ACM Award winner Scotty McCreery visited with this year’s ACM Lifting Lives Camp attendees at the Bluebird Café in Nashville on June 22. During the event, McCreery performed acoustic versions of his hits “See You Tonight,” “Feelin’ It,” and “Water Tower Town.” By request of several of the campers, he also performed a verse and chorus of the Conway Twitty classic “Hello Darlin’” and the chorus of the Garth Brooks hit “The River.” Noticing the wildly enthusiastic crowd liked to join in on the songs, McCreery asked them all to sing “Amazing Grace” with him. This was McCreery’s first time to perform at the legendary Bluebird Café, and he was ecstatic to play on that stage. But he was even more moved by the passionate crowd who chanted his name repeatedly and asked question after question about his career and music. For the audience, it was all above their love of music and McCreery.

“It’s fun to be here and have my first experience [at the Bluebird Cafe] to be with these campers…a memorable day for me,” said McCreery. “I worked with these folks here last year, so when I heard we were doing it again I was thrilled. Awesome crowd and great people that love music, so that’s what it’s all about.”

The ACM Lifting Lives Camp has the dual purpose of studying Williams syndrome while providing music enrichment through performance education. It is a partnership between ACM Lifting Lives and the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence in Development Disabilities. During the week, the campers also spent time with Hunter Hayes, J.T. Hodges, the Swon Brothers, producer/songwriter Ross Copperman, and songwriter Heather Morgan.
