• MICKEY GUYTON GIVES FOLKS A LITTLE PIECE OF “HEAVEN” WITH HER LATEST SINGLE.

Mickey Guyton releases her brand new EP, Bridges, on Friday. The collection features “Black Like Me,” “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” and her new single “Heaven Down Here,” written by Mickey along with Gordie Sampson, Josh Kear and Hillary Lindsey. The song, which is a plea to God to help our current world, was written after Mickey witnessed the recent protests outside her door.

“’Heaven Down Here’ is another just really important song for me. I wrote it in my apartment during quarantine after watching all of the protests outside of my door,” says Mickey. “And it’s just been a beautiful response. People feel seen. People feel like they’re heard in these moments. It’s so hard right now. People can’t afford to buy food. People can’t afford to pay their rent. People miss people, and this song kind of really speaks to all of that.”

Mickey is set to perform “What Are You Gonna Tell Her” on next week’s ACM Awards.

  • MICKEY GUYTON WILL RELEASE EP BRIDGES SEPTEMBER 11th.

As announced today via The Associated Press, Capitol Nashville’s Mickey Guyton will release a new EP Bridges on September 11. The songs featured on Bridges were co-written by Mickey over the last two years and include the critically acclaimed, previously released tracks “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?,” “Black Like Me” and current single “Heaven Down Here.”  The Texas native who NPR calls “a poised and galvanizing country-pop conscience” continues to speak her truth on Bridges which features co-writers including Karen Kosowski, Hillary Lindsey, Jesse Frasure, Nathan Chapman and Victoria Banks.

“Two years ago, this project didn’t feel like it was even a possibility,” shares Guyton. “This EP proves that in your darkest moments, you can have your biggest breakthroughs.  I think back to all of the obstacles in my life and career, including writing and recording most of this EP in quarantine during a time of social unrest, and how it has all led to the birth of this beautiful project. I hope these songs provide others with the same happiness and strength they have provided me in these uncertain times.”

Mickey was recently featured by outlets including Pollstar, NPR, Rolling Stone and the Los Angeles Times. Her powerful songs including the autobiographical “Black Like Me,” and honest “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” continue to receive acclaim from critics and fans. Originally from Arlington, Texas, Mickey has made a name for herself as a powerhouse vocalist and impressive songwriter. NPR notes, “she’s emerging as a poised and galvanizing country-pop conscience, at once consummate pro, steadfast optimist and truth-teller…a stirring, sumptuous singer” while Billboard calls Mickey, “one of the most promising new voices in country in recent years.” In 2015, she released her self-titled EP featuring her debut single “Better Than You Left Me” and the following year she was nominated for her first ACM Award for New Female Vocalist. Last year, Mickey returned to the ACM Awards stage to perform “I’m Standing With You” from the BREAKTHROUGH movie soundtrack alongside Chrissy Metz, Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina and Maddie & Tae. • MICKEY GUYTON MAKES A HEARTFELT PLEA WITH NEW SONG “HEAVEN DOWN HERE.”

Capitol Nashville’s Mickey Guyton released a new track today titled “Heaven Down Here,” listen HERE. Written by Mickey along with Gordie Sampson, Josh Kear and Hillary Lindsey, “Heaven Down Here” is a plea to God to help our current world.  NPR praises Mickey as “…a poised and galvanizing country-pop conscience, at once consummate pro, steadfast optimist and truth-teller,” which “Heaven Down Here” continues to support alongside her other recent releases – “Black Like Me” and “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?”

“Sitting at home and watching the world burn down around me during this pandemic led me to write ‘Heaven Down Here’”, explains Guyton. “It is a song asking God to spare a little love for this world in need. This song came from the very depths of my heart and has given me a renewed sense of self.  It has real raw emotion and was written with a therapeutic intent of healing my heart.  I hope that everyone can hear that intent and receive the same healing.”

In recent weeks, the Texas native was featured on the cover of Pollstar (read HERE) and chatted with CBS This Morning’s (watch HERE) Gayle King and Anthony Mason about the reaction to her powerful autobiographical song “Black Like Me,” which continues to receive acclaim from critics and fans. Written at a cross-genre writing camp in 2019, “Black Like Me” is one of NPR’s 25 Favorite Songs of 2020.  The song is a gut-punch that “nudges America’s conscience with personal truth and gospel fervor” according to HITS.

Mickey’s focus has been on her songwriting through which she has found her voice and continues to speak her truth. This year she also released the honest and unapologetic “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?”, which NPR calls “a cry of the heart by a remarkable singer and writer who deserves to be a full-on superstar.”

Mickey is currently working on an EP to be released this Fall.

Mickey Guyton (writing Heaven Down Here) OC: …put into it. :40
“I wrote ‘Heaven Down Here’ after I saw the horrific video of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery and hearing about the death of Breonna Taylor. It completely wrecked me, and I was also feeling the effects of tis pandemic and it just seemed that the world was burning down around me. ‘Heaven Down Here’ came from those raw emotions, and I wrote it through a zoom session with Hillary Lindsey, Gordie Sampson and Josh Kerr. We were all pretty emotional from everything going on in our country and in the world, and we wrote from those emotions. And I hope you guys can feel the love that we put into it.”

  • MICKEY GUYTON RELEASES HONEST, UNAPOLOGETIC SONG “WHAT ARE YOU GONNA TELL HER?”

Mickey Guyton released her honest and unapologetic new song “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” on Friday (March 6th).  The thought-provoking song asks the simple question, “what are you gonna tell her/when she figures out/that all this time you built her up just so the world could let her down.”

Written by Guyton, Karen Kosowski, Victoria Banks and Emma-Lee, “What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” was hailed as the “No. 1 song of Country Radio Seminar” by Variety. Guyton wrote the song three weeks prior to the UMG Nashville Ryman Auditorium show where she performed the song for the first time and received the only spontaneous standing ovation of the event.  Mickey’s performance can be viewed here.

“As an artist, I’m so grateful for music,” explains Guyton. “It allows me to convey important messages that are dear to me. I know this song will touch people because it is so truthful.”

“What Are You Gonna Tell Her?” will be included in Guyton’s upcoming album to be released this summer. Last year Mickey’s poignant and uplifting song which she co-wrote with Karen Kosowski and Victoria Banks was featured in the BREAKTHROUGH movie and soundtrack.  At the 2019 ACM Awards Mickey joined Chrissy Metz, Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina and Maddie & Tae for a performance of “I’m Standing With You” also from the BREAKTHROUGH movie soundtrack.  Mickey has been featured on CBS This Morning, ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today Show.  She has also been spotlighted in PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly, NPR, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Rolling Stone & Billboard.
