  • LADY ANTEBELLUM, ALONG WITH KELSEA BALLERINI AND BRETT YOUNG, COVER SHANIA TWAIN.

    from RollingStone Country:

Lady Antebellum launch their You Look Good World Tour with Kelsea Ballerini and Brett Young on May 26th in Bakersfield, California, and the musically like-minded artists have already been tossing around song ideas to cover together onstage.

In a new video premiering on Rolling Stone Country, Ballerini and Young join Lady A members Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, on guitar, for a stripped-down take on Shania Twain’s 1998 country chart-topper “You’re Still the One.”

“I’ve always been a big Shania Twain fan. I’ve always thought she made timeless music,” says Kelley, who came up with the idea to cover the ballad. “And, man, ‘Still the One’ is such a timeless song and a timeless melody.”

While Lady A haven’t decided exactly which songs they may interpret on their upcoming trek, “You’re Still the One” is in the running. “If the fans love it, then I think we should try to do it out on tour,” Kelley says.

The group is also excited at the creative options that arise from bringing a horn section on the road. Brass is a big part of current single “You Look Good,” and the trio have been re-crafting some of their past hits, like “Downtown,” with horns.

We are going to get really creative,” Kelley says of the tour’s setlist. “We’ve learned we’ve got to do something to make it fresh for somebody who has come to our show every time we are in their town. We always mix up the set list a lot, but now adding a horn section is going to take it to the next level.”

Lady Antebellum will release their new album Heart Break on June 9th.

  • BROTHERS OSBORNE’S JOHN & TJ HAVE A BLAST WITH THE NEW VIDEO FOR THEIR SINGLE, ‘IT AIN’T MY FAULT.’

Reigning ACM and CMA “Vocal Duo of the Year,” Brothers Osborne, debuts the music video for their raucous new single “It Ain’t My Fault” with VEVO today, watch HERE. John and TJ Osborne partnered with directors Wes Edwards and Ryan Silver for the eccentric video that originated as a comedic spoof on the action film Point Break. Brothers Osborne portray pawn shop owners who are robbed at gunpoint by four masked men disguised as former presidents. Hijinks ensue as the video chronicles the consequential police chase. Check out all the news at brothersnewsnetwork.com.

For an inside look at the making of the “It Ain’t My Fault” video, People.com has premiered an exclusive behind-the-scenes piece which can be viewed HERE.

“The media these days is flooded with all things presidential and politics,” John notes. “No matter what happens, politicians all seem to pin the blame on something else as opposed to being accountable for their own actions. We felt the connection with the song title was perfect.”

TJ adds, “John and I always like song titles that aren’t immediately obvious but are common everyday sayings. We’re all guilty of saying ‘It Ain’t My Fault’ more so than it actually being true. When our co-writer, Lee Thomas Miller, brought up the idea we loved it. We wanted a video that was as exciting as the music.”

Climbing country radio’s Top 25, “It Ain’t My Fault” is Brothers Osborne’s current single off their critically-acclaimed debut album, Pawn Shop. The infectious track is quickly winning over both critics and fans alike with Rolling Stone Country praising, “‘It Ain’t My Fault’ rejuvenates the tired country-rock vibe overrunning the airwaves…it’s unique in the sonic landscape.” The song has already cracked the Top 20 on Shazam’s country charts and continues to increase in sales rankings each week.

“It Ain’t My Fault” follows the duo’s GRAMMY-nominated single “21 Summer” as well as the GRAMMY-nominated, Platinum-certified, No.1 smash hit “Stay A Little Longer.” The singer/songwriter siblings recently swept both duo categories at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards joining Brooks & Dunn as the only country music duos to win both “New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year” as well as “Vocal Duo of the Year” in the same night. They also stand as the reigning CMA “Vocal Duo of the Year.”

Brothers Osborne will next join Chris Stapleton as part of his All American Road Show starting May 5th in Atlanta. For a full list of tour dates, news, images and more, visit www.BrothersOsborne.com

“The video treatment to ‘It Ain’t My Fault’ was written by Ryan Silver and Wes Edwards. We got a lot of good treatments for the video, but this one seemed to be the most bold and daring, and we laughed the whole time we were reading it. It definitely have a huge political undertone to it, but at the end of the day, we hope people come away laughing because politics these days has been so polarizing and such a dark part of American culture that we want people to be able to laugh at it for a second. And, yeah, that’s it, and that’s why we tried to take the risks that we did. We know that we might piss a few people off along the way, but hopefully we make everyone laugh a little bit.”

  • DIERKS BENTLEY REUNITES MILITARY FAMILY BEFORE HIS SHOW IN FRESNO.

    dierks staff sergeant

Dierks Bentley played a special role in reuniting one local military family during his 2017 WHAT THE HELL WORLD TOUR stop in Fresno, CA, on Saturday (4/29). During a meet & greet with Sgt. Steven Mendez’ family backstage before the concert, Bentley helped Mendez surprise his two sons after being overseas for nearly a year. Following the emotional reunion, the “consummate entertainer” (The Boot) invited the family on stage during his performance of “Home,” where the capacity crowd’s “U-S-A” chants lifted the show even higher.

“I can’t begin to imagine the sacrifice of being away from your family for sometimes years,” said Bentley. “‘I love the fact that Country music fans hold our military and their families in such high regard and always jump at the chance to say thank you. It was a really cool moment in the show, and a really special thing for me to be part of.”

Bentley will continue to throw the party of the summer with “ferocious live performances” (Fresno Bee) when he launches the next leg of his 2017 WHAT THE HELL WORLD TOUR, with special guests Cole Swindell and Jon Pardi, on May 19th in Columbia, MD. With “lyrics that are compassionate and purposeful” (The Post-Standard) he has “had the audience singing along at top volume” while “working the crowd with the charismatic brand of showmanship that’s made him one of Country music’s most exciting entertainers,” (Arizona Republic). • LADY ANTEBELLUM PREVIEWS NEW TOUR WITH KELSEA AND BRETT.

    from Rolling Stone Country.com:

When Lady Antebellum hit the road on May 26th, the Grammy-winning trio will do so with a horn section in tow – not to mention opening acts Kelsea Ballerini and Brett Young. Ahead of their sprawling summer You Look Good Tour, Lady A’s Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley gathered Ballerini and Young for a rapid-fire brainstorming session, running through possible onstage collaborations. They also sat down for our Ram Report cameras and a Q&A with host Ashley Eicher. Here’s what Ballerini, Young and Lady A, who will release their album Heart Break on June 9th, had to say.

This marks the band’s first major tour since you each took time for your own projects. What was it like coming together again to plan this run?
Charles Kelley: Like most tours, we want this to be an evolution of what we’ve done in the past. We want it to be fun. One of the main reasons we chose Kelsea and Brett was we felt like they were the new bar coming up in country and we want the best of the best. And we wanted it to be a big ol’ party. And both of them are seasoned performers. We’ve been lucky enough to tour with Kelsea in the past and to see her grow into the rock star she’s become. And Brett has always been a great singer. You’ve got years and years of experience. Not to say you are old, Brett [laughs].

Hillary Scott: We are coming into this new album and this tour with so much refreshed excitement … for the three of us to have taken a little bit of a break from recording. We did play 30 shows last year, so we were never not together a lot of the time. But for the creative process, we just came in so excited and wanted to flip it on its head – every other record we’ve ever made and the process itself. We went to Florida and wrote with some of our friends and we went to L.A. and worked with a new producer, Busbee.

Kelley: We lived in the same house.

Scott: We did. We Airbnb’d a house together and Dave is an incredible chef and mixologist.

Kelsea Ballerini: We’ll test that theory.

Scott: But it really was an incredible way to make a record.

Kelley: And I think it was really reflected in the music too. The first single “You Look Good,” there’s definitely an energy and a freshness to the sound. With the music tied in with this tour, we also wanted it in our openers to be two performers who really set the tone for the night. We get really lucky with our openers. A couple years ago we had Sam Hunt and Hunter Hayes out with us. We try to get these guys when they are on their way to super stardom, and Kelsea is already there and Brett isn’t far behind. It’s really fun to see this new crop of artists get in front of a larger audience and help bring a lot of fresh new fans to our shows as well.

Hillary, you’ve been a bit of a mentor to Kelsea, haven’t you?
Scott: We’ve known each other for three years. Your 21st birthday party was a surprise at my house.

Ballerini: Yeah, she hosted my 21st birthday party with all of my friends, many that she hadn’t even met yet. She just opened up her house for it.

Kelley: Well, thanks for the invitation! Must have been a girls’ party.

Brett, what do you feel like you can learn from Lady A on the road?
Brett Young: At this stage, I still don’t know who I am as a performer. I know what makes me comfortable, but sometimes you have to get outside of your comfort zone. I want to learn more from them about stage presence, but it is so much more than just being on stage. There are so many things that go on behind the scenes.

Scott: When we were on our first tour, we were opening up for Martina McBride and it was the first big stage we had ever had. And, to your point, that is exactly what we learned most. It was not only getting comfortable on a big stage, but it was how to treat people well and keep them happy. We always say the Martina McBride tour was like going to college.

Kelley: We want you guys to get out there and get the crowd fired up. So we try not to have too many restrictions when it comes to that. It should be a party. And we have a lot of fun backstage. We aren’t one of those bands that sits on our bus all day. We pull out the ping-pong table, invite everybody in to have drink. I know we are working on some really cool moments to have these two come out on stage with us. So you are going to have to make sure when you get done, Brett, that you don’t have too many drinks so that you can last. I know Kelsea is responsible, but I don’t know about you [laughs].

    Young: I got you, man.

Kelsea, you’ve known Lady A for a while now. What have you already learned from them?
Ballerini: I had the We Owned the Night tour DVD that they did. When I moved to Nashville, that’s how I learned how to perform. I’d get all of these tour DVDs and watch them to learn. And theirs was one of my favorites. Then last year or the year before, when Sam or Hunter couldn’t do a show, I would fill in for them. So it was the first time I got to play an arena. It was the first time I got to play a big tour like that. And it was incredible.

You’re bringing a horn section on the road. What does that do to the Lady Antebellum live sound?
Kelley: We had been going back and forth on whether we have this horn section out on tour, because right now only one song, “You Look Good,” really has horns in it. We started talking about all the other songs like “Downtown” that would really lend themselves to horns. And then we were like, “I don’t know, maybe it’s not the smartest play yet.” But after the [ACM Awards performance], every person I ran in to at the after party said, “You are going to have a horn section on the road, right?” So we were like, “We’ve gotta do a horn section now.”

Scott: Not a marching band though [laughs].

Kelley: It definitely makes us perform better. You feed off that energy. Dave and I were just talking before about what cover songs open themselves up to having this great horn section. We are going to get really creative. The next couple of months are going to be a lot of woodshedding and dialing everything in. One thing we’ve learned too is we’ve got to do something to make it fresh for somebody who has come to our show every time we are in their town. We always mix up the set list a lot, but now adding a horn section is going to take it to the next level.

This tour has 65 shows and hits six countries, including your first-ever concerts in South Africa. How do you explain the global reach of Lady Antebellum?
Haywood: It is a testament to country music. With country music, you don’t realize how global it is. We’ll be doing London, Dublin, Scotland and already the response just with tickets being on sale has been phenomenal. There are so many great country fans around the world, which we had no idea until “Need You Now.” Then we toured and thousands of people in all these countries are about it.

Kelley: They are loyal. When they buy into you as an artist, they really are with you on the journey. It’s humbling.

You’re planning some collaborations together. Anything specific locked in yet?
Scott: Well we have a lot of ideas brewing.

Kelley: We do. Hillary is a giant Beyoncé fan.

    Ballerini: Who isn’t?

Kelley: [“Crazy in Love”] is one we might try to work and we will see how that goes. We are going to keep thinking on some ideas. Brett has such a soulful voice, I want to try and find something. Maybe we can have a little dudes section, then a girls section and then maybe an all-sing.

    How about backup dancers?
    Kelley: No back-up dancers.

Scott: But we have a horn section and that’s a good start.

  • CHRIS STAPLETON’S ‘ROOM’ HAS A DISTINCTIVE SOUND.

Chris Stapleton recorded his much-anticipated new album, From A Room: Volume 1, at RCA Studio A, just as he had with his previous multiple-platinum collection. Re-teaming with producer Dave Cobb (Traveller), the album takes its name from Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, where it was recorded during the winter of 2016-17.

“That whole room is a sweet spot. The thing to know about that room is that room sounds like that room,” says Chris. “I’m also a fan of studios that have a sound. Over time, there have been places that have sounds, you know, Capitol out in L.A. or Muscle Shoals. You can point to places that have sounds – Stax, Motown – these places have sounds, not just by the guys playing ‘em, but the actual sound of the room. The room’s become part of the band. Here in town, the place that has the most of that kind of mojo to me is that room, so that’s what I like about it.”

  • SAM HUNT SCORES A HUGE HIT WITH ‘BODY LIKE A BACK ROAD.’

Sam Hunt’s smash hit “Body Like a Back Road” scores a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart and climbs to the top spot on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart this week.

“I can’t say that I expected for it to do as well as it has done. If you listen to the first record, you can see how I fit into that song, but also it’s different. It’s not like anything from the first record, so it was cool to go out on a limb a little bit, but to have the fans of the first record get on board. So, that was cool,” says Sam. “The success that it’s had has just been awesome. It’s not that polarizing of a song, so fortunately I think it’s palatable to a lot of tastes and people have enjoyed it, hopefully. So, it’s been awesome to have a song after the first record. Your second record is always the thing that everybody’s saying, ‘Well, let’s see if he can do it again’ or whatever. They call it the ‘Sophomore Slump,’ I think. I’m just so glad that [laughs] this song has reacted right off the bat and I don’t feel like I’m behind the eight ball.”

“Body Like a Back Road” is going strong, selling over 805,000 digital downloads with more than 117 million streams since its release just 13 weeks ago.

Sam returns to the road May 9th to perform at The Players Championship in Ponte Verde Beach, Florida and at The Preakness in Baltimore, Maryland on May 28th before his 15 in a 30 Tour kicks off June 1st in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mother’s Day is on Sunday (May 14th), and some of your favorite country artists are celebrating the mothers in their lives this weekend.

In 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother’s Day, held on the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.

And her undying devotion to her kids – to my sister and I – always believing in us a million percent, always backing us up a million percent and helping us navigate life and navigate our dreams and helping us go towards that goal – those are some of the qualities that I hope to have some day as a mother, you know? And I’m so grateful I have THE best mom in the WORLD!”

Audio / Darius Rucker talks about not disappointing his beloved mother, who passed away in 1992.

“I think that’s the main reason I am how I am…an innate fear of disappointing my mom.  My mom’s not even alive, and I have a fear of her looking down from heaven and going, ‘Man I’m just disappointed in my son.’ She could have said anything in the world to me, but if she would have said, ‘Son, you just disappointed me,’ That would have killed me. It would have killed me.”

Audio / Darius Rucker’s mother, who passed away in 1992, was always the singer’s biggest supporter.

Darius Rucker (Mother) OC: …in my corner. :44
“My mom was just always great. She worked a lot. She was a nurse and she worked a lot. She took a lot of overtime and stuff to make sure we could live basically, but she always just so supportive, ever since I was a kid. I was always a music kid. Growing up in an African-American neighborhood, I was never that guy who was gonna be pigeonholed to let people say I could only listen to this and I could only do this, because I was African-American. She always supported whatever I wanted to do, whatever I wanted to listen to, wherever I wanted to go, she always had my back. Going to college and everything, she was my biggest supporter and never let my brothers and sisters knock me down or try to tell me I can’t do this or that. All of my success comes because my mother was always in my corner.”

We work as a team together when I’m home, and it takes everyone to get the job done, me and her, working together. So, when I go on the road, I just have so much respect for her because it’s hard to do it right, if you want to do it great, and she does a great job with it. It’s really rewarding, but it’s also very challenging. I’m so thankful that she takes it on the way she does, and our kids are very lucky to have her.”

One of those people that’s been through a lot in her life, adversity wise and never complains, always really resilient with anything that’s happened to her. And it’s just that attitude, the positive attitude, regardless of what has happened that I think is the one thing that I got from her. With career, she’s always been a person that’s been really positive through times that I couldn’t find a positive streak, [laughs] and she was always really positive, and very much believes in tough it out, keep working hard, and that’s her motto with stuff like that. I’ve always been impressed with that stuff. Then musically, she’s where I get my talent from, musically. She sings great, always has, her mom sang great. I owe my musical chops to her. And she still sings some. So, career-wise, I owe her everything. And just in life-wise she’s given me a lot of the qualities that it has taken for me to get me where I am. Not only as a musician, but as a man.”

She’s always been like that, and she’s a great mother. She’s always proud, and she’s always there supporting and being a great mom. She’s just a good human being. There’s not one mean bone in her body. And she cries about every time I talk to her. She always worries about me. I have to tell her, ‘Stop worrying about me.’”

Charles Kelley (Mother) OC: …playing music. :23
“We were honestly, at times, pretty hard to handle, both of us. We used to play our music loud up above on the second floor [of the house], bang on the drums and the guitar. And my mom’s just one of those people, she’ll do anything for her family and she sacrificed a lot for us boys. Anytime we needed something, she made it happen. And so, we owe her a lot. She’s definitely the reason we’re playing music.”

“I honestly would not be able to do it without my mom. I get overwhelmed sometimes, and if she wasn’t there to comfort me or tell me, ‘Look just realize what you’ve got going for you,’ I’d be up the creek [without a paddle]. She’s got my back. My mom would walk through a fire pit for me, and I’d do the same for her.”

“Being a mother is a life-long dream for me. When I was a kid, that’s what I wanted to be is a mama. It took a long time. I wasn’t ever sure that I would be, but I am now, and it’s the greatest gift of my life. And as I’m a mother now, I see what my mother gave up and her sacrifices and her love and how she made us the most important thing in her life, and that’s what I strive to do for my little girl. It’s the most important job I have, and it’s the most responsibility that I have, and I try to live up to a great example that I had for my mother.”

“There isn’t anything that means more to me than sitting on the bench and eating a grilled cheese sandwich with this little guy who calls me Mama. There isn’t anything better than that. He’s just a little miracle. I went from dreaming about him to eating grilled cheese sandwiches and ketchup with him, and I could never have dreamed this up – how good it could be, and it just gets better every day.”
