LADY ANTEBELLUM TAKES ANOTHER SHOT AT NO. 1 WITH BARTENDER. (AUDIO)

Lady Antebellum’s “Bartender” spends a second week at No. 1 on the Country Aircheck chart. This is the band’s ninth No. 1 single, and the first release from their forthcoming album, 747, which lands in stores and online September 30th.

Lady A’s Charles Kelley says he likes the difference between the song’s uptempo melody and its darker lyrics. “It’s always cool when you can capture kind of what feels like a fun track, but the lyrics are a little darker,” he says. “It’s definitely a head-bopper, and then you kinda listen, and you’re like, ‘Man, this girl’s talking about literally drinking the pain away.’”

The band, who was just nominated for CMA Vocal Group of the Year and Music Video of the Year for “Bartender,” is currently awaiting the birth of Dave Haywood’s first child.

Lady A (Bartender) 2 OC: …something different. :20
“It’s always cool when you can capture kind of what feels like a fun track, but the lyrics are a little darker. When you really listen to the lyrics…it’s definitely a head-bopper, and then you kinda listen, and you’re like, ‘Man, this girl’s talking about literally drinking the pain away.’ And so I think those songs are always kind of cool when you can have that juxtaposition between the feel of a track and the lyrics being something different.”
