  • SOME OF NASHVILLE’S BIGGEST STARS HELP RAISE MORE THAN FOUR MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE COUNTRY RISING BENEFIT.

Nashville’s biggest stars united Sunday night for COUNTRY RISING, raising more than four million dollars to support charitable initiatives for those affected by the September 2017 hurricanes as well as victims of the recent shooting in Las Vegas. From top to bottom, the production was as big as the talent that took the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, including host Bobby Bones and performers Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Sam Hunt, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Chris Stapleton, George Strait, Keith Urban and surprise guest Jon Pardi. Additionally, Garth Brooks sent in a special video from Spokane, WA where he donated proceeds from the night’s two shows.

Lady Antebellum opened the show with some of their biggest chart-toppers as well as an ode to Tom Petty as the trio covered “Learning To Fly,” followed by host Bobby Bones welcoming the crowd. “Our country has been hit hard by tragedy this year,” Bones said. “It’s affected our families. It’s affected our friends. It’s affected the Country music community, but even during those hard times what we always try to do is find the good and make the difference, and tonight we’re trying to make the difference.”

Sam Hunt performed a medley of his biggest hits, as well as a unifying chorus of “This Land Is Your Land.” Martina McBride belted out timely songs including “Love’s The Only House” while Keith Urban brought energy to the stage as he interacted with the crowd and performed his soulful “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” Dierks Bentley’s set included his powerful song “Riser,” which he dedicated to the first responders and the community for rallying together and rising up in the midst of tragedy, also surprising the crowd by bringing out special guest Jon Pardi who performed “Dirt On My Boots.”

Jason Aldean took the stage for a significant set, acknowledging the shooting in Vegas that personally affected him.

“It’s been a rough couple months for us up here, and it’s a lot of fun to get back out and play for the people who matter which is you guys,” said Aldean. “I love getting up every day and playing music, and I’ll be damned if anybody out there will ever stop me from doing that.”

Little Big Town performed some of their biggest hits including their smash “Better Man” while Chris Stapleton’s set included his poignant “Broken Halos,” as he announced that he and his wife Morgane are donating $250,000 to the cause.

Reba McEntire’s performance included her tenacious “Going Out Like That” while Garth Brooks sent a surprise special video performing “Callin’ Baton Rouge” from Spokane, WA, donating proceeds from the night’s shows.

George Strait closed out the evening with his beloved hits including “Amarillo By Morning.”

Fans across the country unable to attend the benefit can continue to give by texting ‘NASHVILLE’ to 41010, by donating at www.CountryRising.org or by purchasing merchandise HERE. All proceeds raised will go toward the Country Rising Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which was established to support charitable initiatives to help victims of the September 2017 hurricanes — Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. Additionally, the fund will also envelop victims of the recent shooting in Las Vegas. In the course of rebuilding lives disrupted by these devastating events, there are immediate needs and there also will be long-term needs.

COUNTRY RISING has also been supported by sponsors Citi, Texas Roadhouse, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, BMI, Budweiser, Frost, City National Bank, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store™, Sony Pictures Animation’s THE STAR, WME and Creative Artists Agency (CAA). • KEITH URBAN RECEIVES THE CHAMPION AWARD AT LAST NIGHT’S BMI AWARDS.

Keith Urban received the Champion Award at Tuesday night’s (November 7th) BMI Country Awards. Maren Morris and the Nashville School of the Arts Choir performed Keith’s first No. 1, “But for the Grace of God,” using guitars he had donated to the school.

Keith was honored by the performing rights organization for his assistance in helping the next generation of songwriters and musicians, as well as furthering music education.

He just released a new song, “Female,” to country radio. The tune was written by Nicolle Galyon, Ross Copperman and Shane McAnally.

  • CMA AWARDS 2017: Keith Urban

Keith Urban has the chance to take home several awards going into this year’s CMA Awards, including Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as Single and Music Video of the Year for “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” “Blue” is also nominated for Song of the Year, which would go to songwriters Clint Lagerberg, Hillary Lindsey and Steven Lee Olsen.

The first time he heard “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” Keith knew he wanted to record it. “I just know when I heard ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ for the first time, it just struck me as one of those rare songs that encompass so many things in it,” he says. “I couldn’t even label what it was, what style it was. It’s got a bit of soul, it’s got a bit of blues, it’s got a bit of country, it’s got just a big mix of all good things. Lyrically, it’s just an incredible song, incredible song. [It’s got] great melody, great lyric. I was so hopin’ I could do the song justice when we got in the studio.”

The video for “Blue Ain’t Your Color” was actually inspired by a performance he did with Carrie Underwood on American Idol.

“[The inspiration] really came from when I did American Idol with Carrie Underwood, and because it was the finale, I played in a suit, and this whole idea kind of started from the idea of playing in a suit. From there, obviously, the story of the song is pretty strong, and we started building the concept from there. But, the initial spark of inspiration was really about that.”

Keith is scheduled to perform during the 51st Annual CMA Awards, which will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday (November 8th) at 8pm ET on ABC.

Keith Urban (Blue Ain’t Your Color video) 2 OC: …idea from Carter. :29
“There was something that sort of Carter [Smith] suggested by having it be almost dreamlike. The girl walks into the bar, she’s just not in a good place in life, hits the jukebox, the song starts playing, suddenly we’re on stage, and she’s in the bar and she’s on her own. So, at the end of the video, you’ll see the camera pans around and then the band’s actually not there, and so you wonder was she just imagining the whole thing. It’s very cool. I really like that idea from Carter.”

Keith Urban (first CMA nomination) OC: …for a moment. :28
“I was so excited to be nominated for my first CMA, I went out and had Manuel make me a suit for the occasion, and it was just as well, because I ended up winning, which was just an indescribable feeling. When I heard my name called amongst all the nominees, it felt surreal, and then when they actually read my name out as the winner, it was literally like time just slowed down for a minute.”

  • KEITH URBAN’S CMA ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR AWARD IN 2005 WAS A HUGE HONOR.

Keith Urban picked up the CMA Entertainer of the Year Award in 2005, and it’s a moment he will cherish the rest of his life.

“What I remember about the Entertainer of the Year category in 2005 was that first feeling when people say it’s just an honor to be nominated, and I thought, ‘I know what that means! I know what that feels like,’ because for me it was a huge honor to be nominated so soon into my recording career,” says Keith. “To be in that category, it just felt unbelievably quick for me. And then when they read my name out as the winner, I think I actually said, ‘I thought I was just rounding out the category,’ because [laughs] I thought you’ve got to have four or five people in the category. I truly did not expect that to happen. It was just such a magical night.”

    Keith Urban

2017 has proven to be a successful year for Keith Urban and his album RIPCORD, which was released in 2016 and continued its incredible run this year. He has earned five nominations for the 2017 CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year, and was the most awarded artist at the 2017 CMT Music Awards with four wins. A groundbreaking album for Urban, RIPCORD marked the second time that one of his albums debuted simultaneously atop the all-genre charts in the United States, Canada and Australia. He is the only male country artist to achieve this mark. RIPCORD produced five No. 1 songs including “Wasted Time,” “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “The Fighter,” which is Urban’s 23rd No. 1 song and his seventh consecutive. It continued his streak as the artist with the most consecutive Top 10 songs on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart (38) — a streak that started in August, 2000. Following the breakthrough success of RIPCORD, which has continued worldwide, Urban took to the road for his “ripCORD WORLD TOUR 2016.”  The tour played more than 70 shows on four continents in front of more than 1 million people, further solidifying Urban’s already established reputation as one of the most electrifying and dynamic live performers. In 2001, the Country Music Association honored Urban with its Horizon Award. He was the first in history to go on to win the CMA’s Male Vocalist of the Year, a title he’s captured three times, and the coveted Entertainer of the Year. Since then, Urban’s career has seen a long list of groundbreaking firsts and accomplishments reserved for the music industry’s elite. The 2015 CMA Awards brought Urban his third win for Vocal Event of the Year (“Raise ‘Em Up” featuring Eric Church) that marked the first time in history that any artist has received the award in three consecutive years. Besides his four GRAMMY Awards, Urban has won 10 Country Music Association Awards, 11 Academy of Country Music Awards, a People’s Choice and an American Music Award.  He is a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Urban’s reputation as a premier songwriter, vocalist, musician and virtuoso guitarist has afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with the likes of The Rolling Stones, John Mayer, Steven Tyler, Miranda Lambert, John Mellencamp, Alicia Keys, Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift, Vince Gill and Eric Church. Urban has long supported numerous charities. His “All For The Hall” benefit concerts for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum© have raised more than $3.4 million.  He is the first Ambassador of the CMA Foundation, is an advisory board member at the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and is a longtime supporter of The Mr. Holland’s Opus Fund and The GRAMMY Foundation.
