising) OC: …gonna be great. :55
“Well, I’ve always said Texas is the greatest state, you know, bar none. And I loved touring other places, but there’s nothing like playing here, and I was born here and raised in Texas, and the only other time I ever lived anywhere else was when I was in the Army, and so I wouldn’t think of calling anyplace else home. This is my home. So, when I got the, when they asked me if I would think about doing this song for the soundtrack or wherever it’s gonna be in the Texas Rising, it’s a film for the History Channel, it’s a series, and it’s really cool. I’ve just seen the trailers, and it’s really cool. It’s about The Alamo and the history of how Texas came about and all of that, so…and the song is great. I love it. So, it didn’t take me long to decide, ‘Yeah, I want to do it,’ especially after I watched the trailers. So, I hope everyone watches it. I think it’s gonna be great.”

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 7, 2015) – The soundtrack to HISTORY®’s highly-anticipated series event, “
TEXAS RISING,” releases to all digital retailers on May 18. The compilation includes recordings by George Strait, Kris Kristofferson, José Feliciano, John Debney and Bruce Broughton.

Quintessential Texan and iconic singer/songwriter George Strait delivers original song, “Take Me To Texas,” written by Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, while another Texas son, Kris Kristofferson, remade the Tom Petty classic, “I Won’t Back Down” for the project.  International guitar virtuoso José Feliciano contributed the original piece “Igual Que Yo” created specifically for “TEXAS RISING.” The remaining titles on the 28-track album are instrumental score by Academy Award-nominated composer John Debney and ten-time Emmy Award-winning Bruce Broughton.  The first time for both composers to work in Nashville, Debney and Broughton fully created the “TEXAS RISING” score at the famed Ocean Way Studios on Music Row.

From the same creative team behind the multi-Emmy Award-winning, record-breaking “Hatfields & McCoys,” “TEXAS RISING” is a ten-hour, five-part series event depicting the Texas Revolution and the rise of the legendary Texas Rangers – set to air beginning Monday, May 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HISTORY. The all-star cast includes Kristofferson as Andrew Jackson, Bill Paxton as Sam Houston, Olivier Martinez as Santa Anna, Ray Liotta as Lorca and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Deaf Smith.
