• DIERKS BENTLEY READY TO OPEN WHISKEY ROW. (AUDIO)

Dierks Bentley is preparing to open his bar, Whiskey Row, in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona on Thursday (Fourth of July). The bar features a 400 square foot stage that hangs from the ceiling directly above the bar, as well as iPhone and USB charging stations and a massive 24-foot TV located on the back wall. One of Dierks’ favorite features is every booth will have three different beer taps and a liquor tap. “It’s gonna have some cool features going on,” says Dierks. “My favorite is the table taps where you can have the waitress or waiter swipe your credit card on your table, and there’s three taps of beer at your table, so you can sit at your own table, pour your own drinks and watch your money go down on this little thing.”

“Bars are something I know really well,” he adds. “I spend a lot of time in them, feel really comfortable there, so it’s about time I had my own, I think.”

According to the bar’s official website, DierksWhiskeyRow.com, the venue will serve a familiar American Gastropub Fare cuisine with a modern twist. All menu items will be made from scratch in house, using organic meats and locally farmed produce. Specialty dishes to include a fried pickle burger with cajun beer battered pickles, house made red onion jam topped with a blue cheese smothered bun.

Jon Pardi will perform during Whiskey Row’s grand opening on the Fourth of July.

Dierks is making his way up the country charts with his latest single, “Bourbon in Kentucky,” the first release from his forthcoming album, Riser, due this fall.

  • DIERKS BENTLEY GOES FREE-FALLING DURING THE VIDEO FOR ‘BOURBON IN KENTUCKY.’ (AUDIO)

You will see Dierks Bentley in a muvh different light once the video for his latest single, “Bourbon in Kentucky” is released. He says it’s “definitely the most unique, craziest video” he’s ever done, which could be attributed to the choice of video directors – Ryan Pallotta, who has been at the helm of clips by Robin Thicke, Faith Evans, Demi Lovato and Ne-Yo, among others. “There’s falling, there’s flying, I’m suspended by cables that really hurt,” says Dierks. While he didn’t get injured in the making of the clip, he probably had to throw out a pair of shoes that caught on fire during one scene. It didn’t phase him in the least, since his hobbies often include flying planes, playing hockey and riding motorcycles.

Dierks, with his smoldering good looks and logging time on several of Country Music’s Sexiest Men lists, said don’t expect him to look pretty in the video. “It’s not gonna be a real cheery video, I don’t think [LAUGHS]. But I don’t really want a cheery video at this point…There was no pretty close up shots of me singing the song, because it’s hard to sing the song and look pretty.”

“Bourbon in Kentucky” is the first single from his forthcoming album, Riser, due this fall. The video should hit the airwaves in the coming weeks.

Dierks Bentley (Bourbon in KY video) OC: …to look like. :52
“This is definitely the most unique, craziest video I’ve ever done. Every shot I was in, and our director, again, going with the process of trying new things and just having fun — we worked with a guy I don’t think he’s done anything in country before, but I really liked talking to him on the phone and I thought he had a great idea. He had this crazy idea of me kind of free falling into these different kind of situations and fire and a car filling up with bourbon while I’m singing inside the car, and this room with bottles exploding around me and stuff coming off the walls. And this girl that’s like a figment of my imagination. She’s there, sometimes she’s not there. It’s not gonna be a real cheery video I don’t think [LAUGHS]. But I don’t really want a cheery video at this point. We’ll see. There was no pretty close up shots of me singing the song, because it’s hard to sing the song and look pretty. It’s a very intense vocal song, so I have no idea what [the video] going to look like.”

  • SCOTTY McCREERY PERFORMS AT SADIE ROBERTSON’S SWEET 16 BIRTHDAY PARTY. (PHOTOS)

NASHVILLE,TN—Platinum-selling singer/songwriter Scotty McCreery took a break from his first headlining tour to perform at the Sweet 16 birthday party for Sadie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame.

After the party, Sadie tweeted, “This boy made my birthday the best day of my life! So thankful that he came down for my party!”

Before the party in West Monroe, La., Scotty also got stuck in the mud in a truck with John Luke Robertson, Sadie’s brother, and enjoyed the legendary home cooking of Kay Robertson.

“The first time I met Sadie and John Luke was at the Opry in Nashville,” says Scotty, referring to his recent performance at the Grand Ole Opry during CMA Music Fest. “I saw her tweet that said she was in Nashville, so I said, ‘Hey, you want to come to the Opry?’ I’ve watched the show since season one and we had exchanged tweets before.”

They talked about her upcoming birthday during their Opry visit, and a few phone calls later, he was confirmed to perform at the “Redneck Red Carpet” party held under a tent at a vineyard on June 17. “I thought it was going to be a surprise at first, but then I figured out that she knew, so Sadie and I talked about what kind of songs she wanted me to sing,” he says.

“Then I texted her before the party and asked if she had any song requests and she said as long as I played ‘See You Tonight’ that she would be happy because that is one of her favorites right now, which is really cool. We kept it country. Willie and John Luke came onstage and we sang ‘Man of Constant Sorrow.’ We had a good ol’ time!”

The day before the party, Scotty and four friends rode in John Luke’s Jeep, which got stuck in the mud. “He said that he had taken it mudding plenty of times and had never got it stuck before,” Scotty says. “After that, we did more mudding with four-wheelers. That is when we got really muddy. I drove a big old tractor out there and we had a lot of fun on the land. It was just us and the mud, pretty much.”

Scotty and his band and friends met many of the Robertsons for dinner that night at the home of Kay and Phil Robertson.  “That fried shrimp was about as good of a fried shrimp as I have ever had, and her banana pudding was incredible too.”

“I was blown away by their hospitality,” he says. “(Sadie’s parents) Korie and Willie said, ‘Y’all stay at our house,’ so we stayed with them for the night. They are just great folks.

“I like the fact that they are who they say they are; they are who they look they are on the TV show. They are good, normal folks who like to have fun. It’s really cool for me being so young and being in the public eye to have friends like John Luke and Sadie who are in the same boat. I am in an adult business and always around adults, so it’s nice to have friends who are in the spotlight and around my same age.”

Scotty is currently recording his second studio album, which is set for release later this year. The project’s debut single, “See You Tonight,” is currently climbing the country charts.

His debut album, Clear As Day, was certified platinum in only three months, making him the best-selling country solo artist of 2011. He became the youngest man in history to have his first album debut at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The album’s first two singles were certified gold.  He released a Christmas album last year that was certified gold, and he won best new artist awards at the Academy of Country Music Awards and the CMT Awards. He was named top new artist by Billboard.

The party is featured in the new issue of Us magazine, on newsstands now.

  • FOURTH OF JULY: Billy, Darius, David, Dierks, Drake, Church, Josh, Keith, Lady A, LBT, Luke, Scotty

Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776, declaring independence from Great Britain. The holiday is commonly associated with fireworks displays, parades, barbecues and concerts. Some of your favorite country stars take time to remember their Fourth of July traditions, memories and what the holiday really means to them.

“My best memories would be hanging out with my mom, brother and sister on the beach on Tybee Island right off the coast of Savannah, Georgia. We’d go there every year, and we’d light our own fireworks and watch the ones that they had for us. They were the best times, some of the best times of my life.”

“In Kennett, Missuri where I grew up the Fourth of July, it was a race to get your car parked so we could watch the fireworks at the airport. They did them off the golf course. I wasn’t fortunate enough to be a country club kid to watch it from that side of town. You’d be riding through town at 8:00, 9:00 in the morning, you’d see lawn chairs alongside of the road, people getting their spots so you could see them. Even though the town was so small you could sit in your front yard and watch them. That wasn’t good enough. Everybody wanted to see them up close. I can remember doing that as a kid, and as we got older, it became a little easier to get our spot. As a kid, you wanted to get there as quick as possible and be up front, just so you could say you were up front.”

The people, to me, are what America’s all about.”

So, every time I go by there, I walk in and just try not to spend over $200 on fireworks, ‘cause you never know when a good firework is gonna be needed. [chuckles] So, if there’s weddings, I’m gonna sneak around and throw a fireworks show, just because I love fireworks. So, Fourth of July for us, if it wasn’t spent on the lake or spent on the river, we went down to the beach and there were always fireworks involved. It’s one of my favorite, favorite holidays.”

Had a buddy who had a pontoon and we would always get on the pontoon and you go out and you’d tie all the pontoons together and just have a big time. This was before, I was younger then, the adults were having more fun than we were, you know it was just to go swim in the water and shoot off fireworks. Basically, water tailgating is what it was. And then as we got older, same thing…we would just, us younger kids had our own boat and we had as much fun as the adults.”

All the individual families had a lot of competition with each other and tried to outdo each other to try to see who had the biggest and baddest fireworks and all that. [laughs] My daddy, I think, was the smartest one. He just went out and bought maybe $25 worth of fireworks and let everybody else put on the big show, so he saved a lot of money.” [laughs]

It was just a case of keep playing, keep getting better at what you do, and then hopefully, somehow, some way I’ll end up over here. The guy who was managing me at the time, we just planned a trip over here – it was actually for the New Music Seminar in New York. And we came over for that, and then we did a trip down to Nashville, and I shopping my little demo around. I think I humored everybody more than anything else [laughs] with my tragic, ill-fitting demo for the time. So, I left there, but I was just so committed to coming back as quick as I could.”

Kimberly and I met a young girl that, she’s 21 years old and she has a third baby and her husband has served multiple times overseas. She’s raising these children at home, and doing a great job and the best she can, and he’s serving his country. And he’s making a monstrous sacrifice, but so is she and so are those children, and we just can’t take it for granted. I mean, it’s just a huge commitment that they make, and what an honor. We love to be able to sing for them and entertain them and to say thank you whenever we can.” (Kimberly: “Yeah.”)

I was always kind of in charge of driving home from Tennessee and picking up all the fireworks and my nieces and nephews always got excited when I rolled in because they knew I had all the fireworks. But, it was always a great memory, and I miss not getting to do that as much as we used to.”

Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron will host the show.

Scotty McCreery (Fourth of July 2013) OC: …great time. :29
“You know, every July 3rd or July 4th, I’ve always been back home in North Carolina and just kind of always gone to the lake about two minutes from my house, and there are fireworks and the symphony. But this July 4th is gonna be a little more special to me, because I get to [perform] on A Capitol Fourth in Washington, D.C. As a country music singer and as an American, and that’s gonna be huge to me to be in our nation’s capital and performing for the folks out there and just being where it’s all happening. It means a lot to me to be invited to go play that, and I’m gonna take it all in and have a great time.”

“For many, many years in a row, we would be up at the lake for Fourth of July, and having those memories of being on the boat and going tubing and skiing and enjoying being out in the summertime, great weather on the water. But, then for me, Fourth of July was when [husband] Chris [Tyrell] proposed. So, I got proposed to on July 2nd up at the lake, the same lake I grew up going to, and so that’s probably the biggest highlight of Fourth of July to me – getting a rock on my hand.”

I mean, we’ve got songs for the guys, songs for the girls, songs you can go ride dirt roads in, songs you can cry to.
