DIERKS BENTLEY CELEBRATES BEING ‘DRUNK ON A PLANE.’ (AUDIO)

Dierks Bentley celebrated the No. 1 success of “Drunk on a Plane” at the newly-reopened Sutler club in Nashville this week. Party favors for all of the guests included a pilot’s hat, aviator sunglasses and a stick-on mustache. The mass appeal of the song kind of took the star by surprise.

“This song has had a long road to get where it is as far as just writing it to it going on the record, second-guessing whether it should even be on the record, and then becoming a single and wondering whether it should be a single or not, and then obviously, once it became a single I was very happy that it was because it really took off,” says Dierks. “It’s been one of those songs that it reminds me a long of ‘What Was I Thinking,’ because of the impact it’s had on the fans and the way they come dressed up to our shows wearing the hats and the Aviators and the mustache.”

“It’s been such a fun year; this song obviously was a big part of that overall fun-ness,” he adds.

Dierks just released “Say You Do,” the follow-up to his two-week No. 1, “Drunk on a Plane.”
