LUKE BRYAN EARNS HEAVY METAL FOR ‘CRASH MY PARTY.’ (PRESS RELEASE AND AUDIO)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wednesday, June 11, 2014) – While celebrating four back-to-back No. 1 hits last week, Capitol’s Luke Bryan was surprised by UMG Nashville Chairman & CEO Mike Dungan with the news that his record-breaking album, Crash My Party is now RIAA-certified Double Platinum.

Crash My Party debuted Aug. 2013 at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart selling over 528,000 right out of the gate. The album contains the title track “Crash My Party,” a double platinum-selling, three-week No. 1; “That’s My Kind of Night,” a double platinum-selling, No. 1; “Drink A Beer,” a platinum-selling three-week No. 1; and “Play It Again,” a platinum-selling four-week No. 1.

With a fourth straight week atop Billboard’s Country Airplay tally with “Play It Again,” the Georgia native surpasses his previous best No. 1 run, set when “Crash My Party” held the top spot for three consecutive weeks in July of last year. No solo act had stayed on top for four weeks since Blake Shelton’s “Honey Bee” wrapped a four-week stand in August 2011.

In addition to the unprecedented four weeks at No. 1 on the country music radio airplay charts, current single “Play It Again” is the top song on the Slacker Top 40 – an all-genre chart pulled from total plays, shares and likes across all listeners on the digital streaming service, Slacker.com. Bryan is the first country artist ever to top the chart.

AUDIO: Luke Bryan isn’t really feeling any pressure to top his double-platinum album, tailgates and tanlines.

Luke Bryan (no pressure to top tailgates and tanlines) OC: …justifiably perfect. :37
“I don’t really feel any pressure to top tailgates and tanlines. I mean I didn’t feel any pressure to top I’ll Stay Me, Doin’ My Thing, tailgates and tanlines. I just don’t operate that way. I operate on my enjoyment of everything meter and my enjoyment of everything meter can’t even be registered by any type of scale. I enjoyed every song we cut on this album. Even on my prior albums, there are songs that after that album was done, I could have went like ‘Oh, I wish I wouldn’t have put that on there.  It just wasn’t my best moment.’ But with this album, I feel like everything is justifiably perfect.
