Eric Church made a surprise appearance at Charlie Daniels’ 40th Anniversary Volunteer Jam last week in Nashville. “Charlie Daniels was a giant influence in my musical DNA,” Church said after the performance. “What he has done with the Volunteer Jam is honorable. What he has done in music is iconic. He is a gentleman and a patriot, and it was my honor to be in his presence.” The show, which also featured performances by Ted Nugent, Billy Ray Cyrus, Wynonna, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alabama and Tracy Lawrence, was a benefit for U.S. military and veterans through The Journey Home Project.
