Sam Hunt unknowingly helped to heighten the awareness of the near-extinction of sea turtles and the efforts of people to preserve the marine wildlife with his latest music video for “Water Under The Bridge.” In the clip, he’s wearing a “Save The Ridley” vintage T-shirt by Sea Turtle, Inc., an organization dedicated to rehabilitating and releasing sea turtles as well as offering educational services and conservation efforts.

Sam wore the shirt because he thought it was “cool,” and didn’t realize the impact it would have on the organization.

“I didn’t necessarily put that shirt on with that specific cause in mind but when I found that shirt in a little shop, I thought it was really cool,” says Sam. “I definitely have a heart for nature and the preservation of nature and all wildlife, and I know turtles have had a problem over the years, especially they come up and lay their eggs on beaches that people like to frequent, and we all think it’s fun to go down and get an up-close look and it’s such a fragile little eco system. I didn’t necessarily have a connection to that specific place, but I just thought it was a cool T-shirt and a meaningful cause that if I was gonna throw on an old T-shirt, it might as well be that one.”

Sam adds, “There are some people who are very passionate about sea turtles and rightly so, and I think they do great work and I hope that the turtles and that magical thing that they do when they come up and have their eggs and cover them up and the little babies know which way to go, most of ‘em anyway. They go back to the ocean. Not all of them survive, but some of ‘em do. It’s a beautiful thing, so hopefully we can preserve that as long as possible.”

The Georgia native continues to hit the road. His next tour stop is in Charleston Navy Yard, South Carolina on September 2^nd, followed by shows in Doswell, Virginia, Canton and Cincinnati, Ohio.
