CANAAN SMITH WRITES ON HIS OWN TIME. (AUDIO)

Canaan Smith is on the country charts with his single, “Love You Like That,” but he’s also had other songs on the charts, including “Runaway” for Love & Theft. He co-wrote his current single with Brett and Jim Beavers, but he was probably at home in Nashville when he did, since he doesn’t particularly like writing on the road for himself.

“It’s a tiring enough thing [to perform on the road], and it’s so much about the music and performing that I like to kind of just, when I have my downtime, I like to get on a bike and ride around the city or something like that – just get out and breathe some fresh air,” says Canaan. “Every now and then, I’ll pick up a guitar, but most of the time, I’ll get on somebody else’s bus and help them write a song.”

He just released the video for “Love You Like That,” which features his new bride, Christy.
