George Strait is mourning the loss of two of his longtime “music family members,” who he lost hours apart on Wednesday (March 21st). First, his manager of 45 years and friend for longer, Erv Woolsey, passed away from complications following surgery in Clearwater, Florida; then his Ace In The Hole fiddle player Gene Elder passed hours later.
George took to his socials to say, “Hard to believe we lost two of our music family members on the same day. Our Ace In the Hole treasured band member Gene Elders passed away yesterday afternoon shortly after we lost Erv. All of our prayers go out to both families. We loved him so much.”
