  • JENNIFER NETTLE’S ‘THAT GIRL’ AS A MOM. (AUDIO)

It’s been just a little over a year since Jennifer Nettles became a mom with the arrival of son Magnus (in December 2012). So…with a year of experience under her belt…what’s Jennifer’s take on motherhood? “It is like the friggin’ Peace Corps, man – the toughest job you will ever love!” she says with a smile and a hearty laugh. “It is the most challenging…and it is the most rewarding. They go hand-in-hand, and it is both,” she explains. Jennifer’s biggest challenge? Keeping up her energy and getting enough sleep. But she wouldn’t change anything for the world. “I love it,” she says emphatically. “There is no part of your life that isn’t touched by it.”

Jennifer’s new album, That Girl, is spending a second week at the top of the country chart. Her new single from the project is called “Me Without You.”

“(Laughs) Having a baby is the hardest damn thing I have ever done, okay!? Let’s be honest! It is like the friggin’ Peace Corps, man – the toughest job you will ever love! I mean, it is the most challenging…and it is the most rewarding. They go hand-in-hand, and it is both. I love it. I was the tired-est that I’ve ever been. I thought, ‘Ah, I’ve been tired before! I’ve been on tour; you don’t sleep on the bus.’ But no, no, no, no. I had no idea. And…and suddenly, there is no part of your life that isn’t touched by it.”

  • DAVID NAIL IS READY TO HIT THE ROAD WITH DARIUS RUCKER AND ELI YOUNG BAND. (AUDIO)

David Nail is gearing up to hit the road on Darius Rucker’s True Believers Tour at the end of the month, and there’s a pretty interesting connection David has to the headliner. In school, David performed Hootie and the Blowfish’s “Let Her Cry.” So, being a big fan of the band, he’s a bit overwhelmed to now be touring with Darius.

“It’s just surreal, you know. If you’d have told me then, arguably the biggest band in the world at the time, if you’d have told me that 16, 17 years later, I’d be out on the road together, that he’d ask me to come out on the road with him, I’d have said, ‘Man you’re crazy,’ just for the simple fact that he’s had a career that’s lasted this long,” says David. “And that’s a testament that somebody who’s really wanted it and worked really hard and found ways to reinvent himself, and it’s really inspiring, to be quite honest.”

The Missouri native says he knows he’ll have fun with Darius and Eli Young Band on the road, but he is a bit worried. “I’ve heard stories about Darius. I know Eli Young Band – I’ve hung out with them, so I know it’s definitely going to be a fun time, and hopefully, I won’t pick up on any more bad habits then I already have.”

    About Kimberly:
For the past fourteen years, Kimberly Schlapman has brightened stages worldwide as a member of country foursome Little Big Town. This spring, she’ll fulfill a lifelong dream with the third season airing of Kimberly’s Simply Southern, a half-hour cooking show on GAC. Kimberly grew up in the northern foothills of Georgia where cooking was an enormous part of Kimberly’s upbringing. She calls both of her grandmothers “incredible” cooks but it was her mother who taught her not just how to cook, but how to take care of people with food. In 1987, Kimberly left home to attend Samford University, where she met fellow vocalist Karen Fairchild. After graduation, both women moved to Nashville, which is where the idea for Little Big Town was born. The addition of Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet filled out their signature harmonic sound and five albums later; they’re still going strong. Kimberly currently lives in Nashville with husband Stephen and daughter Daisy Pearl.
