Keith Urban kicked off the 10th Anniversary of Musicians On Call, a nonprofit organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in hospitals across the country, with a surprise performance at the Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville on Wednesday (February 2nd).

Keith serenaded patients, their families and caregivers with acoustic versions of some of his biggest hits, including his recent multi-week No. 1 “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” “Wasted Time,” “You Look Good in My Shirt” and “Somebody Like You.”

“The power of music to not only connect people, but to bring comfort into someone’s life is something quite divine,” he says. “Visiting with these kids and their families yesterday was truly inspiring, as was the chance to play for them and bring a little light to their day, even if for a few moments. I’m very grateful to Musicians On Call for the good work they do and honored to be a small part of that.”

Keith, along with Little Big Town and many others, will perform during a live concert event titled Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees, which will air February 14th on CBS to honor the 40th anniversary of the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever.

  • KEITH URBAN PLAYS FOR ‘TIPS’ ON NASHVILLE’S LOWER BROADWAY.

If you happened to be on Lower Broadway at the corner of Legends in Nashville on Wednesday (February 1st), you might have seen an incredible singer and guitar player with long blonde hair and who sounded eerily like superstar Keith Urban. Well, it turns out to actually be the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer sporting a wig, ball cap and his guitar.

Keith opened his guitar case and people gathered around to listen to him sing his recent No. 1 song, “Wasted Time,” and some folks actually tossed money into the open case.

“We’re doing a little craziness for CRS,” Keith told Nashville’s Tennessean, explaining he was filming a video for Country Radio Seminar that will take place in Nashville February 22nd-24th. “We’re just doing something a little crazy on the streets today in Nashville, doing a little busking,” he said. “We made $8. It’s pretty good.”

  • SAM HUNT RELEASES HIS NEW SINGLE, ‘BODY LIKE A BACK ROAD.’

Sam Hunt released his new single, “Body Like a Back Road,” on Wednesday (February 1st), which he co-wrote with his producer Zach Crowell, as well as frequent collaborators, Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally. The song goes for adds at country radio on Monday (February 6th).

“It’s a light-hearted song that was a lot of fun to write,” says Sam. “I’ve been writing a lot of songs over the past, I guess year-and-a-half, trying to conceptualize a new record and it started taking a heavy direction, and I sat down at one point and I was like okay, ‘I’m gonna lighten this up a little bit. This needs a light flare.’”

This is the second piece of music the Georgia native has put out, essentially since his 2014 album, Montevallo. He gave fans a surprise song, the autobiographical “Drinkin’ Too Much,” on New Year’s Eve.

You can catch him performing “Body Like a Back Road,” as well as many of his hits, when he returns to the road with his 15 in a 30 Tour June 1st in Cleveland, Ohio. He’s taking Maren Morris, Chris Janson and Ryan Follese along for the ride.

On Thursday (February 2nd), Sam will take a break from writing and recording the follow-up to Montevallo, when he performs at Club Nomadic, a traveling nightclub, in Houston prior to Super Bowl 51 (the Big Game).

  • SUPER BOWL 2017: Billy, Canaan, Darius, Josh, Lady A, Easton, Keith, Lauren and LBT

This Sunday (February 5th), millions of people around the world will be tuning in to Super Bowl 51 (the Big Game), including some of your favorite country artists. Some will be rooting for the Atlanta Falcons, while others will be pulling for the New England Patriots to win the Big Game. Billy Currington, Canaan Smith, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Easton Corbin, Keith Urban, Lauren Alaina and Little Big Town are definitely fans of football…as is Luke Bryan, who is set to perform the National Anthem at the Big Game at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday (February 5th) at 6:30pm ET on FOX.

Just before the game, Lady A will take part in the official pre-game party at the NRG Center, while Sam Hunt, a former University of Alabama Birmingham quarterback, headlines a rather cool venue – Club Nomadic, a collapsible traveling nightclub – on Thursday (Feb. 2nd).

Audio / Billy Currington is a big football fan.

Billy Currington (football fan) OC: …love football. :36
“I’m a big football fan. I mean, when I was growing up, if you asked me who my favorite team is now, I couldn’t tell you. But when I was a kid, it was the Dallas Cowboys. And I don’t know if it was because my mom bought my brother a Pittsburgh Steelers pennant for some reason, and bought me a Dallas Cowboys pennant, and of course over the year I fell in love with the Cowboys, and then I wanted a jersey the next Christmas, and then the next one, I wanted [more Cowboys stuff]. So, I became a long-term fan with those guys. But I like it all now that I’m older. I’ll watch any game, it doesn’t matter who’s playing. But [I] love football.”

Audio / Canaan Smith always has a good time watching the Super Bowl.

Canaan Smith (Super Bowl) OC: …It’s cool. :21
“Super Bowl’s all about pizza and commercials. You gotta sit down, you gotta drink your beer, get a little buzz. It’s pepperoni and banana peppers for me and my family. We sit down, we have a a good time, we have friends over. We have a nice TV, plenty of space. We have a good time. Usually, when it’s all said and done, we have a little dance party afterwards too. It’s cool.”

Audio / Darius Rucker is a HUGE football fan, as everyone probably knows by now. He even has a special man cave with probably six or seven (or more) televisions mounted on the wall to catch all of the games being played during the season. He explains why he loves football so much. SIDENOTE: He’s a huge Miami Dolphins fan, and word has it, just to be able to meet then Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino, he asked him to be in a Hootie & the Blowfish video for “Only Wanna Be With You.”

“Ever since I was five years old, I’ve loved football, and I love how physical it is. I love the chess match of the game. I love the speed of the game. I love college football, but for me watching pro football is better because the speed is so much more. For me, there’s two times a year, man — football season and waiting for football season.”

Audio / Easton Corbin says you can’t go on the bus during football season without a game being on the television.

Easton Corbin (football) OC: …that’s on. :07

HILLARY: “Honestly, chips and salsa, salsa or cheese dip or something. That’s like what I always go for. I could eat that every meal. No joke.” DAVE: “Best tailgate food is a big ole burger soaked in Dale’s sauce. That’s all you need.” HILLARY: “Or bratwurst. I forgot that. Those are good.” CHARLES: “Cold beer! A couple of little finger foods, but without cold beer, it’s not football watching.”

Audio / Lauren Alaina loves some college football, as she is an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan, but being from Georgia, she’ll most likely be pulling for the Atlanta Falcons as they take on the New England Patriots this Sunday.

Lauren Alaina (Super Bowl) OC: …I love it. :30
“My dad raised me to love football, so I think it’s like kind of in my blood to be obsessed with it. I feel like the guys are so passionate and they try so hard. Those people love playing that game as much as I love singing. I just love the heart and the drive and the passion behind it. I feel like those boys are playing as hard as they can – in college football and pro football – because it’s what they love to do and it’s their passion, and I just, I don’t know. I love it.”

Audio / Lauren Alaina talks about some of her favorite foods that she’d love to have during Sunday’s big game, but they’re ones she’s really tried to cut out since she’s gotten healthy.

    Download

Lauren Alaina (Super Bowl foods she wishes she could eat) OC: …with cheese? (laughs) :30
“Gosh, let’s see cheese dip. I would really like some cheese dip in my life again. Um, I’m a big fan of wings and hot dogs and pizza and cheesecake and poppers and cheese sticks and cheese, anything that has to do with cheese. Did you realize everything I named besides the wings, which you dip in blue cheese, had to do with cheese?” (laughs)

Audio / The members of Little Big Town make it no secret which team they’re pulling for in Sunday’s big game.

He’s gonna be catching the passes and the TDs, baby.” JIMI: “I’m excited, man. They’ve been threatening to be here for the past few years, and they’ve finally made it. It’s gonna be great.”

Audio / Little Big Town’s beautiful and talented Karen Fairchild was a badass growing up when she was playing quarterback for her powder puff football team.

    Download

LBT (football story) OC: …my lip. :40
“I was the quarterback to my powder puff team. I was running the ball and I came around the corner – this was in high school – and a foreign exchange student, I think her name was Inga (KIMBERLY: “Inga.”), and I didn’t want to fumble ‘cause my brother and my dad were there, and I come from this very athletic family, so I held onto the ball. I knew I was going to go down, so I let my head hit first and I bit all the way through, but I didn’t fumble and I had a hole in my face, though. The sad thing is that it was just flag football, but I left my flags on and cleats and everything, ‘cause it looked cool, and I had blood running all down my jersey. I went to the emergency room like that, and they sewed up my lip.”

Audio / The members of Little Big Town are going to be home for Super Bowl, which is pretty rare, so they're coming up with what they want to chow on during this year's Super Bowl.

LBT (SB foods) OC: (KIMBERLY) …oh good! :10
KIMBERLY: “It’s a chili day.” KAREN: “We need Super Bowl recipes from ‘Oh Gussie!’” PHILLIP: “[My wife] Becky learned to make fried shrimp from Luke Bryan, so I think we’re gonna have some fried shrimps.” KIMBERLY: “Oh good!”

  • ERIC CHURCH SELLS OUT EVERY DATE ON HIS ‘HOLDIN’ MY OWN TOUR.’

Eric Church, who announced on his 2017 Holdin’ My Own Tour he would forego openers and give every ounce of himself amidst two sets and over three hours of music, is merely three weekends in, yet has entertained more than 125,000 fans on just nine stops thus far. From the Midwest where the Star Tribune, likened the “marathon concert” to Bruce Springsteen’s to the Northeast, where Rolling Stone said Church played an “expertly crafted show, largely due to the versatility of Church’s band,” the “Nashville Maverick” (Star Tribune) has drawn fans from around the country to rock with him on his 38-song journey.

This weekend, the Chief hit Philadelphia, New York and Boston, starting at the Wells Fargo Center, where CBS Philly said he showed an “example of the shredding power of Eric Church and his band – grinding guitar power with a twang and the soaring spectacle of arena rock.” Consistent with his undaunted disposition, Church took 13,300 fans through old and new songs, playing most of the hits in his arsenal.

With more than 15,800 fans packing New York’s Barclays Center on Friday, the man Rolling Stone says has, “no nonsense standards,” delivered raw moments at times, letting “the music do the talking, and it sure did scream at the top of its lungs” (AXS). The show surpassed the crowd attendance of his 2014 famed headlining return to Madison Square Garden and gave fans “moments that left the crowd breathless, as each song melted into the next” (AXS). Two sets and 35 songs wasn’t quite enough for Church or his legion of fans however as after playing “Springsteen,” Church sauntered back to the stage with just his Hummingbird guitar and a devilish grin on his face and asked, “Are you tired?” provoking the crowd before returning, “Because I’m not.” And with a singular spotlight, he began playing the tour-title track, “Holdin’ My Own,” followed by an encore of “Sinners Like Me,” and finally “Those I’ve Loved,” reminding the truest of fans who had stayed till the end of the three-plus-hour set that he was “just a country boy with a guitar / Lookin’ back down this old road I’ve been travelin’ on.”

Ending the weekend on a high note, Church brought his packed show to Boston’s TD Garden on Saturday playing to nearly 17,000 fans to cap off his third sold-out weekend on the road in 2017.

The Holdin’ My Own Tour will cross North America throughout the year. Find tour dates and purchase tickets here.
