• DAVID NAIL ANNOUNCES HIS ‘I’M A FIRE’ TOUR. (VIDEO, PRESS RELEASE)

Nashville, TN – This morning Rolling Stone Country announced MCA Recording and GRAMMY-nominated artist David Nail’s upcoming Fall tour titled the I’m A Fire Tour. The I’m A Fire Tour, aptly named after the Missouri native’s third studio album released earlier this year, will take the singer/songwriter to 20+ cities including New York, Boston, Denver, New Orleans and Cleveland. Tickets for the I’m A Fire Tour go on sale August 1. Visit Nail’s website for more details on points of purchase. Opening for the I’m A Fire Tour is Show Dog-Universal Music country duo Native Run.

No stranger to the road, Nail has toured non-stop for the past year. In the fall of 2013 Nail took to the road on an extensive 30+ city headlining tour to try out his new songs that would eventually make up his 2014 album
I’m A Fire. Upon the release of I’m A Fire in March; Nail went back out with his own headlining dates of 15+ cities with additional shows with Darius Rucker (True Believers Tour) and Lady Antebellum (Take Me Downtown Tour).

“It’s so much fun to open up for big acts and know that there’s going to be 5, 10, or even 15,000 people out there when you play, but it’s always difficult to only play for 35 minutes,” Nail tells Rolling Stone Country. “I’ve always felt like we benefit so much more when we can really lay back and play an entire 75 to 90 minute show. We can show the range of the past three records.”

  • LUKE BRYAN IS FEELING THE HEAT. (AUDIO)

No matter what part of the country you’re in, there’s no denying that summer is in full swing…complete with heat, haze and humidity. But that’s no problem for Luke Bryan (though some may argue he generates plenty of heat on his own). He’s learned that performing outdoors at this time of year can take a toll, and you have to do what’s necessary to deal with it. “You just have to hydrate onstage and be mindful,” he says, adding, “In that scenario, I worry about the fans. They’re out there drinking beer all day, and you just worry about their safety and them being hydrated.” That said, Luke’s also the first person to urge everyone to have a good time, too. “I love gettin’ out there and sweating and working,” he tells us. “I grew up in South Georgia working in the heat, and I love getting out there and flushing all the old beer from last night out.””

Luke’s That’s My Kind of Night Tour hits Atlanta for a two-night stand this weekend, before heading to the Northeast for the first couple weeks of August.

AUDIO: Luke Bryan says a sunny, summer day can make for a great concert experience – you just have to plan accordingly!

Luke Bryan (summer heat) OC: …being hydrated. :40
“Well, with playing, you know, really, really hot amphitheaters, you just have to try to remember throughout the day what you’re fixin’ to have to get up there and do. And, I mean, for me – I love gettin’ out there and sweating and working and…I mean, I grew up in South Georgia working in the heat, and I love getting out there and flushing all the old, you know, beer from last night out. So it’s fun for me, but you know you do have to be really careful. You just have to hydrate onstage and be mindful. You know, in that scenario, I worry about the fans ‘cause, you know, really, they’re out there drinking beer all day, and, you know, you just worry about their safety and them being hydrated.”

  • DIERKS BENTLEY GIVES AN UPDATE ON KNOX-VILLE. (AUDIO)

Time sure flies – can you believe it’s already been almost 10 months since Dierks Bentley and his wife, Cassidy, welcomed their third child, son Knox? Yep – he’ll be a year-old in October! “He’s really happy,” Dierks tells us. “He’s ready to engage.” Knox is apparently very intrigued by his sisters, Evie and Jordan, too. “He’s flopping around and just wants to be hanging out with the girls and…you can tell he’s going to be active.”

Dad Dierks is pretty active right now, too. He’s in the top 10 with his latest hit, “Drunk on a Plane”…and criss-crossing the country with his Riser tour, which is on the West Coast through the end of July, then heads for the Northeast in August.

“Knox – he’s great. He’s just a little dude. Reminds me a lot of the girls at that age. He’s really happy. I mean, I can get him to smile at any moment that I want him to. He’s just…he’s ready to engage. He’s like, you know, flopping around and just wants to be hanging out with the girls and…you can tell he’s going to be active.”

  • BILLY CURRINGTON’S DREAM COMES TRUE WITH LATEST SINGLE. (AUDIO)

Billy Currington has had quite a few dreams come true since he began his musical journey a number of years ago. One recent hope was that his current single, “We Are Tonight,” would go over really well live, and he says the song is going over better than he thought.

“‘We Are Tonight’ is going over so good live. It’s amazing. It’s everything I envisioned. When I heard the song, I was like, ‘Now there is an anthem for the live show.’ As I grew to know the song better and better, and of course when I finally recorded it, I just started envisioning everybody chanting the ‘We Are Tonight,’ and I was always hoping and praying that this was sure going to be a single,” says Billy. “People are singing it as loud as they can, probably louder than any song that I have right now. I don’t know if it’s just ‘cause it’s current and they’re hearing it a lot, but, boy, they’re singing it loud. So, the dream came true with the song ‘We Are Tonight.’”

“We Are Tonight” is poised to take over the top spot in the coming weeks.

He’s taking his songs – and his dreams – on the road. Next stop is Thursday (July 24th) in Noblesville, Indiana with Lady Antebellum.

So, I’m so thankful it was, because now when we’re playing it, I really cannot wait to get to that part of the show – it’s pretty late in the show that we play the song, but it makes for a big deal for us. I mean, people are singing it as loud as they can, probably louder than any song that I have right now. I don’t know if it’s just ‘cause it’s current and they’re hearing it a lot, but, boy, they’re singing it loud. So, the dream came true with the song ‘We Are Tonight.’”

  • DAVID NAIL LEARNED TO HAVE THOUGHT-PROVOKING TITLES FOR HIS ALBUMS. (AUDIO)

These days, David Nail is as likely to be making music as he is to be listening to it…but when he was a kid, he was like a lot of us – waiting and watching for new music to arrive in stores so that he could make a purchase and take it home to enjoy. “We only had one record store, and that was WalMart,” the Missouri native recalls. “That was the only place you could get music where I grew up.”

At the time, David didn’t realize it, but his love of music was paving the way for his career as a recording artist. When new music appeared on the shelves, he wasn’t afraid to make a purchase even if he wasn’t necessarily familiar with the artist. “I bought so many CDs – or tapes at the time – just because there was nothing else to buy!” he admits. “That’s where I kind of got [that] the concept of a title became so important. And the packaging of the album, because I bought so many records based on that.”

The concept of an important or interesting title has worked well for David, since all of his album titles grab your attention, such as 2007’s I’m About to Come Alive; 2011’s The Sound of a Million Dreams and 2014’s I’m a Fire.

David’s latest, I’m A Fire, features his current single, “Kiss You Tonight,” as well as his recent No. 1 hit, “Whatever She’s Got.”

AUDIO: David Nail recalls being a music lover as a kid…and buying whatever country albums he could afford and get his hands on!

David Nail (buying music as a kid in MO) OC: …based on that. :36
“We only had one record store, and that was WalMart. That was the only place you could get music where I grew up. I didn’t know that records came out on Tuesday. I just assumed when someone wanted to release a record, they just – if it was a Thursday, it came out on Thursday. So I would go to WalMart every day, waiting for new music. And I bought so many CDs – or tapes at the time – just because there was nothing else to buy! So I was like, ‘Hey, I don’t really know this person or their music, but it’s in the country aisle and the CD looks pretty cool.’ There’s where I kind of got [that] the concept of a title became so important. And just the packaging of the album, because I bought so many records based on that.”

  • KEITH URBAN FOLLOWS IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SOME GREAT GUITAR PLAYERS. (AUDIO)

We all know that Keith Urban knows how to handle a guitar…better than many, in fact. And his skill and success has no doubt helped inspire a new crop music talented axe-men, like Hunter Hayes and Frankie Ballard. But Keith’s the first to point out that he (and they) owe a huge debt to the guitar greats that inspired him – people like Chet Atkins, Glen Campbell and Jerry Reed. “We’re all part of the beautiful, long line of extraordinary guitar players,” he notes. “Steve Earle said it – it’s ‘Guitar Town.’ You really have to lift your game when you come to Nashville.” Though it may seem hard to believe after watching and hearing him play, Keith admits that he’s worked at his skills as a player – “No matter how good you think you are, you land in town and go, ‘Oooooh…I’ve got some work to do!’ That was definitely the case with me.”

Check out Keith’s trademark guitar work – along with his vocals and songwriting skills – on his latest hit, “Somewhere In My Car” from the album, Fuse. You can also catch his amazing guitar licks on the road, as he makes his way around the country on his Raise ‘Em Up Tour.

No matter how good you think you are, you land in town and go, ‘Oooooh. I’ve got some work to do!’ That was definitely the case with me. I couldn’t – well, I could believe what they were like, because I grew up listening to them all. I mean from Chet [Atkins] to Glen Campbell and…gosh – so many of them – Jerry Reed and the list goes on and on. Great, great, great pickers. And, I mean, Hunter [Hayes] and Frankie [Ballard] are walking the same road we’re all on.”

  • SAM HUNT’S GIFTS WERE A NATURAL PROGRESSION. (AUDIO)

This summer, people are getting to know Sam Hunt thanks to the success of his debut hit, “Leave the Night On”…but the fact is, you likely already know Sam from his songwriting. Sam has co-written some of the biggest hits of the last couple of years, including Keith Urban’s “Cop Car,” Billy Currington’s latest, “We Are Tonight” and Kenny Chesney’s “Come Over.” The Georgia native tells us his songwriting began after he bought and began teaching himself how to play guitar. “I started learning a few chords…learned a few country songs that I’d grown up listening to, and…then from there learned a few more chords,” Sam recalls. “From there, the progression simply continued – [I] expanded the songs that I knew how to play, and started singing. And then, as I learned a few songs and learned a few chords, from there I started writing.”

These days, you can find Sam headed for the Top 10…singing his own song, which he co-wrote.

“Well, I got a guitar and immediately went home and learned – started learning – a few chords. [I] took that little bit of knowledge of the guitar that I had and went and learned, you know, a few country songs that I’d grown up listening to, and…then from there learned a few more chords…and sort of expanded the songs that I knew how to play, and…started singing. And then, as I learned a few songs and learned a few chords, from there I started writing.”
