• LUKE BRYAN HAS MEMORABLE NIGHT AT THE GRAND OLE OPRY- NAMED RECIPIENT FOR ACM ALBUM OF THE DECADE AWARD AND FLIPS OPRY BARN PINK.

Four-time Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan planned a special acoustic set for his appearances as part of the 11th annual Opry Goes Pink tonight at the Grand Ole Opry. Luke began each of the two sold-out shows “flipping the switch” on the signature barn turning it pink to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. During his first Opry show performance, Luke was surprised with a special presentation by the Academy of Country Music’s RAC Clark naming him the first-ever recipient of the ACM Album of the Decade Award for Crash My Party.

“‘Crash My Party’ was such a life changing album for us,” shared Luke from the stage of the Opry. “We didn’t know it at the time, we were just loving making music for you guys. It blew my mind the love and support we had from the fans. It’s so fun getting to do this. Thank you to my producer Jeff and my record label and management for sharing this experience with me tonight!”

The ACM Album of the Decade Award recognizes an album that has impacted country music over the decade. The factors to be considered are, but are not limited to the success at radio of singles released from album, album concept, commercial media, sales and streaming, artistic merit and ACM Award recognition.

Luke’s four-time Platinum selling album Crash My Party, produced by Jeff Stevens, was released in 2013 and firmly planted his career as a superstar entertainer. Crash My Party was the largest sales debut for a country male artist since 2004, selling nearly 530,000 albums its first week and debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 and the Country sales chart. The album went on to sell over four million copies and contains six consecutive #1 singles, “Crash My Party,” “That’s My Kind of Night,” Drink A Beer,” “Play It Again,” “Roller Coaster,” and “I See You.”

Audio / In 2013, Luke Bryan talks about what would make his album Crash My Party a success.

    Download

Luke Bryan (what would make CMP a success) OC: …widely accepted. :58
“In my opinion what would define the success of this album is obviously to…gosh, I don’t know, to sell three or four million albums certainly. But my main thing is to continue to move the needle on the fans knowing that I’m upping my game constantly and coming with better songs and singing better than ever and fueling the live show in whatever is going to, the ability to grow into bigger and bigger and bigger venues constantly for as many years as I can.  And making sure this album continues that upper climb of upward movement to being an even more elite entertainer on a global scale to where my music is me, to where I didn’t change my music to make it global.  I make kind of a more of an audience come to what I’m saying and selling.  And if I can do that on this album it’s a success. So just telling my story and making my story that which is something that is widely accepted.”

He said, “So I made a song with one of the most talented artists in music @juliamichaels and it comes out tomorrow…Pumped for you guys to hear this.” #coolanymore

At the No. 1 party for “Coming Home” with Keith Urban, Julia skillfully sidestepped a question about another country collaboration.

Jordan is making his way up the country charts with his latest smash, “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot,” the follow-up to two No. 1 songs — “Singles You Up” and “Take It From Me.”

“For me, I think just kinda spending so much time out doing shows, and I know for me sometimes I feel like I have to be cool or I have to (JULIA: “Or put it on sometimes.”) And this is that kind of song just being like hey, leave work at work and every time I sing this, I kinda think about that, like don’t take this too seriously. This is a job, enjoy it. It’s kinda cool to kind of come home and not have to be that. For me, my wife is somebody that helps me kinda, I don’t want to say come down to earth, but I’m gonna say come down to earth. It’s just a song about being yourself, and I don’t know, not taking this world too seriously.”

Audio / Julia Michaels talks about the song "Cool Anymore," which is a perfect collaboration between her and Jordan Davis.

“This song resonates to me more so from a relationship standpoint. Whereas we’re like, you’re right, sometimes we do have to put IT on even when we don’t feel like it, and sometimes we’re tired and we just want to go home and be with the person we love, and we’re lucky to have that — to be able to go home and just let loose with the person you love and make stupid jokes with and eat a lot of food with (JORDAN: “Yeah.”) and just be yourself with.” JORDAN: “Yeah.”

  • LUKE BRYAN FLIPS THE SWITCH AS THE GRAND OLE OPRY GOES PINK!

Luke Bryan flipped the switch to turn the Grand Ole Opry’s signature barn backdrop pink in honor of the Opry’s 11th annual Opry Goes Pink show in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. He also performed during the show.

While Luke hasn’t had anyone in his immediate family with breast cancer, he does have several friends and extended family go through this terrible disease. “Thankfully, no one in my close proximity of my family has had breast cancer, but we’ve had friends down in Georgia and obviously in Nashville, since I’ve been here, that have dealt with it,” says Luke. “But, you know, the big thing that I always notice is the fans at my concerts that have the signs up, you know, they have a pink sign, ‘LAST CHEMO TREATMENT TODAY.  BEATING CANCER,’ and that always is something that, that visual is always something that I leave the show with.”

The show also featured performances by Sara Evans, Craig Morgan, Travis Tritt, Anita Cochran, Joe Diffie and the Oak Ridge Boys.

“When we got the opportunity to partner up with Opry goes Pink, and the Opry obviously doing breast cancer awareness, I was like, ‘Heck yeah!  Let’s do it!’  And my first Opry show, Vince Gill stopped by unannounced and he just walked out and brought a guitar.  And I’ve wanted to do that for years.  I’ve just wanted to not have my band, just have guitar or piano, and so I’m just gonna go play guitar and piano tonight, no band, and it just felt like a fun night to do that kind of show for me, and then obviously, partner up with Opry Goes Pink.”

    About Hootie & the Blowfish
With the rich, bluesy vocals of Darius Rucker and gleeful harmonies of guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber and drummer Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, Hootie & the Blowfish have sold over 25 million records worldwide to date after their infectious melodies hit the airwaves in 1994 with hits such as “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry” and “Only Wanna Be With You.”

The quartet met at the University of South Carolina where endless gigs at frat houses and local bars built a major local buzz. Their blend of pop, folk, blues, soul and rock made them hard to pigeonhole, but easily accessible to anyone who loved good music.

Atlantic Records, impressed by their regional draw, signed them and released Cracked Rear View in 1994. The album had been out for six months before the band played on the Late Show with David Letterman which sent sales skyrocketing, eventually landing at No. 1 on the Billboard chart the following spring. Cracked Rear View and the band went on to win two GRAMMY Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, a Billboard Music Award, and multiple People’s Choice Awards. Cracked Rear View went on to earn the band Billboard‘s Band of the Year Award in 1996 and the RIAA’s Diamond Award for sales in excess of 10 million units. Cracked Rear View remains the 5th most certified studio album in music business history.

The band remained a top draw nationwide and released five more albums for Atlantic: Fairweather JohnsonMusical ChairsScattered, Smothered & CoveredHootie & The Blowfish and The Best of Hootie & The Blowfish, as well as Looking For Lucky on their own Sneaky Long Records and LIVE in Charleston, The Homegrown Concert Event DVD and CD. The band took a break from full-time touring in 2007, reuniting annually for a variety of philanthropic events while also pursuing solo projects. 2019 marked the band’s first full-time touring year in over a decade as they embarked on the sold-out Group Therapy Tour ahead of Imperfect Circle, their first album in nearly 15 years due out November 1 under a new record deal with Universal Music Group Nashville. The album’s lead single, “Hold On,” earned most-added distinction at Country radio upon its release and is currently climbing the charts.

  • LAUREN ALAINA PERFORMS A TOUCHING TRIBUTE AND DEBUTS NEW SONG “THE OTHER SIDE” ON DANCING WITH THE STARS.

Last night while competing on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, Lauren Alaina and her dance partner, Gleb Savchenko, delivered a stunning cotemporary performance to “The Other Side,” a beautiful new song and reflection of faith composed by the young star while coping with the loss of her stepfather, Sam Ramker. Lauren danced to the deeply personal song in remembrance of Sam on the one-year anniversary of his passing.

“He was always my champion. He was always my number one fan,” acknowledges Lauren in a social post earlier in the day. “Now he’s my guardian angel.” Lauren, who wrote the song with Jon Nite and Zach Kale, says, “I wrote ‘The Other Side’ in Sam’s memory. I wanted to create a song that did him justice.” She continues, “He couldn’t hear me sing without crying because he was so proud of me… I wrote this song so that he can live on, and never be forgotten.”

Encouraged by Savchenko to dance as though she was speaking to her stepdad, Lauren and her partner gave a moving performance drawing 26 out of 30 points, the couple’s highest score thus far in the competition. View the emotional performance HERE. Fans can also listen to “The Other Side” HERE.

“The Other Side” follows Lauren’s recently released single, “Getting Good,” playing on country radio now.

In addition to new music, Lauren kicks off the new year headlining the That Girl Was Me Tour before rejoining her 2019 tourmates as a very special guest on Blake Shelton’s 2020 Friends & Heroes Tour with Trace Adkins, John Anderson and The Bellamy Brothers.

  • HALLOWEEN 2019: Adam, AJ, Billy, Brandon, Brothers O, Clare, Dierks, Eric, Langston, Pardi, Jordan, Josh, Luke, Maddie & Tae, Travis and more!

Halloween is Thursday, October 31st, and the holiday has some of your favorite country stars getting into costumes, while others are recalling memories of Halloweens past.

Audio / Adam Hambrick talks about one of his favorite Halloween costumes as a kid.

    Download

Adam Hambrick (Halloween) OC: …five-years-old. :10
“My grandmother made me a Ghostbusters jumpsuit, and I had the proton backpack and I went as Peter Venkman, the Ghostbuster, when I was five-years-old.”

Audio / Alan Jackson used to take his now grown daughters trick-or-treating when they were young children, but he recalls one costume that he hated. It was an infant costume that made one of the girls look like a little peapod.

    Download

    AJ (Halloween) OC: …cute, but…[laughs] :17
“Aww, I remember some, when they were infants, they had like these little, they looked like a little pea pod, you know, or something. It’s like a little green pea or something. And I thought man, that’s awful. But Denise liked it, and I guess it was cute, but…(laughs).”

Audio / Billy Currington reminisces about his childhood Halloween memories.

    Download

Billy Currington (Halloween) OC: …Halloween. :17
“You know, when I was a kid, I loved the trick and the treat. I loved dressing up. I was always wanting to be Dracula. That was my favorite guy. But, of course, who doesn’t love going door-to-door and getting these buckets of candy? [laughs] So, love, love Halloween.”

Audio / Brandon Lay says since his father was a preacher, their Halloween activities were church-related.

    Download

Brandon Lay (Halloween) OC: …let Ryder do. :26
“You know, my dad was a preacher, so Halloween for me (ha) was a little different than most kids. We always had something going on at church, so I think I was usually a character from the Bible and walk around the gym and just try to get as much candy as I can. It sounds a little weird, but I kinda was robbed of the trick-or-treating experience – thanks a lot Mom and Dad – but I’m not bitter about it or anything. We’ll see what we let Ryder do.”

Audio / Brothers Osborne’s TJ and John Osborne talk about dressing up like zombies for Halloween.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (zombie costume) OC: (John) …was so fun! :29
TJ: “Literally, you can dress up like a zombie and drag your foot behind you all day and make weird noises, and everyone finds that completely acceptable.” [laughs] JOHN: “One year I dressed up as a ‘90s  redneck zombie with a mullet wig and an Alan Jackson denim coat. I never once broke character. That’s part of the thing — you can actually not break character and get away with it. And everywhere I went, even when I ordered a drink, I ordered it like a zombie that was falling apart. [laughs] It was so fun!”

Audio / Brothers Osborne’s John Osborne talks about carving pumpkins with their dad when they were growing up.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (carving pumpkins) OC: …or something. :25
“With our dad every year, we would go looking for pumpkins, and we would all get our own pumpkin to carve, and he would buy the biggest pumpkin that they had. It was huge. I mean, it was way too big for any one person, but he would love carving. He’s kind of an artsy guy. He was a great drawer and stuff, and he would carve the most terrifying, vicious looking, scary pumpkin you’d ever seen in your life, and it would be massive. It would be like on a 50-pound pumpkin or something.”

Audio / Brothers Osborne talk about their favorite Halloween candy.

    Download

Brothers Osborne (Halloween candy) OC: (John) …go stale. [laughs] :34
TJ: “I would say, Snickers, Baby Ruth, Kit Kat and Reese’s too.” JOHN: “I always hated those houses that would give you bad candy, though. You’re like, ‘C’mon. Step it up.’ Spend the extra dollar on a bag, you know?” TJ: “A house when we were growing up used to give out whole candy bars. It was the best. You were like, ‘That house – that’s the honey hole of candy.’” JOHN: “I love it, and I love like at the end, like three or four days after Halloween you would see what candy was left, and it was always like those crappy cheap candies, and they would just go stale.” [laughs]

Audio / Clare Dunn talks about Halloween when she was a kid.

    Download

Clare Dunn (Halloween) OC: …and stuff. :23
“Halloween was always hit and miss. I mean it’s five miles to my nearest neighbor. So, for us if we wanted to go trick-or-treating or whatever, some of the country kids a couple of years would all band together and we’d drive around in vehicles from house to house to house. So, we’d all pile into a pickup and then we’d go annoy our neighbors for candy and stuff.”

Audio / Dierks Bentley talks about the Halloweens of his childhood.

    Download

Dierks Bentley (Halloween) OC: … …around home. [laughs]  :23
“Oh, when I was a kid, I was all into fireworks. Growing up in Arizona, we couldn’t get ’em, so we’d have ’em shipped in illegally. I still remember the name of the guy we’d call. His name was Joe, and he’d bring in, ship ’em in a package with no writing on ’em. We were all about M-80s in the mailboxes and bottle rocket wars. To me, as a kid, Halloween was fireworks, was blowing up stuff around home. [laughs]”

Audio / Eric Church recalls his favorite Halloween costume.

    Download

Eric Church (Halloween) OC: …Franklin Street. 1:18
“My favorite Halloween costume really came, I remember when I got a little older my first year of college, there’s this thing they do every year in Chapel Hill, North Carolina – Halloween on Franklin Street. We drove down from Boone, North Carolina. I had a bunch of friends that went to University of North Carolina, and we didn’t have costumes and didn’t realize until we were on the way that we had to have costumes. So, we stopped at a costume place in Greensboro, North Carolina. It’s Halloween, so there’s a run on everything and couldn’t find anything. And we end up getting sent around, driving  around town. We end up finding this hole in the wall place, but they had the full costume, Sesame Street outfits. The real deal. The real ones [with] feathers and fur. We were Elmo, Cookie Monster and I was Big Bird, and the Big Bird was the actual Big Bird. It’s about 7-foot-4, and yiou looked out of the body and then you had these straps that went on since the head was a lot higher. There’s a lot of beer involved in Franklin Street, so we get down there and as the night went on, my straps broke, so the head would pivot. And so, I would be walking one way and the head would be facing the other, and it just became this funny…I didn’t know the head was on backwards. I had no idea. I see out of the body, so I’m just kinda walking around and people were talking to my ass-end. [laughs] The whole time peiople’d come up and start talking and go, ‘Hey, turn around.’ And I’d turn around, and they’d go, ‘No turn around.’ It was a mess. That year, there was no other Big Bird on Franklin Street.”

Audio / Jon Langston talks about his favorite Halloween show a few years ago when his band surprised him on stage.

    Download

Jon Langston (Halloween show) OC: …memorable Halloween. :59
“So we played a show a few years ago in Baton Rouge and I go off stage and I come back on stage for the encore. I don’t know this until midway through the song, I’m just into the crowd, like I’m engaged. I’m in the zone, and I just see everyone, like everybody else behind me but me and I’m like what’s going on. I turn around and each of them has a different huge mask on, like one of those stuffed animal masks, like my drummer has a dinosaur head on. My guitar players, one of ‘em has monkey head on, the other has a unicorn head on. And my bass player has like a, I think a dog or cat head or something like that. I couldn’t finish the song I was laughing so hard just seeing them playing with these like oversized huge mask heads on Halloween night. That was funny. It was a good prank, so that was probably the most memorable Halloween.”

Audio / Jon Pardi talks about his favorite Halloween costumes as a child.

    Download

Jon Pardi (Halloween) 1 OC: …the Superman. :15
“Man, I went through phases of costumes – the Superman costume, then it was a ninja, then I was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle one year. I remember rockin’ the Superman.”

Audio / Jon Pardi reveals his favorite Halloween candy.

    Download

Jon Pardi (Halloween candy) OC: …during Halloween. :06
“Man! The candy corn is pretty good, and that’s seasonal, so it only kinda pops out during Halloween.”

Audio / JORDAN DAVIS TALKS ABOUT HIS FAVORITE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES OVER THE YEARS.

    Download

Jordan Davis (Halloween costumes) OC: …jet black. :49
“I can remember being really big into Power Rangers. I always liked the Red Ranger. I remember being Red Ranger one Halloween. I remember me and my br4other being big into the Ninja Turtles. I was Donatello one year, which I think was the purple turtle. I think, though, my favorite Halloween was I was in college and I went as Luigi from Mario and Luigi, and I actually grew a legit mustache and dyed it jet black and ran into an ex-girlfriend at the costume shop and completely forgot I had the mustache on. So, when Is saw her, she was like, ‘So, you’re going with a mustache nowadays, huh?’ [laughs] I remember being like, ‘I swear this is part of my Halloween costume.’ [laughs] When I dyed my mustache, my top lip was black for a week. Like I really did dye it jet black.”

Audio / JORDAN DAVIS TALKS ABOUT HIS FAVORITE HALLOWEEN CANDY.

    Download

Jordan Davis (Halloween candy) OC: …some Starbursts. :21
“My favorite Halloween candy [is] probably Reese’s or M&M’s, although I love the variety of Starburst. It’s one that I feel like I only eat at Halloween, because I feel like at Halloween one of the popular ones is the two-piece Starburst things. So, probably Reese’s, M&Ms and throw in some Starbursts.”

Audio / CANDY CORN IS A PRETTY POLARIZING CANDY THAT ONLY COMES OUT AROUND HALLOWEEN. SOME LOVE IT; SOME HATE IT AND NEITHER OPINION IS WRONG. JORDAN DAVIS SIDES WITH THE HATERS (DON’T BLAME HIM), SINCE HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO CANDY CORN.

    Download

Jordan Davis (no candy corn) OC: …they’re awful. :05
“You know what I never got? The candy corns. I’ve never been a candy corn guy. I think they’re awful.”

“My favorite family costume was from a couple of years ago when I had my six-and-a-half-month-old beard going, and me and the whole family dressed up as Star Wars characters. So, I was a young Obi Wan Kenobi, Jennifer was Princess Leia, Colby and Marion were Storm Troopers, Hampton was Darth Vadar and Hawk was, I guess, pretty much still a baby, and he dressed up as Yoda. It was pretty classic.”

“My tradition for Halloween is Caroline picks the outfit. I never know what I’m wearing. So that day, I’ll talk to the neighbors ‘cause I have a tractor back there and I’ll go get my tractor and get a big long trailer, and then I’ll run down to…a couple miles from the farm, we’ve got a big hay farmer that keeps hay and you run in there and pay him for his hay bales. And I’ll load the hay up and get the hayride ready and we’ll take all the kids behind the tractor and have a fun Halloween with all that.”

“Me and Caroline did one year where I dressed up as the old lady, and she dressed up as, she called herself a dirty old man. So, she went around acting like an old man saying snide comments to everybody. That was a fun one. The main thing is Caroline is big, she loves Halloween and always has.”

Anyone who knows me knows I love all things scary and gory, so especially on Halloween all the scary movies that come out in theaters, I am there every single time.” MADDIE: “And I never go with her because I hate scary things.” TAE: “You know what’s funny? As little girls, everyone wants to dress up as princesses, and I think I was a witch like six years in a row. I just wanted to be scary.” MADDIE: “Girl, I was like Jasmine and you know [other] princesses.”

“Honestly, I think one of my most proud and embarrassed Halloween costumes is I went as Terry from Reno 9-1-1. I had the roller skates, the short-shorts, the tied-up shirt. Looking back, it wasn’t the manliest thing I ever did, but it got a lot of laughs. And I think that year my favorite candy I ever had was Busch Light.”

  • KEITH URBAN IS JOINED BY ERIC CHURCH ON NEW VERSION OF THE HIT SINGLE “WE WERE.”

Four-time GRAMMY® Award winner and reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year Keith Urban released a brand-new version of his hit single, “We Were,” now featuring labelmate and friend Eric Church. Church, a three-time CMA and six-time ACM winner himself, wrote the song along with Ryan Tyndell and Jeff Hyde. He adds his own unmistakable vocals to the nostalgic track.

“I heard that my buddy Eric was a writer on ‘We Were,’ so I thought ‘hey, what a cool opportunity for people to get to hear a writer singing,’” Keith says. “I think this guy could be really big!!!!!”

“We Were” is Keith Urban’s 40th Top 10 single on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart, marking another in a long line of Top 10 hits, including a record setting streak of 38 – the longest by any artist on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart.

Keith’s recently announced European tour, his first in more than a decade, kicks off in Amsterdam on May 2nd.

Church, meanwhile, recently topped the charts with his reflective track “Some Of It” and is currently making his way up the charts with his latest, “Monsters.” He’s on the road with his unrivaled Double Down Tour, featuring back-to-back nights of marathon shows sans-opening act in nearly 30 markets, as well as select one-night-only engagements including at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with 56,521 fans.

Keith Urban (We Were writers) OC: …completely original. :28
“It made sense when I heard it, not only Eric, but Ryan and Jeff as well. The three of them together have a particular thing, you know?  I think they wrote ‘Springsteen,’ as well. They just have a good chemistry, the three of them. But Eric has such a knack for storytelling anyway and choosing images and lyrics that they seem like a thousand people must have used them before, and yet they’re completely original.”
