On November 17th, fans of Carrie Underwood will get what they’ve been asking for, to experience her highly successful Storyteller Tour – Stories in the Round again, with the digital release of the live concert filmed at her sold-out Madison Square Garden show. 2016’s top touring country female of the year took her critically-acclaimed world tour across nine countries, playing more than 100 shows for over one million fans. Carrie Underwood: The Storyteller Tour – Stories In The Round, Live from Madison Square Garden will be available digitally on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Qello.

The tour travelled over 50,000 miles among 18 trucks and 8 buses across North America. Each show consisted of 112 automation cues controlling all elements of the 150 foot-long in-the-round stage including 7 stage elevators, 3 rings of video screen, a revolving central stage, and mirror ball, through 56 axes of motion. The tour used over 51,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, and dropped over 400 pounds of Mylar. Carrie’s wardrobe, created by Emmy-winning costume designer Marina Toybina, consisted of 32 custom made costumes and 214 pieces of jewelry, allowing for different outfit combinations across the show’s 5 Acts in each city. The tour’s Creative Director was Barry Lather (Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Usher, Michael Jackson) and Butch Allen (Metallica, The Eagles, Eric Church, No Doubt) was the Production & Lighting Designer.

“I wanted to release the Storyteller Tour to the world, because I’m so proud of it. We just had such a blast being out for so long and being able to interact with the fans. It was just such a fun show for us on stage, and the crowd sure looked like they were having fun. So, we always film every show just kinda to have for our archives, and after the tour was long gone, I kept getting tweets and social media and Facebook posts and things like that saying how much the fans missed it, so we had to [laughs] basically. The fans willed it to happen. It’s been so much fun reliving the show, and I just hope everybody that came, or even that didn’t get to come, can check it out and just kind of relive some amazing moments.”

“Madison Square Garden, it’s such a dream to be able to play there anyway, just from the prestige and historical value of it, you know? You just played MSG – it’s like, ‘Wow! I’ve made it!’ To have that show be sold-out was just absolutely incredible. Go big or go home, right? [laughs] Playing Madison Square Garden, it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun if there were only just a couple of people in the audience, but no, we had a sold-out crowd, and it was such an amazing energy from that room and from that crowd. You always kind of wonder when you go to areas of the country that might not have really grown up listening to country music like I did being from Oklahoma, it just kind of reminds you that country music really is universal and it’s relatable. No matter where you are from or how you grew up, people just want to come and hear great music and see a great show, and that’s what we wanted to deliver. To record, to film that night in particular, it was just so special, and I was so glad that we got to do that for our own sakes, but also now to be able to give that to the fans. Hopefully all of that energy and that amazing-ness at MSG translates. I think it did, but hopefully the people can just watch it and be like, ‘Wow! What an amazing show and what a great crowd.’”

“It was amazing being in the round and having our 360-degree stage because it allowed me to see everybody and everything. Just having all of the energy from the crowd hitting us from every angle, seeing faces. We didn’t just see four or five rows in front of us and kinda hear the people that were in the back. It was like everybody had a great seat, everybody we could get to, we could sing to and play to. So, it was just a really amazing experience for us being on stage every night in the middle of all that energy, and we’d be able to give it right back to the audience. So, it just kind of took it to a whole other level having that stage in the round and just being able to see faces and hear voices from everywhere just singing along.”
