  • NEW YEAR’S EVE 2017

What are some of your favorite stars doing to welcome in the New Year? Some of them are working to help fans celebrate. Several artists have taken the time off around the holidays and will hit it hard when they return to the road in January. Some artists have resolutions and some are very helpful with their own hangover cures for those who imbibe too much on New Year’s Eve.

Keith Urban is set to headline Music City on New Year’s Eve for the second year in a row. He’ll perform against the backdrop of the State Capitol Building as part of the Jack Daniels Music City Midnight Bash. Maren Morris, Cheap Trick, Carly Pearce, Johnny P, Larkin Poe and the Fisk Jubilee Singers are also on the bill.

Canaan Smith will perform on New Year’s Eve in Nashville as part of Team USA’s WinterFest at the Walk of Fame Park at 3:30p.

Audio / Brothers Osborne talk about how people spend the last moments of the year, and the first moments of the new year.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (New Year) OC: (TJ) …next month. :44
JOHN: “I think it’s kind of funny how we spend literally the last moment and the very first moment of every year being extremely intoxicated, extremely, because you don’t want to wait until like 12:30 to get your buzz on. You’ve got to do it before midnight, and then once midnight happens, you’re like, ‘Omigod! Now it’s time to celebrate even more.’ Debauchery is the literally bookending your entire year.” TJ: “I love how everyone starts the year off with diets and then we end the year with like excessive amounts of food. And then you get to the end of the year, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start a diet on the 1st, so I’m going to eat everything that’s in front of me.’ I love it.” JOHN: “And come February 1st, ‘what diet?’” [laughs] TJ: “What diet? I’ll start it next month.” [laughs]

Audio / John Osborne of Brothers Osborne says a little hair of the dog is definitely the cure for a hangover.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (hangover cure) OC: …of the year. :07
“Usually drinking more. I mean, a little hair of the dog never hurt anybody. Plus, it’s the first of the year.”

Audio / Canaan Smith says there’s really no cure for a hangover.

    Download

Canaan Smith (no hangover cure) OC: …long, you know? :32
“There is no hangover cure. The older I get I’m like, ‘Oh God! What am I thinking?’ It’s terrible. Hangovers are awful. Tequila’s the worst. I try to stay away from Tequila, because it hurts me bad. I used to be a whiskey guy. I still am every now and then, but of late, I’m domestic, American beer, just something light and tasty. Shots are my worst enemy. When I start working shots into the picture, that’s when I know I’m gonna hurt the next morning. I just try to keep it the same, whether it’s whiskey or beer or whatever, I just stick with that same drink the whole night long, you know?”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says there’s not really a cure for a hangover.

    Download

Dierks (NYE) OC: …for that. :10
“I think January first is universally accepted as a dog. So I mean, a little hair of the dog, I guess. But just…water and stay on the couch, I guess. There’s no real sure-fire cure for that.”

Audio / Eric Church has a couple of hangover cures for those times (especially on New Year’s Eve) when you might imbibe a little too much.

    Download

Eric Church (hangover cure) OC: …every time. :17
“The best hangover cure – I’ve got two. One is 5-hour Energy [bottles], because of all the B-vitamins that are in it. You can start pounding those, and it’s either gonna work, or it’s gonna keep you up and prolong your misery. But the other one I have is just take two Advil and a beer in the morning. Hair of the dog, man – that works every time.”

    Audio /

    Download

Jon Pardi (hangover cure) OC: …deal with it. :20
“My hangover cure is Bloody Marys, but be careful – because once you have a couple, don’t go to beer, because if you go to beer, you’re gonna start drinking again and you’ll end up a morning drunk. OR if you want to go the non-alcoholic route, there’s nothing you can do for hangovers. [laughs] You just go deal with it.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves, who is expected to release her new album sometime in 2018, has her own hangover cure.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (hangover cure) OC: …water. Yup! :32
“Coconut water is a major help with hangovers and also, a lot of times we go and eat Vietnamese fuh. It’s a soup, and it’s got this awesome broth. You can get different things in it or whatever, but for some reason, it’s just like…it’s almost like a chicken noodle soup kind of an idea, you know, but it’s good. That’s good for hangovers too. That, sleep, Tylenol, coconut water and just water, in general. And when you’re drinking, have your alcohol, drink a little bit of water, drink some more alcohol, drink some water. Yup!”

Audio / Keith Urban talks about the emotions he feels on New Year’s Eve.

    Download

Keith Urban (New Year’s emotions) OC: …of time. :35
“Yeah, I go for every emotion on New Year’s Eve, every emotion – regret, remorse, melancholy, joy, hope, sadness, gratitude, calm, anxiety. [laughs] There’s a lot in that night for a lot of people. I’ve always been a big, I love New Year’s…Nic’s not a big New Year’s Eve person. I love New Year’s Eve. The counting down is important to me and I find it huge, that demarcation of time.”

Audio / Kip Moore gives advice on how to avoid a hangover on New Year’s Eve.

    Download

Kip Moore (avoiding hangovers on NYE) OC: …yourself. :03
“Pace yourself on New Year’s – that’s the remedy. Pace yourself.”

Audio / Luke Bryan’s favorite New Year’s Eve has to be when he and his now wife Caroline reunited.

    Download

Luke Bryan (New Years-best) OC: …great night. :17
“My best New Year’s Eve is definitely when my wife and I started back dating. We started back dating right before Christmas, and we went on a trip down to Florida and met some friends. And her birthday is New Year’s Eve. We celebrated it that night. It was just a great night.”

Audio / Luke Bryan takes a look back at his busy 2017, including releasing his brand new album, What Makes You Country.

    Download

Luke Bryan (looking back on 2017) OC: …about it. :40
“I look back on the year, and certainly it’s been a crazy busy year, but I don’t know any other way on doing this business other than it being really, really crazy and really, really busy. I try to sit down and write music and write songs and then I’m constantly listening through what the city of Nashville and what all the wonderful songwriters there are churning out. So, yeah, listening and writing and then we go into the studio and try to make some music happen. So, we’ve been going in periodically through the year in getting this album done, and it’s finally, finally here and I’m pretty excited about it.”

  • CHRISTMAS 2017: Jon Pardi

Jon Pardi likes a good holiday movie. One of his favorite Christmas films is Bad Santa, starring Billy Bob Thornton, but for the PG crowd, it would have to be Elf.

Bad Santa’s pretty good,” he says. “But I have to say if you’re gonna watch it with little cousins, I would have to say Elf is pretty much probably one of the funniest Christmas movies to ever be that new and beat out all of the old Christmas movies. It is definitely up there.”

The CMA and ACM New Artist of the Year, who is climbing the country charts with “She Ain’t In It,” will hit the road with Miranda Lambert January 18th in Greenville, South Carolina.

Audio / Jon Pardi says if you’re an adult, Bad Santa, is a great holiday movie, but if you’re kid, Elf is the one to beat.

  • JON PARDI WRAPS RECORD-BREAKING ‘CMT ON TOUR PRESENTS JON PARDI’S LUCKY TONIGHT TOUR.’

CMA New Artist Of The Year and reigning ACM New Male Vocalist Jon Pardi wrapped his headlining “CMT On Tour Presents Jon Pardi’s Lucky Tonight Tour” this past weekend tallying all sold-out shows, record-breaking numbers and a total of 66,319 tickets sold overall. Stops along the way on his third headlining tour included Grayson Stadium in Savannah, GA, which sold-out with the most tickets sold since Bob Dylan in ‘05 (Peachtree Ent.) and Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, TX, which sold out days in advance – a rare feat considering the last show to sell out in advance was Florida Georgia Line in ‘13 (Chris Spinks, Marketing Director, Billy Bob’s). Pardi’s live show was named a Boston Globe “Top 15 folk or country concert this fall,” The Houston Press said, “Pardi would have easily been labeled a throwback if he didn’t strike such a chord with today’s fans” and the Minneapolis City Pages said, “…Pardi will be at or near country music’s forefront for years to come.” Pollstar shared an in-depth interview HERE. The “CMT On Tour Presents Jon Pardi’s Lucky Tonight Tour” featured Midland and Runaway June and was CMT’s fastest and best-selling CMT On Tour series to date. View a recap video of the tour, here: https://youtu.be/S2eq0gsbOiE.

Pardi’s current single “She Ain’t In It” is currently Top 40-and-climbing the country music charts and was the most-added song on country radio with more than 50 first-week stations. “She Ain’t In It” is an easily identifiable traditional country song. Sounds Like Nashville said Pardi is, “Known as one to not back away from the traditional elements that defined Nashville’s country music decades ago…” and “She Ain’t In It” “…revives the good ol’ days of the format…” Saving Country Music noted that the song “…might be the most hard country song released on a mainstream country record in years, or at least from someone whose career is more ahead of them than behind…” and Billboard called it “…a stone-cold weeper that would make George Strait nod with approval.” “She Ain’t In It” follows Pardi’s three consecutive chart-topping hits “Dirt On My Boots,” “Head Over Boots,” and “Heartache On The Dance Floor” from GOLD-certified album California Sunrise (Capitol Records Nashville).

Pardi is currently nominated for the 2017 Rare Country Awards in the New Artist Of The Year category and will be heading back out on the road with Miranda Lambert’s Livin’ Like Hippies Tour in 2018. For a full list of tour dates and more information, visit http://www.jonpardi.com/.

  • CMA NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR JON PARDI IS HUMBLED BY HIS SUCCESS.

Jon Pardi picked up his first CMA Award for New Artist of the Year, and he wished he had more time to thank EVERYBODY.

“If I did win, my dream was to get like a receipt and drop it and be like, ‘These are all of the people I need to thank right here,’ you know, and it keeps going,’ says Jon. “It’s been an amazing year, and I’ve had people that believed in me since day one and I’m just glad that I had somebody like Capitol Records, country radio. They just stuck behind me and never gave up on me.”

The West Coast native’s determination to keep plugging at his music career led to his success. “When I drove here from California, I said, ‘Man, it’s going to be a crappy ride back. That’s a long ways,’” he says. “But, perseverance and believing in myself and constantly keeping myself around people I believe in and just sticking with it. It’s so amazing to be sitting here finally, and I said this is the year that my family doesn’t have to stop the recording to find me in the audience.”

Jon is climbing the country charts with his latest song, “She Ain’t In It,” the follow-up to three No. 1 hits from his sophomore album, California Sunrise.

“You get off stage [after] you do your speech and there’s so many other people that you just [want to thank]…if I did win, my dream was to get like a receipt and drop it and be like, ‘These are all of the people I need to thank right here,’ you know, and it keeps going. It’s been an amazing year, and I’ve had people that believed in me since day one and I’m just glad that I had somebody like Capitol Records, country radio. They just stuck behind me and never gave up on me.”

“When I drove here from California, I said, ‘Man, it’s going to be a crappy ride back. That’s a long ways.’ But, perseverance and believing in myself and constantly keeping myself around people I believe in and just sticking with it. It’s so amazing to be sitting here finally, and I said this is the year that my family doesn’t have to stop the recording to find me in the audience.”

  • SOME OF NASHVILLE’S BIGGEST STARS HELP RAISE MORE THAN FOUR MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE COUNTRY RISING BENEFIT.

Nashville’s biggest stars united Sunday night for COUNTRY RISING, raising more than four million dollars to support charitable initiatives for those affected by the September 2017 hurricanes as well as victims of the recent shooting in Las Vegas. From top to bottom, the production was as big as the talent that took the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, including host Bobby Bones and performers Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Sam Hunt, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Chris Stapleton, George Strait, Keith Urban and surprise guest Jon Pardi. Additionally, Garth Brooks sent in a special video from Spokane, WA where he donated proceeds from the night’s two shows.

Lady Antebellum opened the show with some of their biggest chart-toppers as well as an ode to Tom Petty as the trio covered “Learning To Fly,” followed by host Bobby Bones welcoming the crowd. “Our country has been hit hard by tragedy this year,” Bones said. “It’s affected our families. It’s affected our friends. It’s affected the Country music community, but even during those hard times what we always try to do is find the good and make the difference, and tonight we’re trying to make the difference.”

Sam Hunt performed a medley of his biggest hits, as well as a unifying chorus of “This Land Is Your Land.” Martina McBride belted out timely songs including “Love’s The Only House” while Keith Urban brought energy to the stage as he interacted with the crowd and performed his soulful “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” Dierks Bentley’s set included his powerful song “Riser,” which he dedicated to the first responders and the community for rallying together and rising up in the midst of tragedy, also surprising the crowd by bringing out special guest Jon Pardi who performed “Dirt On My Boots.”

Jason Aldean took the stage for a significant set, acknowledging the shooting in Vegas that personally affected him.

“It’s been a rough couple months for us up here, and it’s a lot of fun to get back out and play for the people who matter which is you guys,” said Aldean. “I love getting up every day and playing music, and I’ll be damned if anybody out there will ever stop me from doing that.”

Little Big Town performed some of their biggest hits including their smash “Better Man” while Chris Stapleton’s set included his poignant “Broken Halos,” as he announced that he and his wife Morgane are donating $250,000 to the cause.

Reba McEntire’s performance included her tenacious “Going Out Like That” while Garth Brooks sent a surprise special video performing “Callin’ Baton Rouge” from Spokane, WA, donating proceeds from the night’s shows.

George Strait closed out the evening with his beloved hits including “Amarillo By Morning.”

Fans across the country unable to attend the benefit can continue to give by texting ‘NASHVILLE’ to 41010, by donating at www.CountryRising.org or by purchasing merchandise HERE. All proceeds raised will go toward the Country Rising Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which was established to support charitable initiatives to help victims of the September 2017 hurricanes — Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. Additionally, the fund will also envelop victims of the recent shooting in Las Vegas. In the course of rebuilding lives disrupted by these devastating events, there are immediate needs and there also will be long-term needs.

COUNTRY RISING has also been supported by sponsors Citi, Texas Roadhouse, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, BMI, Budweiser, Frost, City National Bank, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store™, Sony Pictures Animation’s THE STAR, WME and Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Additional local businesses including Vintage Sparkle Furniture Rental, Events Plus, Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row, Black Tie Moving, Virago, Hattie B’s, Copper Whisk Cakes, Tin Roof, Dry House, Love and Lion, Foot and Salt Spa, HH Events and Revive Nashville have also stepped up to support the cause.
