“We started this event with a simple goal in mind and that was to raise money for St. Jude. I had visited their campus in Memphis and was so blown away at the facility, staff, and service that I made a pledge to contribute annually. It’s a bonus that I have had such amazing friends join us in the effort,” adds Rucker.
Since its inception, “Darius and Friends” has grown include a charity auction and a celebrity golf tournament and has raised more than $125,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Rucker has high hopes of topping past year’s totals to further benefit the pediatric treatment and research facility.
Darius will get a little warm-up this Saturday by hosting the ACM Lifting Lives Celebrity Golf Classic on Saturday, April 6th at TPC Las Vegas. Money raised from the event benefits the ACM Lifting Lives Diane Holcomb Emergency Relief Fund, which provides immediate relief to those in need in the music industry.
Rucker recently announced his True Believers Tour commencing May 9th in Estero, Fla. with dates running through the summer. The tour comes in support of Rucker’s upcoming May 21 album release True Believers. The highly anticipated third country album includes his current hit single, “Wagon Wheel,” and features collaborations with Sheryl Crow, Mallary Hope and Lady Antebellum.

“I love helping people. It’s so easy to do. Like, I got my ACM’s, my golf tournament coming up on Saturday for the ACMs for St. Jude’s. It’s awesome that I can help people and hang out with my buddies and hit a little white ball. You know, ’cause that’s the only time I can hit something white as hard as I can and not go to jail. So it’s like. (Laughs) It’s really awesome that we can raise money like that for people that need it. And I get to have a good day hanging out with my friends and playing golf.”
