Jennifer Nettles is among the artists set to honor singer-songwriter Carole King as the 2014 MusicCares Person of the Year January 24th in L.A., one day prior to the Grammy Awards. Martina McBride, Dixie Chicks, Lady Gaga, Bette Middler, James Taylor and Steven Tyler will also perform at the event to benefit MusiCares, which provides support for people in the music industry in times of personal, financial and medical need.
Jennifer, who is gearing up to release her new album, That Girl, next month, has been influenced by the songs and music of Carole King. In fact, one of the songs on her new album, “This Song is For You,” which she co-wrote with Sara Bareilles, has a certain Carole King kind of vibe to it. “It feels definitely like a singer- songwriter type song,” says Jennifer. “Much of this album has a lot of a 70s radio on it, and who better to emulate or be inspired by than Carole King.”
That Girl, featuring the title track and current single, arrives in stores and at all online retailers January 14th.
