Billy Currington and his “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To” co-writers, Cary Barlowe and Shy Carter, celebrated the No. 1 success of their song at a party in Nashville Tuesday night (December 6th). The trio just happened to write a song when Billy stopped by to hang out with his buddies. Billy forgot about the song until his manager brought it to his attention and the Georgia native said it changed his current album.
“When we wrote the song, at that point in my life I was writing a lot and getting so many songs pitched my way, I kinda already had all the songs I wanted for the record,” said Billy. “Then this demo that I guess it was Jesse [Frasure] kind of threw some grooves on there and mixed it up and sent it to my manager John Dennis and he sent it to me and said, ‘Man, have you hea”rd the song you wrote that day?’ And I was like, ‘Naw. It’s been a while, but let me hear it.’ Then he sent it my way and it kind of changed my album a little bit, just that one slot.”
Billy just released his new single, “Do I Make You Wanna,” which is the fourth single from his Summer Forever album.
