• MADDIE & TAE RELEASE “DIE FROM A BROKEN HEART” TO RADIO!

Maddie & Tae released their critically-lauded and fan stand-out new single “Die From A Broken Heart” to Country radio today ahead of its May 6 official add date. Co-written by Maddie & Tae’s Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye along with Jonathan Singleton and Deric Ruttan, the song is off the duo’s highly-anticpated upcoming project One Heart To Another, out April 26 (Mercury Nashville). Fans can preview the EP here and watch a stirring acoustic performance of the song here.

“Ushering in their new era” (Billboard), “Die From A Broken Heart” has quickly become an undeniable next single, immediately resonating with fans and mounting over 23 million streams.

The duo will continue to introduce the new single to audiences across North America this summer, hitting the road as direct support on Carrie Underwood’s Cry Pretty Tour 360, kicking off May 1st in Greensboro, N.C.

Award-winning duo Maddie & Tae are drawing praise for their new music “anchored around their stellar vocal pairings and some of the tightest harmonies on Music Row (Rolling Stone). “The sound is identifiable while still representing a distinct step forward” (Billboard), giving fans a taste of what to expect from their highly-anticipated forthcoming debut on Mercury Nashville on April 26. Maddie & Tae first broke out in 2013 with their brilliant take down of bro-country, “Girl In A Country Song,” which took Country radio by storm, skyrocketing to the top of the charts and quickly going PLATINUM. The duo became only the third female duo in 70 years to top the Country Airplay charts, also earning trophies from the Country Music Academy and Radio Disney Music Awards along with multiple ACM, CMA and CMT Award nominations. Receiving widespread praise from NPR, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, The Washington Post, Glamour and others, country music’s hottest stars including Dierks Bentley, Lee Brice and Brad Paisley have welcomed Maddie & Tae on the road, with Carrie Underwood recently inviting the duo out as direct support on her 2019 Cry Pretty Tour 360 kicking-off in May. Maddie & Tae (writing Die From a Broken Heart) OC: (Maddie) …special here. :39
TAE: “We wrote ‘Die from a Broken Heart’ two weeks after an actual break up that I had gone through. But I’m so, I don’t know. It’s hard for me to really dig into my emotions in the midst of my emotions. I’m more of like an after the point, and then I can kind of revisit it and work through everything. But I turned off my emotions for the most part during that writing session just to look at it from a logical and practical standpoint, just so that I wasn’t a mess during writing it. But that was probably the hardest one just because I felt everything that the song says.” MADDIE: “I knew she did not want to write a breakup song that day, but I was like ‘there’s something so special here.”

  • KIP MOORE’S “THE BULL” IS NOT ONLY HIS STORY, BUT IT’S ALSO THE STORY OF HIS FANS, AS WELL.

Kip Moore is making his way up the country charts with the fan-favorite “The Bull,” from his Slowheart album. He says it’s not only his song, but it’s the song that tells the story of his fans’ lives, as well, and they have offered the star concrete proof.

“I’ve heard thousands of stories from fans. This is definitely a favorite on the Slowheart record,” says Kip. “I’ve counted over a thousand tattoos in meet-and-greets all with ‘thanks to the bulls that bucked me off.’ This song is not only my song, but it’s every fan’s song.”

Kip makes the trek north of the border later this week to play shows in Moncton (Thursday, April 18th), Halifax on Friday (April 19th) and Charlottesville, Canada on Saturday (April 20th).

This past weekend, Kip released Room to Spare on his first Record Store Day Vinyl. The special collection of songs, handpicked by Kip, included seven tracks that were released on his ROOM TO SPARE: THE ACOUSTIC EP, marking the first time the songs will be available on vinyl. As well as the stripped-back acoustic tracks, there will be five additional tracks from Moore’s previous studio albums including “Plead The Fifth,” “Last Shot,” “The Bull” and “Guitar Man” taken from his wildly-acclaimed SLOWHEART and “That Was Us” from the highly-praised WILD ONES.

  • MADDIE & TAE ARE PROUD TO BE NOMINATED ACM DUO OF THE YEAR.

Maddie & Tae are nominated for Duo of the Year at this year’s ACM Awards, and they couldn’t be more thankful for the recognition.

“Being in the Duo category, especially being the only females in that category, is really, really special,” says Maddie Marlow. We are just in such good company. Every single duo that’s nominated this year, we are really good friends with and we love and support and root for, but just the fact the industry acknowledges what we’re doing, especially after the crazy past couple of years we’ve had, just to get that nod saying, ‘Hey! You’re doing good. Keep doing what you’re doing,’ is so special. We do not take that for granted ‘cause we didn’t expect that at all, and so it was a huge shock for us and such good news for us this year.”

The 54th Academy of Country Music Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas April 7th at 8pm ET/delayed PT on CBS.

  • KEITH URBAN WAS MOVED BY THE SONG “BURDEN” AND WAS COMPELLED TO RECORD IT.

On  the 54th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards last weekend, Keith Urban took to the stage to deliver an emotionally charged and impassioned performance of “Burden,” originally written and recorded by Irish singer/songwriter Foy Vance.

Now in a two-minute video, The Story Behind “Burden,” which can be seen below, Keith, the now reigning ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year, explains how his concert in London led him to Ed Sheeran, a two-hour bike ride through London and his compulsion to record and perform “Burden” at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

“We played at the 02 in London and Ed (Sheeran) came out to see us play,” explains Urban.  “We talked about Foy (Vance), who’s an incredible musician and songwriter. The next day, I had a day off in London, so I got on my bike and put my headphones on and road around London for like two hours listening to Foy non-stop.”

“And when I got back to Nashville, I realized that I had never seen him play live – he must be fantastic – so I jumped on YouTube and heard this song “Burden” and just fell in love with him.  I thought, ‘I’d love to be able to do a version of the song – the way that I was feeling it in my heart.’’”

So with technology as it is today, with the ability for artists to share music in real-time, that’s what Urban did and “Burden” can now be streamed at http://strm.to/Burden.

Recorded in Nashville with co-producer Dave Cobb, the song is a “beautifully written, minimalist prayer” that Urban says spoke to him.  “Like the paint that’s drying on a heart that’s broke.  Let me carry your burden.”

Keith Urban (Burden) OC: …what it is. :43
“It’s a song written by Foy Vance, who’s an incredible singer-songwriter from Ireland, that I recently…I knew about but I didn’t know a lot about him, and I fell upon that song ‘Burden,’ and it just floored me. I just thought it was the most beautiful, simple, honest prayer of a song and I was compelled to try to get into the studio and capture it the way I felt about it and what it meant to me. But it wasn’t intended to be a single or any of the traditional things, it was just something I felt very passionate about and wanted to capture and perform. I think that’s the great thing about 2019 is we can do that as artists. We can be moved by something and capture it and immediately put it out without labeling what it is.”

  • GEORGE STRAIT HAS PLAYED EVERY LITTLE HONKY TONK BAR.

Early in George Strait’s career, he played every little honky tonk bar in Texas you could think of, and the Broken Spoke which is featured on the cover of his new album, Honky Tonk Time Machine, was one he played quite often. Whereas now he has fans standing in front of the stage and standing in their seats to watch him perform, if you didn’t have the crowd dancing in a honky tonk, you weren’t doing your job.

“All of those honky tonks have a really, really great feel to ‘em. I mean, they’re very intimate,” says George. “Of course, in those days, the crowds weren’t standing at the front of the stage. They were dancing. That was what it was all about. If they weren’t dancing, you probably weren’t doing too good.”

While he played several of the honky tonks, George does have a few favorites. “If I had to pick three of the best honky tonks that I ever worked in those days, I think it would be Gruene (pr. Green) Hall, Cheatham Street Warehouse and Broken Spoke.”

King George just released his 30th studio album, Honky Tonk Time Machine, last week, and he is currently making his way up the country charts with his latest song, “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar.”

  • MADDIE & TAE ARE MOVED TO TEARS–AND TO WRITE–AFTER SEEING THE FILM, “BREAKTHROUGH.”

Maddie & Tae are featured on the soundtrack for the movie, Breakthrough, which includes music from and inspired by the highly-anticipated motion picture. The two were sent the film and were blown away by the inspirational flick.

“They sent us the movie Breakthrough, and they sent it to us and we watched it on our computers individually. And I got a notepad out and just wrote down things that inspired me, but I cried probably every five minutes, and so it was hard to write thoughts down ‘cause I was so moved,” says Maddie Marlow. “Faith is a huge thing for Tae and I. We are very vocal about our faith, and just watching a movie that can invoke that much emotion and I feel like they captured the story so well and the acting was so good in the movie and I was so, so inspired and moved by it.”

The ladies were so inspired by the movie, the story and the acting, they were motivated to write a song called “People Need People,” which ended up on the film’s soundtrack.

Breakthrough, starring Chrissy Metz (This is Us), Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama) and Topher Grace (That ‘70s Show), is based on the inspirational true story of one mother’s unfaltering love and faith in the face of impossible odds when her son falls through an icy Missouri lake, but she refuses to give up hope as he lies lifeless.

The soundtrack, which also features songs contributed by Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Darius Rucker, Mickey Guyton, Adam Hambrick and the film’s star Chrissy Metz, among others, is available Friday (April 5th), and the film will be released nationwide April 17th.

Maddie & Tae, who are nominated for Duo of the Year at this year’s ACM Awards, will hit the road with Carrie Underwood on the Cry Pretty Tour 360 beginning May 1st in Greensboro, North Carolina.

  • CAYLEE HAMMACK SHARES A CLOSER LOOK AT HER “FAMILY TREE” WITH OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERING EXCLUSIVELY ON CMT.

Quickly becoming one of Nashville’s most buzz-worthy new artists among fans, radio and critics, Capitol Records Nashville’s Caylee Hammack will premiere the official music video for “Family Tree” tomorrow on CMT, before being available with all partners on Monday. Hammack effortlessly brings quirky autobiographical lyrics to life with her ferociously fun debut video directed by Dano Cerny (Elle King, The Chainsmokers, The Roots). Weaving together spunky imagery from her small-town South Georgia upbringing and personal tokens from her storied past, the singer/songwriter chronicles her real-life journey with the people who shaped her, inviting fans to feel like they’ve known the fiery newcomer and her ‘family tree’ for a lifetime. Fans can listen to Hammack’s debut single here.

“I created this song about the people I love with the people I love, it’s been pretty special to have my Nashville family help me shed light on my Georgia family,” said Hammack. “I think this video really goes above and beyond in translating the song into a true visual experience. Welcome to the family, y’all!”

The video for the song “filled with smart, shit-kicking energy” (Rolling Stone), was co-written and co-produced by Hammack. She was highlighted as an “Artist to Watch” by outlets such as The Bobby Bones Show, Rolling Stone and HITS Magazine and has already claimed upcoming tour slots with Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert and Brothers Osborne and will appear at some of country music’s biggest festivals including Country LakeShakeiHeartCountry Festival, Faster Horses Festival and more.

    Background On Caylee Hammack
Caylee Hammack constantly felt like a self-described “hippie in a hillbilly town.” “I used to pray every night as a kid, ‘God, just please make me different. Don’t make me like everyone else,’” she remembers. Hammack is indeed refreshingly different. She’s a country expressionist, a grungy firebrand and a spiritual seeker. And at only 24, she has already packed a full life into just a few years, using fake IDs to get gigs around South Georgia, turning down a college scholarship for a love that burned out just a few months later, sleeping in her car when she arrived in Nashville and then losing her home in an electrical fire. “My dad has always said that the most beautiful and strongest things are forged in the fire,” she says. “Iron is nothing until you work it in a fire. Glass cannot be blown without intense heat. You can’t make anything beautiful or strong without a little heat.” Tested by the fire, Caylee Hammack has been molded into an artist with incredible depth and a powerhouse voice that can effortlessly veer from fiery and demanding to quiet and vulnerable. Her life experience and relentless curiosity have coalesced into a country cocktail that’s rooted in tradition but expands with shards of modern pop and rock. Her self-penned songs tug on her own life story – bad decisions, secret affairs, broken hearts, a quirky family lineage – as she invariably turns the lemons of her daring life into sonic lemonade.
