Kip Moore’s latest single, “I’m to Blame,” is setting the tone for his forthcoming album, due out later this year. Kip co-wrote the gritty tune with Westin Davis and Justin Weaver, and he says it is the product of his growth as a writer and an artist.

“I just think it sets the tone for not afraid to go to different places as an artist, as a writer,” says Kip. “A lot of times when things are successful, people want you to stay in one spot. They’re used to you doing one kind of thing. ‘You’ve got to keep doing this thing over and over.’ It’s like, ‘Nah.’ You grow as a person; you grow as an artist. That was what kind of sparked the whole idea was my growth as a writer and as an artist.”

Kip joins Dierks Bentley on the Sounds of Summer Tour, which kicks off June 5th in Raleigh, North Carolina. The trek will also feature Canaan Smith and Maddie & Tae.

Eric Church, Alan Jackson, Kip Moore, Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum are a few of the latest performers announced for the 3^rd Annual ACM Party for a Cause Festival, taking place in Arlington, Texas April 17th and 18th. Kip Moore has just released his new single, “I’m to Blame,” which he wrote with Justin Weaver and Westin Davis. With the new song, he’s owning who he is and he’s not apologizing for it.

“Today in such a politically correct society, we really wanted to write a song about not apologizing about who we are and not scared to speak our mind kind of people, and we wanted to write a song around that whole kind of thing,” says Kip. “And that’s what it is – it’s a very aggressive, intense, no apologies kind of song about the kind of person you are, and it’s not about being rude. You’re owning who you are as an individual, and that’s what the song is.”

The Georgia native is on the road now, but will also hit the stage on Dierks Bentley’s Sounds of Summer Tour.

If you happen to pull up beside Dierks Bentley driving his beloved Big White truck, you may want to plug your nose! It may just smell like a barnyard animal, and Kip Moore would be to “Blame.” You see, Kip plotted and conspired and retaliated against Dierks for making him participate – along with Sounds of Summer tourmates Canaan Smith and Maddie & Tae — in his annual Polar Plunge when they jumped into Nashville’s freezing cold Percy Priest Lake earlier in January.

While Kip was on the road in Montana on his own headlining tour, he had his team fill Dierks’ truck with packing foam peanuts, wrap it in plastic wrap and cover with graffiti and putting a live goat in the bed of the truck, which was filled with hay while the “Say You Do” singer was at a writing appointment.

“We were thinking about some cool things we could do around the new song, and since Dierks enjoyed watching us jump in the freezing cold lake so much, he immediately came to mind as my first target,” Kip tells Rolling Stone Country.  “The tour hasn’t even started yet, so it could be a long summer but seeing that goat in the back of Big White was worth it.”

Dierks vows that the first month of the tour, which kicks off June 5^th in Raleigh, North Carolina, will be pretty rough for Kip, even threatening his favorite surf board.

Kip Moore enjoys watching pro football games. With the loss Denver Broncos – and Peyton Manning – suffered at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts in last weekend’s playoffs, Kip’s attention is diverted to just one player – the Seattle Seahawks’ controversial running back Marshawn Lynch (#24).

“I’m a huge fan of Marshawn Lynch. I know that he gets so much flak for how he’s so bad with the media, but there’s no one in the NFL that plays harder than Marshawn Lynch. I respect watching that so, so much,” says Kip. “I have a feeling that Marshawn Lynch might run his way to another Super Bowl.”

As we all know, music makes an impact on folks, a lot bigger impact than the artists who create them even realize. When Kip Moore was headlining his CMT Up in Smoke Tour, he was approached by a fan, telling the singer-songwriter his music helped him during a very dark and turbulent time.

“I had a Marine come up to me after one of the shows and tell me my Up All Night record actually was the only thing that gave him peace as he was camped out in some really rough place where they’d been under fire for a while, and he had his headphones in at this little place they were hiding out, and that record was what gave him peace,” says Kip. “It’s a wild thing to know that my thoughts and pen to paper and those dark places that I wrote those songs – not knowing if anyone was going to hear them – can have that kind of impact on somebody’s life.”

Kip’s new single, “I’m to Blame,” is being shipped to radio on Monday (official ADD date is February 2nd).
