After winning the CMA Award for Song of the Year for “Buy Dirt” with his brother Jacob Davis and Matt and Josh Jenkins, Jordan Davis recalled a moment during a family Thanksgiving dinner when his mother worried about him and his brother Jacob Davis becoming songwriters.
“I honestly think back on a time when I overheard my mom at a family Thanksgiving thing, saying I can’t believe that I somehow let my boys move to Nashville and try to be songwriters,” says Jordan. “And I think of it now and how hard that was for her, to think we were gonna try to move and make a living as songwriters, but there’s no bigger award than we could’ve got that night. My mom doesn’t worry about her boys writing songs anymore, and I think for me that’s one of my most proud moments from accepting that award that night. Mom, we’re good now.”
Jordan just enjoyed two weeks at the top of the country charts with his most recent smash, “What My World Spins Around.” The song is included on his upcoming album, Bluebird Days, which will be released on February 17th.
