Little Big Town’s Tornado debuts at the top of the Billboard Country Album chart! The band’s fifth studio release sold nearly 113-thousand copies to bow at No. 1 on the country charts and at No. 2 overall (right behind Dave Matthews Band’s Away From the World and ahead of Bob Dylan’s Tempest). “I hope it’s a record that stays in their collection for years to come,” says LBT’s Karen Fairchild. “That would be an amazing compliment to know that I was in someone’s playlist or go-to list of someone’s records that defined a summer time or a period in their life.”

The record’s first single, “Pontoon,” spent two weeks at the top of the country singles charts, and the band is beginning to hit the airwaves with the title track, “Tornado.”

Little Big Town is nominated for three CMA Awards, including Vocal Group and Single and Video of the Year (for “Pontoon”). The awards show will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena November 1st at 8pm ET on ABC.

JIMI: “I think they’re gonna have a good time with the record. Music is an escape, and I think that there’s those moments on the record that are that and a good time, but there’s some serious moments and moments that speak to life and the ups and downs of that, and what do we want them to have? [laughs]”

KAREN: “I hope it’s a record that stays in their collection for years to come. [PHILLIP: “Yeah.”] You know, like one of those timeless records? I can name records for me that when I go back and I think about moments in my life, it was like my theme song or my theme record. And I know ‘Pontoon’ has been that for a lot of people this summer, but I’m hoping this record can be that for people too.”
