  • KACEY MUSGRAVES HITS THE BIG SCREEN WITH ‘MOONSHINE.’

Kacey Musgraves is headed to the big screen this weekend, as she joins Foy Vance, a singer-songwriter from Ireland, for the song “Moonshine.” The song will be heard in the new Ben Affleck movie, Live By Night, in theaters nationwide this Friday (January 13th).

“When I first heard the song, ‘Moonshine,’ I got a really fun, Southern vibe from it, and I thought that it would be kind of a fun challenge for me to figure out how to mix in my own flavor and my own bits of harmony to the song,” says Kacey. “I am one that loves a cinematic experience, so I’m very excited to go to the theater on the day that it comes out and sit with my friends and hear this song that I’m a part of.”

Foy said Kacey was the first choice for the song. “Kacey got involved when we wanted to have a female vocal on there because there are a couple of really strong sort of female characters in the film.”

The film is set in the ‘20s during Prohibition and follows Joe Coughlin (Affleck), a bootlegger, gangster and son of the Boston Police Superintendent.

In addition to Affleck, who also wrote, directed and co-produced Live By Night, the film also stars Elle Fanning (Maleficient), Sienna Miller (G.I. Joe, American Sniper, Foxcatcher), Chris Cooper (A Time to Kill, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy), Titus Welliver (Bosch, Suits, The Good Wife, Sons of Anarchy) and Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy).

  • KACEY MUSGRAVES IS OFF THE MARKET.

Kacey Musgraves received an awesome Christmas present – a new fiancé! Her boyfriend, musician Ruston Kelly, popped the question to Kacey on Christmas Eve in her childhood bedroom.

  • NEW YEAR’S 2016: Brothers Osborne, Canaan, Clare, Dierks, Eric, Jon, Kacey, Keith, Kip, Luke

What are some of your favorite stars doing to welcome in the New Year? Some of them are working to help fans celebrate. Several artists have taken the time off around the holidays and will hit it hard when they return to the road in January. Some artists have resolutions and some are very helpful with their own hangover cures for those who imbibe too much on New Year’s Eve.

Keith Urban is set to headline Music City on New Year’s Eve. He’ll perform at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park as part of the Jack Daniels Music City Midnight bash. Styx, A Thousand Horses, Charlie Worsham, Moon Taxi and the Fisk Jubliee Singers are also on the bill.

Brothers Osborne will ring in the New Year by headlining the New Year’s Eve Bowl Bash in Jacksonville, Florida. The free concert and celebration will take place at the intersection of Forsyth and Ocean in Downtown Jacksonville.

Luke Bryan will spend the night before New Year’s Eve, so New Year’s Eve Eve (December 30th), in Las Vegas performing a show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Audio / Brothers Osborne talk about how people spend the last moments of the year, and the first moments of the new year.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (New Year) OC: (TJ) …next month. :44
JOHN: “I think it’s kind of funny how we spend literally the last moment and the very first moment of every year being extremely intoxicated, extremely, because you don’t want to wait until like 12:30 to get your buzz on. You’ve got to do it before midnight, and then once midnight happens, you’re like, ‘Omigod! Now it’s time to celebrate even more.’ Debauchery is the literally bookending your entire year.” TJ: “I love how everyone starts the year off with diets and then we end the year with like excessive amounts of food. And then you get to the end of the year, you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going to start a diet on the 1st, so I’m going to eat everything that’s in front of me.’ I love it.” JOHN: “And come February 1st, ‘what diet?’” [laughs] TJ: “What diet? I’ll start it next month.” [laughs]

Audio / John Osborne of Brothers Osborne says a little hair of the dog is definitely the cure for a hangover.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (hangover cure) OC: …of the year. :07
“Usually drinking more. I mean, a little hair of the dog never hurt anybody. Plus, it’s the first of the year.”

Audio / Canaan Smith says there’s really no cure for a hangover.

    Download

Canaan Smith (no hangover cure) OC: …long, you know? :32
“There is no hangover cure. The older I get I’m like, ‘Oh God! What am I thinking?’ It’s terrible. Hangovers are awful. Tequila’s the worst. I try to stay away from Tequila, because it hurts me bad. I used to be a whiskey guy. I still am every now and then, but of late, I’m domestic, American beer, just something light and tasty. Shots are my worst enemy. When I start working shots into the picture, that’s when I know I’m gonna hurt the next morning. I just try to keep it the same, whether it’s whiskey or beer or whatever, I just stick with that same drink the whole night long, you know?”

Audio / Clare Dunn suggests a good hangover cure.

    Download

Clare Dunn (hangover cure) OC: …hangover cure. :10
“Greasy food is always kind of a, you can let it go for one day before you start all your resolutions [laughs] after that. So, that’s probably my best hangover cure.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says there’s not really a cure for a hangover.

    Download

Dierks (NYE) OC: …for that. :10
“I think January first is universally accepted as a dog. So I mean, a little hair of the dog, I guess. But just…water and stay on the couch, I guess. There’s no real sure-fire cure for that.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley says he'll take this New Year's Eve in stride.

    Download

Dierks Bentley (New Year’s) OC: …in stride. 1:11
“New Year’s is rough. New Year’s hurts no matter what’s going o n. I’ve played a lot of New Year’s shows, you know, but I’ve honestly found that it’s not my favorite night to throw down. Look, for a living, that’s what I do. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, I host a big party; not only on stage, but I’ve got friends backstage. It starts before the concert sometimes, [and] it goes long after the concert, so a lot of times on New Year’s, I’m looking for a really mellow hang – a good party, good friends, pretty chill. Some of my best New Year’s – it doesn’t make for great radio – but some of my best New Year’s have been just like actually hearing fireworks go off while I’m in bed, [laughs] and know I’m gonna wake up the next morning for the first day of the New Year feeling great, feeling recharged and I’m ready to go ad go into the New Year feeling good as opposed to going into it with a giant Jagerbomb hangover, which I’ve done many, many times. So, the goal this year is to go into it feeling pretty good and the kids help with that, because you really just don’t want to be hungover with children. It’s not a good feeling. You would probably admit to any crime to get them, just feel better, and get them leave you alone. So, [I’m] gonna try to hit New Year’s this year in stride.”

Audio / Eric Church has a couple of hangover cures for those times (especially on New Year’s Eve) when you might imbibe a little too much.

    Download

Eric Church (hangover cure) OC: …every time. :17
“The best hangover cure – I’ve got two. One is 5-hour Energy [bottles], because of all the B-vitamins that are in it. You can start pounding those, and it’s either gonna work, or it’s gonna keep you up and prolong your misery. But the other one I have is just take two Advil and a beer in the morning. Hair of the dog, man – that works every time.”

Audio / Jon Pardi reveals his go-to cure for hangovers.

    Download

Jon Pardi (hangover cure) OC: …deal with it. :20
“My hangover cure is Bloody Marys, but be careful – because once you have a couple, don’t go to beer, because if you go to beer, you’re gonna start drinking again and you’ll end up a morning drunk. OR if you want to go the non-alcoholic route, there’s nothing you can do for hangovers. [laughs] You just go deal with it.”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves, who rings in the New Year performing at the Grand Ole Opry, has her own hangover cure.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (hangover cure) OC: …water. Yup! :32
“Coconut water is a major help with hangovers and also, a lot of times we go and eat Vietnamese fuh. It’s a soup, and it’s got this awesome broth. You can get different things in it or whatever, but for some reason, it’s just like…it’s almost like a chicken noodle soup kind of an idea, you know, but it’s good. That’s good for hangovers too. That, sleep, Tylenol, coconut water and just water, in general. And when you’re drinking, have your alcohol, drink a little bit of water, drink some more alcohol, drink some water. Yup!”

Audio / Kacey Musgraves gives her favorite hangover cure, which is pretty simple.

    Download

Kacey Musgraves (favorite hangover cure) OC: …as bad. :11
Oh actually, though, my favorite hangover cure is right before you go to bed, no matter how trashed you are, literally just chug an entire glass of water, and then when you wake up, it’s not as bad.”

Audio / Kip Moore gives advice on how to avoid a hangover on New Year’s Eve.

    Download

Kip Moore (avoiding hangovers on NYE) OC: …yourself. :03
“Pace yourself on New Year’s – that’s the remedy. Pace yourself.”

Audio / Luke Bryan’s favorite New Year’s Eve has to be when he and his now wife Caroline reunited.

    Download

Luke Bryan (New Years-best) OC: …great night. :17
“My best New Year’s Eve is definitely when my wife and I started back dating. We started back dating right before Christmas, and we went on a trip down to Florida and met some friends. And her birthday is New Year’s Eve. We celebrated it that night. It was just a great night.”

In addition, Kacey is one of the featured performers during tonight’s CMA Country Christmas airing at 8pm ET on ABC.

Produced by Musgraves, Misa Arriaga and Kyle Ryan, A Very Kacey Christmas includes four festive original tracks, co-written by Musgraves, as well as covers of eight holiday favorites. The album has already received positive early reviews with The Wall Street Journal noting, “Ms. Musgraves’s album is a kooky mélange of Western swing, Hawaiian music and classic pop.” The Tennessean praises, “A Very Kacey Christmas is the most delightful holiday release of 2016” and longtime music critic Tom Erlewine adds, “the Kacey Musgraves record is the best of the batch: clever, stylish and fun.”

  • KACEY MUSGRAVES BRINGS HER CHRISTMAS SPIRIT TO THE CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS.

    CySEIWQWEAA3Ej5

Kacey Musgraves will perform on the CMA Country Christmas special airing Monday (November 28th), and she’s offering up her own version of “Mele Kalikimaka,” as well as her original “Christmas Makes Me Cry,” which she co-wrote with Shane MacAnally and Brandy Clark for her new holiday album, A Very Kacey Christmas.

Kacey says sometimes Christmas is melancholy, so she decided to write a sad Christmas song for her new holiday album. “I bawled when we wrote it and it was really, really hard for me to actually sing, you know, and I’m away from my family a lot, and you know Christmas is a time to reunite and see people that you haven’t seen all year long and you realize that there’s a lot of distance in the ins and outs of everyday you don’t see each other,” she says. “So, for me, tapping into the sad side of Christmas was also, it was actually weirdly, ironically fun.”

The CMA Country Christmas special airs Monday (November 28th) at 8pm ET on ABC.

Audio / Kacey Musgraves says sometimes Christmas is melancholy, and that’s why she wrote a sad Christmas song for her new holiday album.

Kacey Musgraves (Christmas Makes Me Cry) OC: …ironically fun. :48
“I wrote a really sad Christmas song for this album too, which was something I was really excited to do to kinda tap into that unspoken, sometimes just melancholy like heaviness that we kinda go through when we think about people that were here with us and maybe aren’t now, you know? We see our parents getting older and the passage of time and nostalgia is a very, it can be kind of a sad subject for me. So, this song called ‘Christmas Makes Me Cry,’ I bawled when we wrote it and it was really, really hard for me to actually sing, you know, and I’m away from my family a lot, and you know Christmas is a time to reunite and see people that you haven’t seen all year long and you realize that there’s a lot of distance in the ins and outs of everyday you don’t see each other. So, for me, tapping into the sad side of Christmas was also, it was actually weirdly, ironically fun.”
