• MOTHER’S DAY AUDIO: AJ, Darius, Dierks, Church, Paslay, Jon, Keith, Lady A, LBT, Shania and more!

Some of your favorite country stars will be celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday (May 10th). Check out Mother’s Day memories and moments from our artists, including Alan Jackson, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Eric Paslay, Jon Pardi, Keith Urban, Lady A, Little Big Town and Shania Twain, among many others.

Audio / Alan Jackson’s wife Denise wrote a book, It’s All About Him: Finding The Love Of My Life, that chronicled the couple’s relationship and marriage. It was a huge success, debuting at number-one on The New York Times Best-Sellers List when it was released several years ago. Alan believes her accomplishment set a really good example for their three daughters, showing that a mom can do things outside of the household, too.

AJ (Mday) OC: …to see that. :30
“I think it’s been great for them to see her do something out there that’s, again, not typical for a parent at all. But she’s a great role model for them anyway and always has been, whether she did anything professionally or not. I could see it in their eyes, you know, that they were surprised — very surprised, and also, I could see them with interest looking at her thinking it was special for her to do that. So, I think it was a very good thing for the kids to see that.”

Audio / Darius Rucker talks about not disappointing his beloved mother, who passed away a few years ago.

    Download

Darius Rucker (Mother’s Day) OC: …killed me. :17

“I think that’s the main reason I am how I am…an innate fear of disappointing my mom.  My mom’s not even alive, and I have a fear of her looking down from heaven and going, ‘Man I’m just disappointed in my son.’ She could have said anything in the world to me, but if she would have said, ‘Son, you just disappointed me,’ That would have killed me. It would have killed me.”

Audio / Darius Rucker says the best thing he can give his wife on Mother’s Day is his time…and to take the kids off her hands for a little while.

    Download

Darius Rucker (wife on Mother’s Day) OC: …try to do. :20

“I think the best Mother’s Day gift my wife would say I’ve given her is to let her not have to deal with her kids. [laughs] But, I’m not really a good gift-giver. I’m not gonna lie. And my wife and I have a deal that if you want it, just get it, so when it’s time to buy gifts, it’s hard to do. But, I think my time is the best thing I can give to my family, because I’m on the road so much. So, that’s what I try to do.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley talks about Mother’s Day in regards to his wife, Cassidy.

    Download

    Dierks (Mother’s Day) OC: …something great. :23
“When it’s your actual mom, you know, there’s some slack there, but when with your wife – any touring husband, anyone who tours who has kids and a wife back home, it’s tough man. It’s a lot of work. So, I definitely need to step up to think of something great to do this Sunday, for sure. But nothing yet. As usual, I’ll probably get something last minute and hopefully, it’ll be great, though. She deserves something great.”

Audio / Eric Church says he’s learned quite a bit from his mom.

    Download

    Eric Church (Mother’s Day) OC: …as a man. :57
“My mom, even though my dad won’t like this, my mom is by far the toughest person that I’ve met. She’s tough. One of those people that’s been through a lot in her life, adversity wise and never complains, always really resilient with anything that’s happened to her. And it’s just that attitude, the positive attitude, regardless of what has happened that I think is the one thing that I got from her. With career, she’s always been a person that’s been really positive through times that I couldn’t find a positive streak, [laughs] and she was always really positive, and very much believes in tough it out, keep working hard, and that’s her motto with stuff like that. I’ve always been impressed with that stuff. Then musically, she’s where I get my talent from, musically. She sings great, always has, her mom sang great. I owe my musical chops to her. And she still sings some. So, career-wise, I owe her everything. And just in life-wise she’s given me a lot of the qualities that it has taken for me to get me where I am. Not only as a musician, but as a man.”

Audio / Eric Paslay talks about his mother, Donna.

    Download

Eric Paslay (Mother’s Day) OC: …it’s good. :21
“I wanna thank my mom for giving me faith, laughter and pride in the family I came from. She’d be the fun Mom, just goofing off in the sprinklers outside or we’d go out and play in the rain and all that stuff growing up. She’s always good to be around; always happy, and it’s good.”

Audio / Jon Pardi says his mother, Shelly, is an angel.

    Download

Jon Pardi (Mother’s Day 2015) OC: …worrying about me. :29
“My mom’s always been there for me. First of all, she’s a great mom. She’s an angel. She takes care of people that aren’t even in the family. She’s always been like that, and she’s a great mother. She’s always proud, and she’s always there supporting and being a great mom. She’s just a good human being. There’s not one mean bone in her body. And she cries about every time I talk to her. She always worries about me. I have to tell her, ‘Stop worrying about me.’”

Audio / Keith Urban explains why his wife Nicole Kidman is an extraordinary mother to their two children, Sunday and Faith.

    Download

Keith Urban (Nicole is extraordinary mother) OC: …to see. :45
“She’s an extraordinary mum, she really, really is. Those girls are very, very lucky, and I feel very lucky that the children I should have in this world happen to be with Nic. I don’t know anything about raising kids and Nic does, and that comes in extremely, um, it’s really made for an experience I wouldn’t have had without that. Her patience, her recognizing them as people and not just little kids is really extraordinary. Her attention to honoring their feelings and listening to them right from day one – really being attentive to that is not how I was raised at all, so it’s really beautiful to see.”

Audio / With Mother’s Day on Sunday, Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley explains he and his brothers – Josh and John -- owe their mother a lot for all of their childhood antics.

    Download

Lady Antebellum (Charles Kelley-Mother) OC: …playing music. :23
“We were honestly, at times, pretty hard to handle, both of us. We used to play our music loud up above on the second floor [of the house], bang on the drums and the guitar. And my mom’s just one of those people, she’ll do anything for her family and she sacrificed a lot for us boys. Anytime we needed something, she made it happen. And so, we owe her a lot. She’s definitely the reason we’re playing music.”

Audio / Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman says she always dreamed of being a mother…and her dream came true nearly eight years ago when she gave birth to daughter, Daisy (July 27, 2007).

    Download

LBT (Mother’s Day) OC: …for my mother. :34
“Being a mother is a life-long dream for me. When I was a kid, that’s what I wanted to be is a mama. It took a long time. I wasn’t ever sure that I would be, but I am now, and it’s the greatest gift of my life. And as I’m a mother now, I see what my mother gave up and her sacrifices and her love and how she made us the most important thing in her life, and that’s what I strive to do for my little girl. It’s the most important job I have, and it’s the most responsibility that I have, and I try to live up to a great example that I had for my mother.”

Audio / Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild says being a mother to Elijah Dylan Westbrook is the best feeling in the world.

    Download

    LBT (Mother’s Day-Karen) OC: …every day. :23
“There isn’t anything that means more to me than sitting on the bench and eating a grilled cheese sandwich with this little guy who calls me Mama. There isn’t anything better than that. He’s just a little miracle. I went from dreaming about him to eating grilled cheese sandwiches and ketchup with him, and I could never have dreamed this up – how good it could be, and it just gets better every day.”

Audio / Shania Twain says it’s such a joy to be a parent.

    Download

Shania Twain (joy to be a parent) OC: …means everything. :14
“It’s such a joy to be a parent. So, I relate to all the mums out there who are getting all their love and appreciation from their kids, and I hope, when you’re a kid, a child of somebody, show your mum you love her, because it means everything.”

  • SHANIA TWAIN FREEZES TIME WITH HER LIVE FROM VEGAS RELEASE.

Shania Twain’s new Still the One: Live From Vegas collection features a CD of the songs she performed during her residency at Caesar’s Palace, but it also includes a DVD of the show, plus some behind-the-scenes footage of her preparing for her show. She says it givens you the whole picture, even if you saw it in person.

“It’s very important to capture this type of thing on film because even when you go in person you’re never going to see everything,” says Shania. “It’s an exceptionally large stage, and you can’t take the whole show in all in one night. There’s too many things going on. It’s very multidimensional and hard to focus on everything all at one time.”

That’s not the only reason – she also wanted to have it for herself. “I wanted my Kodak moment to last forever, and I wanted to be able to look back at it because I guess when you climb a mountain, when you get to the top, if you don’t take a picture, you’ve missed it,” she says. “You’ve missed it and you live it and it’s wonderful to live it, and of course, I lived it every night, the show. But I wanted to be able to look back at it in years from now and remember, not just remember how it was at the time, but look back in 20 years from now, 10 years from now, even 5 years from now and have a different perspective and a fresh eye.”

In addition to releasing her CD and DVD package, Shania also announced that she will head back out on tour…for the last time. Tickets for her Rock This Country go on sale Friday (March 13th), but pre-sales begin on Tuesday.

Audio / Shania Twain says the DVD part of her new collection, Still the One Live From Vegas, gives fans the whole picture of her Las Vegas show, even if they have seen it in person.

Shania Twain (DVD) 1 OC: …for me. :34
“It’s very important to capture this type of thing on film because even when you go in person you’re never going to – you’re never going to see everything. It’s too – you’re looking – it’s too big of a stage. It’s an exceptionally large stage and you can’t take the whole show in all in one night. There’s too many things going on. It’s very multidimensional and hard to focus on everything all at one time. So yeah, it’s kind of luxury having it on DVD and being able to really see it from that perspective, the whole picture all at one time. So, that’s kind of a special part of it for me.”

Audio / Shania Twain explains why she wanted to film her Las Vegas show and offer it to fans on DVD.

    Shania Twain (DVD) 2 OC: …it, I guess. :42
“I wanted the memory. It’s just about capturing the memory. I wanted my Kodak moment to last forever and I wanted – I wanted to be able to look back at it because I guess when you climb a mountain, when you get to the top if you don’t take a picture you’ve missed it. You’ve missed it and you live it and it’s wonderful to live it and of course I lived it every night, the show. But I wanted to be able to look back at it in years from now and remember, not just remember how it was at the time but look back in 20 years from now, 10 years from now, even 5 years from now and have a different perspective and a fresh eye. So I just wanted to freeze frame it, I guess.”

  • SHANIA TWAIN IS GOING TO ‘ROCK THIS COUNTRY’ WITH A NEW TOUR.

Shania Twain is launching her first tour in 11 years, she announced on ABC’s Good Morning America, and she says it’ll be her last one. Shania spent the past couple years in residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas (her run ended in December), and she’s ready to hit the road! The Rock This Country Tour – which she has deemed a “celebration tour,” will kick off June 5th in Seattle, followed by a string of homecoming dates in her native Canada. Then, she’ll head back across the border with stops in New York City, Boston, Miami, Washington, D.C, Philadelphia, Nashville and many other major cities, before wrapping up in Fresno, California, just a few days before Shania’s 50th birthday in August.

“I look forward to having even more flexibility and more spontaneity in the show.  And the production will be entirely different than what we did in Vegas because now we have more options being in a different type of space that we can explore and play around with.  So I’m going to have fun with that,” says Shania. “And also  reconnecting with a bigger audience and the vibe of that is a bit more of a party atmosphere I guess.  It’s like a party every night.”

The opening acts on Shania’s tour will be Canadian actor-singer Wes Mack from June 5th – June 28th; and Gavin DeGraw from June 30th – August 23rd.

Audio / Shania Twain explains how her Rock This Country Tour will be entirely different from her show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.

Shania Twain (tour) 1 OC: …every night. [laughs] :46
“There are more variables when you are on tour with the show so every night is more different.  There’s nothing static about it. There’s always going to be variables that are going to happen.  There are more things that are unexpected.  It will be more spontaneous, for sure, and that’s exhilarating.  So I look forward to that.  I look forward to having even more flexibility and more spontaneity in the show.  And the production will be entirely different than what we did in Vegas because now we have more options being in a different type of space that we can explore and play around with.  So I’m going to have fun with that.  And also just, again, reconnecting with a bigger audience and the vibe of that is a bit more of a party atmosphere I guess.  It’s like a party every night.” [laughs]

  • SHANIA TWAIN IS ‘GONNA GETCHA GOOD!’

Shania Twain released her Still the One Live From Las Vegas collection, which it includes a DVD of the show, behind-the-scenes highlights and CD. She opens the show with her 2002 hit, “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” The reason why she kicked off her Vegas show with it is pretty clear.

“‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good!’ was just a very empowering way to start the show and say I’m in control and this feels really good and I’m at the top of my game here, and I’m ready to kick off this night,” says Shania. “The vocal in the beginning is quite sultry and I wanted to – I didn’t want to come out kicking and screaming. I wanted to come out with a quieter strength with my voice.”

On Wednesday (March 4th), Shania will talk about her new CD and DVD collection on ABC’s Good Morning America, where she will make a big announcement. She’s also set to appear on The Chew on Wednesday, and on What What Happens Live! March 11th.

TIDBIT: The Jonas Brothers covered “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” for the soundtrack for their film, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.

Shania Twain (Gonna Getcha Good) OC: …start the show. :42
“I wanted it to have that sort of rock edge pump to it right at the top of the show and I wanted to be able to tell a story with a song list. So ‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good!’ was just a very empowering way to start the show and say I’m in control and this feels really good and I’m at the top of my game here and I’m ready to kick off this night.  So it was a very soothing song in that regard and it’s also quite sultry. The vocal in the beginning is quite sultry and I wanted to – I didn’t want to come out kicking and screaming. I wanted to come out with a quieter strength with my voice. So it was just the perfect song. ‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good!’ was the way to start the show.”

  • SHANIA TWAIN WANTED TO HAVE A GOOD TIME WITH HER LAS VEGAS SHOW.

Shania Twain will release her Still the One Live From Las Vegas collection this week, and it includes a DVD of the show itself, plus some behind-the-scenes highlights, in addition to the CD. She says she can’t pick out just one particular favorite moment from the show, but instead, her favorite moment is the entire thing.

“The whole show is my favorite thing as a performer because I…I wrote all of those favorite moments in the show for exactly that reason. I just wanted to have a really wonderful time,” says Shania. “I wanted to surround myself with all the things that I love, the people that I love, a room that I loved. I loved the room. It was gorgeous. All of the songs I loved in the show. I was very careful about picking the song list. I was careful about the order of the song list and how it was going to feel mood wise and how it was all going to roll out. It was very custom made for me, this show, and to make sure that I was going to enjoy myself every night after that.

Shania’s Still the One Live From Las Vegas CD & DVD collection arrives in stores on Tuesday, March 3rd.

Audio / Shania Twain says she doesn’t have one particular moment that was her favorite during her Las Vegas show…instead, it’s the whole show that’s her favorite moment.

I love enjoying being fit and energetic. And so I chose clothes that were sexy and fun and that I enjoyed getting into every night. I never got into my clothes and thought ‘Oh I just can’t do this another night.’ But I loved it. I always felt – I always felt revived getting into my costumes every night.”

  • SHANIA TWAIN HAD FAMILIAL SUPPORT IN VEGAS.

When Shania Twain agreed to do her residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, she had to know she’d have some special support on stage. Her sister Carrie Ann had to agree to be one of her backup singers.

“The idea of going back on the stage again scared me at the beginning. It was intimidating, and I had to build up a lot of courage to take the plunge, because I knew that once I made the commitment, there was no turning back,” said Shania. “So, right at that moment, I realized that to take the plunge I needed to know that I was going to have some support there. And so my sister Carrie, being a beautiful singer herself and we’re very close…I said to her I’ll do this because she was encouraging me. ‘Oh yeah, come on. You can do it. You can do it.’ And so I said ‘Well, listen, how about if you do it, I’ll do it? We’ll do it together.’ And that was just really a turning point for me knowing that she was into the idea of participating and not just being there behind the scenes, but taking that plunge as well. And I felt like I was sharing some of that weight, and really [it] just helps like logically.”

You can see Carrie Ann when Shania’s Still the One Live From Las Vegas CD & DVD collection arrives in stores on Tuesday, March 3rd.

“The idea of going back on the stage again scared me at the beginning. It was intimidating, and I had to build up a lot of courage to take the plunge because I knew that once I made the commitment there was no turning back. So, that was a big moment. So, right at that moment, I realized that to take the plunge I needed to know that I was going to have some support there. And so my sister Carrie, being a beautiful singer herself and we’re very close, she said well – well actually I said to her I’ll do this because she was encouraging me. And I felt like I was sharing some of that weight, and really [it] just helps like logically. Even though I’m still up there – I mean, I know in my mind, of course, I’m still out there up front by myself in my own moments and all eyes are on me, but the people that share the stage with you really do make a big difference in your just moral support in general.”

  • SHANIA TWAIN PREPARES FOR LIVE FROM VEGAS CD + DVD RELEASE.

Shania Twain is set to release her live CD and DVD next month. Shania: Still the One Live From Vegas will include a deluxe edition 18-track CD and DVD and is set for release March 3rd.

Shania held a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for two years that ended this past December. After going through some difficult times and having a few voice issues a few years ago, she pushed her fears aside and booked her Vegas gig, giving herself a deadline to put it all together.

“I guess I was just ready to be reinvigorated and to test myself, test my limits, take myself out of my comfort zone,” Shania explains. “I was feeling a little bit insecure just before I jumped into the Vegas situation, and I thought, ‘Well, maybe I need to just jar myself a little bit and take something really new and exciting on, and take the chance that maybe I’ll have a really great time and learn some new things about myself and put my voice to the test, as well.’”

“It gave me a goal, and I thought if I put myself under pressure and gave myself a timeline, something as demanding as a Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace (laughs), maybe that will really force me into dealing with my voice problems,” she says. “So, I put that pressure on myself, took on the show, and it really worked. I guess it was sort of personal and professional therapy really.”

“First of all, it makes you feel alive to take on challenges, and I guess I was just ready to be reinvigorated and to test myself, test my limits, take myself out of my comfort zone. I was feeling a little bit insecure just before I jumped into the Vegas situation, and I thought, ‘Well, maybe I need to just jar myself a little bit and take something really new and exciting on, and take the chance that maybe I’ll have a really great time and learn some new things about myself and put my voice to the test, as well.’”

Shania Twain (Vegas deadline) 2 OC: … therapy, really. :42
“It gave me a goal, and I thought if I put myself under pressure and gave myself a timeline, something as demanding as a Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace (laughs), maybe that will really force me into dealing with my voice problems. It’s sort of like getting a personal trainer. You’ve got someone there, or a goal, someone there reminding you all of the time. so the deadline and everything like that and having the team involved, really put me on the spot and I was up for putting myself on the spot. So, I put that pressure on myself, took on the show, and it really worked. I guess it was sort of personal and professional therapy really.”
