While Dierks Bentley performed on the Today Show this week, he found himself the proud owner of a new puppy. The father of three children and two furbabies already, Dierks was part of a segment about shelter dogs. After peering into the sweet brown eyes of the border collie mix named “Goose” and lovingly holding him and petting him, Dierks couldn’t resist and decided to adopt him.
“I’ve been texting back-and-forth with my wife and kids,” he said during a conversation with Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist, while the dog’s adoption paperwork was being taken care of. “They really want a third dog. My wife for her birthday said, ‘All I want is a third dog.'”
“I feel a connection,” he explained. “I feel it’s meant to be.”
The musician said that his three children were already “jumping up and down” with excitement, and so they have decided to fly to Jones Beach for Dierks’ next show to meet the new member of the Bentley family.

Well…. the last thing I was expecting to happen today. But feel like it was meant to be. Welcome to the family Goose/Garrett (there was some confusion on which of the brothers he was….). That’s a wrap on @todayshow. Thanks….I think?! Off to @petco and then meet up with #burningmantour
Goose seemed to pick up on the road life pretty quickly, even donning his outfit for Dierks’ ’90s cover band, Hot Country Knights.
Dierks is “Living” his best life.
