Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan is one week away from releasing his new album, Kill the Lights. The collection features his latest hit, “Kick the Dust Up,” which is poised to enter the top of the country charts.

The son of a peanut farmer, Luke says the song really defines who he is. “‘Kick the Dust Up’ is just a song that really defines who I am,” he says. “It talks about a farm in town. It talks about we don’t stand in those lines buying $10 drinks. Why do that when we can go buy a six pack and go out to a cornfield and kick some dust up? And that’s what I want my fans doing.”

Luke is set to perform a couple of tracks from the new album during ABC’s Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series on August 7th, the day his album is released. He’ll also take over New York City’s Irving Plaza for a record release party that evening.

Audio / Luke Bryan's "Kick the Dust Up" is based on how he grew up in Georgia.

“‘Kick the Dust Up’ is just a song that really defines who I am. It talks about a farm in town. It talks about we don’t stand in those lines buying $10 drinks Why do that when we can go buy a six pack and go out to a cornfield and kick some dust up. And that’s what I want my fans doing and when I think about just how tough ‘Kick the Dust Up’ is. I mean it’s a tough song in my opinion. And I’ll tell you what, in the way the instrumentation on it is something different, something that you may or may not have ever, something that I don’t think I’ve ever heard on country song or something on country radio. It’s almost got a Middle Eastern lick in there which is something that is pretty hooky. And ‘Kick The Dust Up’ is as much as it is a lyrical song about being in the country, it has a whole other side of these musical hooks that make it fun and make it drive and feels like big stadium, big anthemic country songs. It feels like just a big anthem to me, and we felt like it was the way to name the tour and we felt like it was the way to kick this album off.”
