SAM HUNT IS STILL ROCKIN’ THE BEACH VIBES.

Sam Hunt has been in a super creative mode the first part of this year, thanks in large part to the beach. He and a few of his friends/co-writers recently went down to the beach for a few weeks to write songs, and he said it put him in a great state of mind and he’s kept the vibe by wearing his beachwear everywhere.

“Something switched in my brain when I got down there to the beach,” says Sam. “I rarely write, get up in the morning and write from like nine to midnight, but that’s what I was doing for two weeks straight…I was just so inspired while I was down there. We’d get up and write for a couple of hours, walk to the beach, take a little break for lunch, write for a couple of hours, take another little break. But I found myself at midnight, everybody else would go to bed and I’d still be in there just kind of chipping away, just really inspired. I was in such a great head space down there, I got back home and kind of got back in the routine of things and I could feel it slipping whatever it was that  I tapped into and so I started dressing like I was dressing down at the beach. I wore a bathing suit (board shorts) every day and these like loud button up short sleeve shirts and my little bucket hat that I was wearing. And I started to get it back again, and so it helped, somehow that helped my state of mind. I was just in this summer mood, and it’s helped my songwriting too. I know it’s a strange thing to say your outfit would affect your songwriting, but it kinda has.”

Sam is closing in on the top of the country charts with his latest smash, “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s.”

Audio / Sam Hunt talks about his recent creative streak at the beach, which he's continued now at home.

Sam Hunt (beach vibes) OC: …it kinda has. 1:33
“Something switched in my brain when I got down there to the beach. I was down there for three weeks, (and) it took a couple of days to kind of get into the groove, but once I locked in…you know, I rarely write, get up in the morning and write from like nine to midnight, but that’s what I was doing for two weeks straight. Now, I probably should’ve paced myself. I was there for three weeks. That last week I was just burnt; I was worn out, but I was just so inspired while I was down there. We’d get up and write for a couple of hours, walk to the beach, take a little break for lunch, write for a couple of hours, take another little break. But I found myself at midnight, everybody else would go to bed and I’d still be in there just kind of chipping away, just really inspired.
