  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD’S “MY SAVIOR: LIVE FROM THE RYMAN” RAISES OVER $112,000 FOR SAVE THE CHILDREN FROM VIRTUAL LIVE CONCERT STREAMED ON EASTER SUNDAY.

This past weekend, on Easter Sunday, Carrie Underwood brought her new album, My Savior, to life with “My Savior: Live From The Ryman,” a virtual live concert performance from the iconic, Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, also known as the “Mother Church of Country Music.”  Underwood performed the gospel hymns she grew up singing for this special global concert event, which livestreamed exclusively on her official Facebook page on Sunday, April 4th, raising over $112,000 for Save the Children worldwide.

Nearly 2.5 million fans from the United States, Canada, UK, Australia, Brazil, Ghana, Norway, Germany, South Africa, Mexico, Sweden and beyond, viewed the full show and millions more viewed exclusive performance clips during the 48-hour window for the free event which featured special appearances by gospel superstar CeCe Winans, who performed “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” with Underwood and singer/songwriter Bear Rinehart, frontman of the rock band, NEEDTOBREATHE, who joined Underwood on “Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus.”  Southern gospel and harmonica legend Buddy Greene and 10-time CMA Musician of the Year Mac McAnally, both of whom played on the My Savior album, also appeared with Underwood. Select performance videos from the event can be viewed on Carrie’s My Savior playlist here.

“On a day normally reserved for church congregations and family, Facebook brought Carrie Underwood and her My Savior album directly into people’s homes worldwide in real time to celebrate Easter in an unprecedented way, allowing for both celebration and a direct giving campaign to benefit children in need all over the world,” said Cindy Mabe, UMG Nashville President. “The results were humbling and powerful and speak to Carrie’s one of a kind ability to connect, shine and uplift audiences around the world.”

My Savior debuted #1 on the Billboard Country and Christian Charts, as well as #4 on the Billboard 200 chart this week with 72,644 SPS units.  Additionally, the album is #1 on Billboard’s Top Albums, Top Country Albums, Top Christian Albums and is the #1 Current Digital Album.  My Savior is Underwood’s ninth consecutive album to debut at #1 on the Billboard Country Chart – extending her record as the only Country artist to achieve that feat with all nine of her studio album releases from the beginning of her career.

Donations were accepted throughout the streaming event and for 48 hours after, to benefit Save the Children, which works in over 100 countries to ensure that children grow up healthy, educated and safe.  In the U.S., Save the Children reaches children through early education, literacy and child hunger programs, helps prepare children for emergencies and responds when disaster strikes.  To date, Save the Children has supported 30 million people affected by coronavirus around the world, including nearly 12 million children, making sure they have enough to eat, can access healthcare, can continue their education and are protected from violence.  Before COVID-19, 1 in 7 children in the U.S. faced food insecurity, which has now increased to 1 in 4.  Since March 2020, Save the Children has delivered nearly 21 million meals to kids in need across the U.S.  For more information, visit www.savethechildren.org.

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD’S MY SAVIOR DEBUTS #1 ACROSS BILLBOARD’S COUNTRY & CHRISTIAN CHARTS.

Seven-time GRAMMY® Award winner and three-time ACM Entertainer of the Year Carrie Underwood’s new album, My Savior, debuts #1 on the Billboard Country and Christian Charts, as well as #4 on the Billboard 200 chart this week with 72,644 SPS units.

My Savior is also the #1 Country Album and #1 Christian album in Canada.  The album was #1 on the iTunes Album Sales Chart in the U.S. for all genres throughout the week of release and is currently #1.  It was also the #1 Country Album on iTunes in Canada and Australia.

Seven songs from My Savior debuted on the Country Songs Track chart:  “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” “Just As I Am,” “Because He Lives,” “Victory In Jesus,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Blessed Assurance.”

The success of My Savior comes on the heels of Underwood’s first-ever Christmas album, My Gift, which debuted #1 across multiple global charts, including Billboard Country, Christian and Holiday charts.  The album remained at #1 on the Christian chart 11 weeks after it was released and debuted #1 on the UK country chart (her fifth #1 on the chart) and #1 on the Canadian country chart.  It went on to reclaim the #1 spot on the Billboard Country chart in the U.S. for a third non-consecutive week, and consistently remained in the Top 5 on the Billboard Holiday Album Chart throughout the holidays, hitting #5 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200.

Critics have praised Underwood and My Savior:

Carrie Underwood’s First Gospel Album is Straightforward and Stunning…

The bulk of My Savior‘s tracks were written in the 1800s…but nothing about Underwood’s

approach feels boring, stale, or preachy. Though many of these hymns have long since entered the public

domain, becoming standards and sacred classics for millions of Christians, Underwood

manages to offer a fresh interpretation – no small feat.  The world may know Underwood as a

chart-topping force to be reckoned with, but My Savior is stunning and simple – and

one of her most intimate projects yet.  Rating: A”  ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“Just as she did on her recent Christmas album My Gift, the country star uses her spectacular voice

on My Savior to reinvigorate age-old classics and push her aesthetic forward…

The songs may be traditional, but Underwood adds country, folk and bluegrass elements,

such as her bluegrass-tinged ‘Nothing But the Blood of Jesus’ or the acoustic ‘Blessed Assurance.’

Framing her beautiful voice with simple arrangements and instrumentation serves the song

and the singer well. A moving testament to her faith.”  BILLBOARD

Yesterday, Carrie was featured on CBS Sunday Morning, watch here,  where she discussed the impact of her faith and the process of making My Savior. Her virtual concert event, “My Savior: Live From The Ryman,” (key art here) streamed live globally on Facebook on Easter Sunday (April 4) from the iconic, Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, also known around the world as the “Mother Church of Country Music.” Fans can watch the performance, which benefitted Save the Children, here as it will remain exclusively on Facebook for a limited time.

My Savior consists of covers of some of Underwood’s favorite traditional gospel hymns in a unique pastiche of musical styles from classic country to folk, bluegrass, and gospel.  The album will be available on vinyl April 30.  My Savior is co-produced and arranged by Underwood and GRAMMY® Award winner David Garcia, with whom she co-produced her critically acclaimed 2018 album Cry Pretty, her seventh album to be certified Platinum or Multi-Platinum by the RIAA. Garcia is a multi-platinum selling, four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning record producer and songwriter.

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD APPEARED ON CBS SUNDAY MORNING ON EASTER.

Carrie Underwood spoke with CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Michelle Miller about performing at the Ryman Auditorium (“Mother Church of Country Music”) for her virtual show on Easter, about recording her first gospel album, My Savior, life with her husband Mike Fisher during a global pandemic and so much more.

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD’S MY SAVIOR DEBUTS AT NO. 1.

Carrie Underwood’s My Savior debuts at the top of the Billboard Country Album chart, as well as the Billboard Christian Album chart. In addition, My Savior is named No. 1 Billboard Top Album, as well as Billboard Top Country Album and Billboard Top Christian Album (all pure album sales), not to mention No 1 Current Digital Albums. The collection enters the overall Billboard 200 at No. 4.

Carrie says she grew up singing these hymns in church and says revisiting them for her new album, My Savior, felt like home.

“These particular songs for My Savior, you know, I grew up singing these in church and my church that we go to right now they play a lot of very contemporary Christian songs, praise and worship songs, and it’s great. But every once in a while, they’ll kind of throw in like a chorus or something of some hymn that I grew up with and there’s an immediate sense of home when I hear that. And that’s kind of where I was at when we were recording this,” says Carrie. “It should be like a warm hug, and I feel like there’s so many people that are like me that kind of long for that. You think back to that sense of home and your church that you grew up in with the pews. I mean it’s just one of those things that it just feels like home. And after a year like last year, I feel like people are definitely searching. A lot of people were thrown out of their daily routines and trying to figure life out and be more introspective or kind of slow down. We were all forced to slow down.”

Carrie streamed a live Easter performance of My Savior from Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, featuring special guests NEEDTOBREATHE’s Bear Rinehart, CeCe Winans, Mac McAnally and Buddy Greene, on Facebook on Sunday. The show is still available for a limited time, and you’re also able to continue to donate to Save the Children.

  • CARRIE UNDERWOOD’S NEW ALBUM, MY SAVIOR, IS AVAILABLE NOW.

Seven-time GRAMMY® Award winner and three-time ACM Entertainer of the Year Carrie Underwood releases her new album, My Savior, worldwide on Friday (March 26th). In celebration, Carrie will appear on NBC’s TODAY during the 8am hour, including a performance of “Just As I Am,” followed by the 10am hour with a performance of “Victory In Jesus” today (Friday, March 26).  Carrie will be seen on Australia’s #1 National Breakfast Variety and Light Entertainment Program, Sunrise, and will be featured on CBS Sunday Morning, scheduled to air on Sunday, April 4 (Easter Sunday).

My Savior consists of covers of some of Underwood’s favorite traditional gospel hymns in a unique pastiche of musical styles from classic country to folk, bluegrass, and gospel.  The album is available digitally and on CD today and will be available on vinyl April 30th.

“This is an album I have always wanted to record and I’m thrilled to be able to bring these uplifting, inspirational songs to life in this special way,” says Carrie.  “It means so much to be able to bring this event to people in their homes on a day that holds so much meaning for us spiritually and to be able to raise much needed funds and awareness for the incredible work of Save the Children as we celebrate the importance of family.”

“When I set out to choose these songs, I wanted to include the beautiful, familiar hymns I grew up singing in church,” says Underwood.  “There are several songs I have performed in the past, like ‘Softly And Tenderly,’ ‘How Great Thou Art’ and ‘Amazing Grace’ that mean so much to me and I knew immediately we needed to record for the album.  This music shaped who I am as a person and is the foundation of my career as a recording artist.  I feel so blessed to get to share these songs with generations of people who love them as I do, as well as others who might be experiencing them for the first time.”

“I feel like people my age and older really did grow up singing hymns. We go to church now, and everything is very praise and worship, which is wonderful, but I feel like there are a lot of people who have not experienced a lot of these hymns or they’re not a part of their weekly life, you know. So, I do hope people – I hope people that are like me that grew up with them can listen to them and feel the heart behind them. We wanted to make them sound fresh, but we didn’t want to change anything too much. So, I hope the traditionalists will enjoy it but I also hope that people who haven’t experienced these songs as much can listen and feel, get that sense of home but enjoy what they’re listening to as well.”

“‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness’ is just absolutely beautiful. When we were talking about adding it to this album, My Savior, I could hear a voice like CeCe Winans on it, and one of my favorite memories will always be A, just watching her work and what a true legend and professional she is; but when she came in, she was like, ‘I love this song so much because He is faithful.’ And I will just never forget her looking me in the eye and just telling me that He is faithful. I knew it already, but the fact that I believe that and she believes that and we sing on this song together, it was just such a wonderful experience.”
