  • CHRISTMAS 2015: Clare Dunn

Clare Dunn usually heads home to southeast Colorado for Christmas to celebrate with her parents and sister. When she has time to watch a Christmas classic, it’s usually either White Christmas or Christmas Vacation. When she and her family sit down for Christmas dinner, it’s not your usual turkey or ham. “I’m a steak girl, so I always talk my parents into grilling steak at Christmas,” she laughs. “So, that’s usually my favorite thing about Christmas, food-wise.”

  • CHRISTMAS 2015: Eric Church

Eric Church and his family have a long history of Christmas traditions, but one of his favorites was their Christmas breakfast.

“My grandmother, when she was alive, would always come over, and every year she would bring this Christmas story, and some of them were gut-wrenching. I’m not going to lie to you. They were just heart tugging stories about people who had had…about a Christmas miracle, who had something happen to them; something magical for Christmas that had turned life around…whether it was a homeless person, or just anything,” says Eric. “She would always look all year long and find this story, and then we would have breakfast and she would read it, and it was just our family and we’ve carried that on. My mom does that now and she’s kind of taken it and she finds the story, and that’s something I’m going to do with my family. And Katherine and I have talked about it. It’ll be her turn to find that, and we have a big Christmas breakfast and we sit around and we share that. It’s just a neat thing, family-wise, to have that and to always wonder what that story is going to be and what it’s going to be about, and sometimes they’re brutal. I mean it can be hard, you know. You get up on Christmas morning and you’re in a good mood and they’re just gut-wrenching, you know, but it’s fun to put things in perspective, and it makes you think about people that aren’t as fortunate.”

Christmas for the North Carolina native’s fans came early last month when he surprised them with a brand new album and single – both titled “Mr. Misunderstood.” The song is currently sitting in the Top 20 on the country charts.

Audio / Eric Church talks about his favorite holiday, Christmas, and the one tradition he’ll carry over into his immediate family, which includes wife, Katherine, their sons, Boone and Hawk.

  • CHRISTMAS 2015: Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson is the patriarch of a family of five, including his wife Denise and his three daughters Mattie, Ali and Dani. Even though his daughters are grown, his family still stick to their Christmas traditions.

“Christmas is pretty traditional. We don’t let anybody open any presents until Christmas morning,” says Alan. “We don’t let them get up on their own and take off, you know, everybody has to wait and kind of get situated, and maybe have a cup of coffee, and then we start all of the regular Christmas morning activities, opening presents, taking pictures and video. We have music going, you know, I try to keep Christmas music going in the background. I like to turn that on before I let them come down to the tree and everything.”

Alan has partnered with Ply Gem Industries as the ambassador for their “Home for Good Project” to build more than 300 homes across the U.S. with Habitat for Humanity. As ambassador, Alan will help raise awareness through his fan base, social media following and support in a local Builders Blitz event in Nashville, scheduled to coincide with the 2016 CMA Music Festival in June 2016.

We have the same pretty much turkey, dressing, all the same kind of things. Sometimes we have family members in Tennessee, and sometimes just us or friends, and we always go home to Georgia prior to that, so pretty standard, lovely Christmas.”

  • CHRISTMAS 2015: Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves has a couple of favorite Christmas traditions that her family does every year.

“My grandpa has a scavenger hunt puzzle that he does every year. Even though I’m like too old for the puzzle, he’s like, ‘You’re still gonna do it.’ So, every year we do that, and it’s funny ‘cause sometimes you’ll find your present in the bathroom or in a tree or out behind the shed,” says Kacey. “He does a little trail of like either corn or a string to it. It’s very imaginative, and it’s something I look forward to every year.”

Another one of her beloved traditions is the Christmas stocking. “They’re kinda my favorite, ‘cause it’s like all the little goodies in there just are fun.”

Kacey has an idea for a great Christmas present for the women in your life – a pair of cowboy boots from her own line. She partnered with the classic cowboy boot maker Lucchese for a four-piece collection.

  • CHRISTMAS 2015: Little Big Town

The members of Little Big Town have several traditions at Christmas. One includes Christmas pajamas; others include potato candy, Charlie Brown and Elvis.

“My favorite holiday tradition is, it’s happened very year that I can remember that I’ve been alive. We would go over to my grandmother’s house and have Christmas over there, and everybody would come home to Mama and Daddy’s house. We’d sit down and Mama hands out everybody a gift, and we act like we don’t what it is, but we do ’cause it’s always Christmas pajamas,” says Kimberly Schlapman. “So, everybody opens their Christmas pajamas and goes and puts ’em on, and we come back to the living room and we sit around Daddy and he reads The Christmas Story. And we tuck ourselves in until Santa comes.”

“Christmases at our house usually included making candy with my mother and my grandmother,” says Karen Fairchild. “We did everything from potato candy to chocolate dipped peanut butter and fudge. My mom’s fudge recipe is amazing.”

Little Big Town, who are heading up the country charts with “Pain Killer,” are up for four Grammy nominations, including all-genre Song of the Year for “Girl Crush,” as well as Best Country Album, Best Country Song and Best Country Duo or Group. The 2016 Grammy Awards air February 15th at 8pm ET on CBS.

  • KIP MOORE’S ‘WILD ONES’ ALBUM LANDS ON SEVERAL BEST OF LISTS.

Kip Moore spent the last three years touring non-stop and writing for the follow up to his debut album which spawned three No. one hits and multi-PLATINUM sales.  What resulted is “the year’s most honest album” (Rolling Stone), with WILD ONES garnering praise on “Best Of” lists by Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Sounds Likes Nashville and Brooklyn Magazine. Critics continue to loudly roar in appraisal of Moore’s sophomore offering while his unwavering fans voted the album as Taste Of Country’s “Best Album Of 2015.”
“Tip[s] his signature ball cap to traditional country, but as a whole it’s bigger and blessedly, Wild Ones is louder.” – Entertainment Weekly
“With raspy, echoing vocals and songs … Moore pays homage to the troublemaking days that built him” – Paste
“One heck of an album… set to produce hit after hit after hit” – Huffington Post
“An impressively singular release from Music Row…unlike anything else in country music at the moment, and it pulses with energy and strong rock melodies.” – The Guardian
[Moore] “sprinkles a little late-night Bonnaroo magic into his stadium-sized sing-alongs and forges a sound that’s made to be witnessed live” – VICE
“Moore avoids the mold of the Nashville machine” – Village Voice
Assembling a WILD ONES takeover Moore’s profile sky-rocketed this year with an onslaught of national TV performances including Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock and ACM Presents: Superstar Duets.  In 2016, fans will also be given an insight into never-before-heard stories behind Moore’s biggest hits and stripped down versions of songs taken from his new album when Moore’s episode of Front and Center, celebrating the CMA Songwriters Series airs on Public Television beginning 1/25.
Having built his career from the stage up with Washington Post heralding Moore “is a natural when he’s on stage,” he kicked off 2015 stunning crowds during his first stint in Europe. Moore then continued to wow crowds across the U.S throughout the summer on tour with Dierks Bentley as well as playing major festivals including New York City’s first-ever country music festival FarmBorough where Moore’s performance was spotlighted by both Village Voice and Rolling Stone in their “Best Of” reviews. This fall Moore undertook a stream of sold-out dates on his headlining WILD ONES TOUR that night after night saw fans singing along to every track, radio single or not.
Moore also looked to give back in the face of a wildly successful year, launching his first charitable initiative known as the “Comeback Kid Skatepark Project.” Phase one of the project oversaw the construction of a series of skateparks in Nashville, TN; Boston, MA; San Marcos, TX; and Annapolis, MD to benefit communities and “comeback kids.”  The project stemmed from Moore’s desire to provide an alternative outlet for youth to engage in healthy habits and physical activities like skateboarding while the inspiration for the name of the project came from “Comeback Kid,” a personal anthem from Moore’s sophomore album.
As Moore looks to a New Year there are no signs of slowing down yet.  Fans will be able to experience Moore’s album that Country Weekly declares “matches the energy of his live show” for themselves as Moore recently announced the second leg of his headlining WILD ONES TOUR that will continue across the U.S and Canada due to fan demand.  For more information and updates, visit www.kipmoore.net
