  • KEITH URBAN READY TO HIT RADIO WITH ‘WE WERE US.’ (AUDIO)

Keith Urban is releasing the follow-up single to his recent two-week No. 1 single, “Little Bit of Everything.” He’s decided on “We Were Us,” a duet with Miranda Lambert, as his new single, which will be hitting radio later today (Monday). “She’s just the real deal. I just love her. I love her artistry. Her voice is awesome,” says Keith. “She would get up and play with us when we were touring with her, and I just felt like our voices went together really well.”

“We Were Us” is from Keith’s new album, Fuse, due in stores tomorrow (Tuesday).

Keith Urban (We Were Us-Miranda) 1 OC: …backing vocalist. :46
“Miranda, of course, she opened for a us a lot of years ago. She’s just the real deal. I just love her. I love her artistry. Her voice is awesome. She would get up and play with us when we were touring with her, and I just felt like our voices went together really well. So, it was another person that I always had in the back of my mind and was hoping I could find a song for us one day. The song called ‘We Were Us’ came along and it’s actually written as a duet, but the girl sings first, so I thought ‘Let’s do it! Let’s call Miranda up.’ She liked the song, came and sang it, and various people were going ‘Well you can’t have her singing first!’ Why not? It sounds fine! Again, it was always just about how the song works best. The song just works best that way. It’s a duet. She’s not a backing vocalist.”

AUDIO: George Strait has to pick and choose which songs he’ll perform live, and it’s not the easiest job in the world for him.

George Strait (set list) OC: …changing anyway. :33
“When you’re putting the song list together for a live show, it gets a little tough, because you don’t want to leave things out that you know people want to hear, but unfortunately, you don’t have time to do them all and it’s just one of those things. And so you just try to pick the best stuff that you can. And of course, I’ll cut one or two or three or so from a show for a year or two, and then it seems we always come back to them eventually and throw them back in the mix. It’s just a constant thing you’ve got to keep changing anyway.”

Keith Urban (songs on Fuse) OC: …come together. :31
“I cut about 24 song, 25 songs, and certain ones just kept hitting me a certain way where I felt very strong about them as songs, and I felt strong about them for their energy, for they were saying, even sort of escape of songs that just made me feel good, like good thing sort of songs that are just fun. They’re unabashed fun. They aren’t meant to be anything else than just that. They all had merit and so, slowly, this particular group of 16 songs, for me, started to really come together.”

  • SCOTTY McCREERY KICKS OFF SIX-CITY MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TOUR TO PROMOTE YOUTH BASEBALL. (PRESS RELEASE)

NASHVILLE, TN–As platinum-selling country artist Scotty McCreery prepares for the much-anticipated release of his sophomore album, See You Tonight, he is taking time out of his busy schedule to support youth baseball with a six-city Major League Baseball ballpark tour.

In addition, the new video for his current single, “See You Tonight,” simultaneously premieres today at www.PopCrush.com and www.TasteofCountry.com

At the baseball park tour’s culmination, McCreery will have donated $50,000 to youth baseball programs, including Major League Baseball’s RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) program, this year.

“I learned some of my greatest lessons playing sports and being a team member,” McCreery says. “Sports teach you so many life lessons about self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, setting goals, and being fit. It’s awesome that Major League Baseball provides opportunities for kids who might not have a chance to play baseball and softball elsewhere. I’m proud to provide assistance to this program.”

McCreery’s baseball park tour began on Thursday, Aug. 29, at the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, where he presented a personal $5,000 check to a Tampa youth baseball organization before the game. In addition, he threw out the first pitch and sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

Referring to McCreery’s donation to the Rays Baseball Foundation, the Tampa Bay Rays tweeted, “Great job by @ScottyMcCreery with today’s first pitch (he throws gas)–and thank you to him for his donation to RBF!”

At each game, McCreery will invite local radio winners to be his guest as he throws out the first pitch, provides CDs for lucky-row giveaways, sings as part of the seventh-inning stretch, and serves a guest broadcaster and/or participates in other various activities that day. Fans can follow the activities at every game in real time by following McCreery on Twitter at @scottymccreery.

Founded in 1989, the RBI youth outreach program is designed to increase participation in baseball and softball with underserved and diverse youth, as well as encourage academic achievement and teach important life lessons. The program has served more than 1 million young people, including more than 220,000 baseball and softball players in 2013.

Baseball has played an important part in McCreery’s life, so he is excited to have the opportunity to give back to the game that has given him so much. Indeed, it was baseball that first provided him with the confidence to perform in public. He started pitching at an early age, following in the footsteps of his father, who was also a baseball pitcher. As a pitcher for Garner Magnet High School in Garner, N.C., all eyes were on him, and that’s where he learned to be focused and handle pressure. Fortunately, all of that training paid off, as evidenced by his success in high school.  During McCreery’s senior year, he continued to pitch while spending weekends opening for Brad Paisley’s Virtual Reality Tour. McCreery finished that season with a 0 .88 ERA while striking out more than 40 batters.

Another thrill was when he sang the national anthem at the 2011 World Series Game One in St. Louis.

McCreery’s MLB tour is as follows:

Thursday, Aug. 29:  Tampa Bay Rays v. Seattle Mariners, at Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Sunday, Sept. 8: San Diego Padres v.  Colorado Rockies, at PETCO Park, San Diego

Thursday, Sept. 12: Philadelphia Phillies v. San Diego Padres, at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia

Sunday, Sept. 15: Chicago White Sox v. Cleveland Indians, at Comiskey Park/U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago

Sunday, Sept. 22: Washington Nationals v. Miami Marlins, at Nationals Park, Washington, D.C.

Friday, Sept. 27: Atlanta Braves v. Philadelphia Phillies, at Turner Field/State Mutual Stadium, Atlanta

Earning both a platinum and gold album before turning 20, Scotty McCreery is poised to become country’s newest superstar. He has sold an impressive 1.6 million albums in less than two years.

With more than 150 live shows under his belt across the U.S., Canada and the Philippines, McCreery has become a fan favorite appealing to all ages.  His first headlining tour has been so successful—with numerous sell-outs and additional shows added to meet demand–that a fall 2013 run has been announced.

His debut album, Clear As Day, was the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. Indeed, he became the youngest man in history to have his first album debut atop the all-genre Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

Clear As Day was certified platinum for sales of one million in just 13 weeks, and the first two singles from that album were each certified gold. In 2012, his Christmas album was also certified gold. He was named Top New Artist by Billboard and won best new artist awards at the Academy of Country Music Awards, the American Country Awards, and the CMT Awards.

He co-wrote his current single, “See You Tonight,” which is the title track to his sophomore album that will be released Oct. 15.

Fans can pre-order the upcoming album, See You Tonight, at www.scottymccreery.com, which also offers opportunities for fan club memberships, autographed guitars and limited edition T-shirts. The pre-sale offer was available Tuesday night, and McCreery has agreed to sign all CDs ordered in the first 48 hours of the offer.
