GEORGE STRAIT CHOOSES HIS FAVORITES AND ADDS ANOTHER DATE TO HIS ‘COWBOY RIDES AWAY TOUR.’ (AUDIO)

George Strait’s final tour, The Cowboy Rides Away, is filled with hits. The Country Music Hall of Famer has had 60 number-one singles, and it’s just not feasible for him to do all of those, plus the ones that are fan favorites that may not have hit the top of the charts. He acknowledges that putting together his show’s set list is pretty tough, but he’s got a solution.

“I just do kind of my favorites,” he laughs. “This tour has, we’ve been able to have some great artists come out, and so if they want to do a song that I’m not doing, you know, with me, then we’ll do it. So, that’s how some of those songs came into the set list, not all of ‘em.”

Only a few dates remain on the final leg of recently crowned ACM Entertainer of the Year and reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, but Strait announced on Tuesday (April 22nd) the addition of a tour stop Thursday, June 5 at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. Tickets for the added show will go on sale to the public at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2nd.

His final show on June 7th will take place in Arlington, Texas, and will feature a ton of special guests, including Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack and Asleep at the Wheel.

George is currently headed up the country charts with his latest single, “I Got a Car.”

George Strait (deciding on favorites) OC: …that I’ve had. :37
“Well, it’s difficult. I just do kind of my favorites. [laughs] This tour has, we’ve been able to have some great artists come out, and so if they want to do a song that I’m not doing, you know, with me, then we’ll do it. So, that’s how some of those songs came into the set list, not all of ‘em. We’re doing a long, long show this year, longer than I’ve ever done, I think about two and a half hours, so I’m able to work in a lot of those. Not all of them have been hit records. Not all of them have even been radio singles, but they’re just favorite songs of mine off of the many years of records that I’ve had.”
