  • SAM HUNT RELEASES HIS NEW SINGLE, ‘BODY LIKE A BACK ROAD.’

Sam Hunt released his new single, “Body Like a Back Road,” on Wednesday (February 1st), which he co-wrote with his producer Zach Crowell, as well as frequent collaborators, Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally. The song goes for adds at country radio on Monday (February 6th).

“It’s a light-hearted song that was a lot of fun to write,” says Sam. “I’ve been writing a lot of songs over the past, I guess year-and-a-half, trying to conceptualize a new record and it started taking a heavy direction, and I sat down at one point and I was like okay, ‘I’m gonna lighten this up a little bit. This needs a light flare.’”

This is the second piece of music the Georgia native has put out, essentially since his 2014 album, Montevallo. He gave fans a surprise song, the autobiographical “Drinkin’ Too Much,” on New Year’s Eve.

You can catch him performing “Body Like a Back Road,” as well as many of his hits, when he returns to the road with his 15 in a 30 Tour June 1st in Cleveland, Ohio. He’s taking Maren Morris, Chris Janson and Ryan Follese along for the ride.

On Thursday (February 2nd), Sam will take a break from writing and recording the follow-up to Montevallo, when he performs at Club Nomadic, a traveling nightclub, in Houston prior to Super Bowl 51 (the Big Game).

  • SAM HUNT HAS LEARNED TO PUT A LITTLE BALANCE IN HIS LIFE.

Sam Hunt has been working hard on his next album, the follow-up to his multi-platinum Montevallo, but he’s also been taking a little time for himself to visit family, taking actual vacations (just recently in Israel) and hanging out with some of his buddies. Last year, he decided to pare down his touring a little bit to get a little balance in his life.

“It’s nice to have a little more balance in my life now,” said Sam. “You know, I’ve blocked a lot more time this [last] year to be around the house and to create opportunities to go back home and see my folks if I want to one week or take a little getaway vacation one week.”

One of the things he recently posted on Instagram was a throwback video with his two younger brothers Van and Ben, as well as a recent photo with his two brothers. Check out the video below.

You know, I’ve blocked a lot more time this year to be around the house and to create opportunities to go back home and see my folks if I want to one week or take a little getaway vacation one week. Those opportunities are there, but I have, for the most part, filled up most of that time with being in the studio and writing. So, I’m working as hard, but I’m just working on different things now. I shouldn’t call it work, because touring is a whole lotta fun, and writing songs, I would do that if I wasn’t making any money doing it. So, it’s something I really enjoy, but it is nice to have time…have a choice in the situation about what I’m going to do with it. So, it’s been nice, and I’ve gotten to see my folks and hang with my buddies and catch up with people I didn’t get to see as much last year.”

  • CHRISTMAS 2016: Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt hit the ground running before his Montevallo album was released in 2014, so the holidays have been about the only downtown he’s enjoyed. He says over the years, the holidays have really become a time to enjoy family even more.

We get together with my Dad’s side of the family, and then for dinner, we get together with my Mom’s side and exchange gifts,” says Sam. “Of course, myself and my brothers are well-past Santa Claus age, but Santa Claus still comes [laughs] at our house when we wake up in the morning, so that’s cool. But it’s turned into more of a, and I really appreciate the time with my family, it turns into more of a social thing now and less about the gifts and the food and all that sorta stuff.”

One of his favorite gifts as a child was a horse he received one Christmas. “I remember being really excited when, I got into riding horses, and one Christmas I got a Mustang that I named Comanche – a horse – and that was a really exciting time. I rode all the time after that. Before, I had some friends, a babysitter whose kids had horses, so I’d be able to ride occasionally, but now I was able to ride whenever I wanted to.”

Sam teamed up with Musicians On Call to help deliver the healing power of music by designing an “ugly” Christmas sweater for charity. You can help support Musicians On Call today by purchasing Sam Hunt’s limited edition holiday sweater! Every purchase of this limited edition sweater will support Musicians On Call’s mission to bring live music to the bedsides of children, adult and Veteran patients in healthcare facilities across the country.

Sam Hunt (Christmas) OC: … sorta stuff. :53
“It’s kind of a Thanksgiving re-do with gifts. It’s the same process. We eat a lot of, some of the same foods, not the dressing or maybe the cranberry sauce, and all of the other Thanksgiving things aren’t there, but still I think we have lots of turkey and a lot of other fixin’s for Christmas. I think the dessert table is a lot bigger on Christmas. We get together in the same fashion for lunch. We get together with my Dad’s side of the family, and then for dinner, we get together with my Mom’s side and exchange gifts. Of course, myself and my brothers are well-past Santa Claus age, but Santa Claus still comes [laughs] at our house when we wake up in the morning, so that’s cool. But it’s turned into more of a, and I really appreciate the time with my family, it turns into more of a social thing now and less about the gifts and the food and all that sorta stuff.”

Sam Hunt (Christmas gift) OC: …most exciting. :51
“I remember being really excited when, I got into riding horses, and one Christmas I got a Mustang that I named Comanche – a horse – and that was a really exciting time. I rode all the time after that. Before, I had some friends, a babysitter whose kids had horses, so I’d be able to ride occasionally, but now I was able to ride whenever I wanted to. I remember one year, it probably started from the horse-riding thing, but I got into wanting to be a bullrider. I was still pretty young – 8, 9, 10 years old – so one Christmas, we got a little steer calf. It had a little rope, and I’d try to ride a calf, you know? He sort of grew up with us and grew into a bull and ended up getting after my grandmother one afternoon. We had to get rid of him. He was just playing, but she wasn’t really the playful type, yeah. Those are probably the two most exciting.”
