Eric Church has taken “Round Here Buzz” to the top of the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart. The song is from his album, Mr. Misunderstood, which he released as a surprise to his fans on the morning of the CMA Awards in 2015.
The North Carolina native co-wrote “Round Here Buzz” with Luke Dick and Jeff Hyde. He says the song contains a nostalgic, heartbreaking feel.
“I’ve done a few of these songs in my career; this nostalgic kind of song about the guy that kind of wishes things were different than they are,” says Eric. “I know a lot of people like that and like this from where I’m from. I’m from a small town, and I’ve just seen this. I think part of the reason, I feel like we’re pretty good at this kind of song, and I think part of it is because I’ve seen it, I’ve felt it. It’s a motive to me. So, I think with this song, there’s just something about it that’s always spoke to me.
You can catch Eric on this year’s GRAMMY Awards when he performs as part of a special tribute to honor the victims lost to gun violence and terrorism at various live music events last year, especially to those affected by the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. He will be joined by Brothers Osborne and Maren Morris.
The 60 annual GRAMMY Awards will air live from Madison Square Garden in New York City on Sunday (January 28th) beginning at 7:30p ET on CBS.

“‘Round Here Buzz,’ I mean, I’ve done a few of these songs in my career; this nostalgic kind of song about the guy that kind of wishes things were different than they are. I know a lot of people like that and like this from where I’m from. It was one I was a pretty big champion for on the album and one that I think will be a hit for us, and the right kind of hit, not just one that’s a hit. One that has emotive qualities.”
