ERIC CHURCH AND WIFE KATHERINE WELCOME NEW BABY BOY, BOONE McCOY CHURCH
Nashville, Tenn. (Thursday, October 6, 2011) – One of country music’s most dynamic entertainers is now working on pleasing an entirely new audience. Eric Church and wife Katherine are proud to welcome their first child — Boone McCoy Church.
Boone was born on Monday, October 3rd at Centennial Women’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee at 8:35a CT and weighed 7 lbs. and 11 oz.
“Everybody always tells you what an awesome and unique experience being a parent is. Words can never do the feeling justice. I am very thankful and blessed to have a healthy and happy baby boy and baby mama,” shares Eric.
Although Church has been touring extensively throughout 2011, he does have plans to reduce the number of his performances throughout the remainder of the year to enjoy time with his family. The last time Church took time away from the road was to write his chart-topping third studio album, CHIEF. However, Church does expect an entirely new set of inspirations to come from his time at home. “It will be interesting to see how this new chapter in our life manifests itself musically,” Eric adds. “I’ve always made music that was representative of real life. Life doesn’t get more real than having a newborn at home.”
The Church family will be releasing photos in the coming weeks of the latest addition to their family. Stay tuned to www.ericchurch.com for more details. (AUDIO BELOW)
AUDIO: Prior to the birth, Eric was a bit nervous about becoming a father, and the excited singer-songwriter felt comfortable he wouldn’t be 100% ready even when the big day arrived.
Eric Church (baby anxiety) OC: …and around. :18
“It’s just a unique experience, you know, and it’s something you’re never gonna be ready for, so you just do the best you can and kind of roll with it. That’s kind of become my motto. I’m just gonna let it happen and try to be around as much as I can. That’s my biggest anxiety doing what I do. We’re on a bus all the time and always traveling. I want to make sure I’m present and around.”
Eric Church (excited for baby) OC: …running around. :18
“I’m excited. I mean, I’m anxious. I’m nervous. I think I have most of the emotions that parents would have, new parents. And the best advice I’ve heard is, ‘You’re not gonna be, you’re not ready for it. Don’t even think you are. There’s no way to get ready. You just go with the flow.’ I’m excited and can’t wait, especially at Christmas time to have a little one running around.”
AUDIO: Prior to the birth of Boone McCoy, Eric Church talked about preparing his unborn child for life on the road.
Eric Church (baby stuff) OC: …in a few years. [laughs] :34
“I want to be the dad my dad was. I think I have a great father, and [he’s] always been supportive. We kind of joke with our lifestyle, you know what we do and touring 200 days a year. We’re not going to give him much leeway. We’re gonna strap him up, give him some headphones, and we’re going on the road. We’ve been trying to get him used to the bus, even though we haven’t had him yet. Katherine’s been riding the bus a lot and used to the shaking and the movements, so. It’s funny now – he’s a bit of a kicker and a puncher, and he’s fine if she’s moving. If she stops moving, he starts kicking and punching, which is ironic ‘cause I punch on stage. So, we’ll see what happens with that in a few years. [laughs]”
AUDIO: A couple of months ago, Eric Church said he and his wife Katherine had not fully decided on a name for their first child.
Eric Church (baby names) OC: …comes out. :13
“We’ve got a few names. I think you need to look at a boy before you name him, though. I think you need to step back and see which name they look like. So, we’re going to take a few names in to the hospital, and we’ll see which one comes out.”
