Brothers Osborne (CMA Duo 2018) OC: …awesome family. 1:12
JOHN: “The Duo category can go any which way. I mean, you look at us, comparatively speaking, we’re kind of maybe somewhere in the middle in terms of the numbers and I don’t know (laughs) what it is. I don’t really know why we’re holding these up here and it’s super rad and I’m definitely going to be putting this on my mantle, but you look at somebody like Dan+ Shay and I just love to see good people win and succeed and people that work really hard at what they do and they’re kind to people along the way and they’re immensely talented. I think one of the most amazing pieces of advice I was ever given was to work hard and be nice to people, and I think that’s why we have these. We work really hard and we try to be respectful to everyone around us. Dan + Shay are the same way, and also they have HUGE songs out on the radio too. They actually have a step above us on that, and we just love those guys. They’re very sweet. They’re very supportive. One of the things that I love about the country music genre is that it’s a family and we’re all really, really close. We’re all a bunch of misfits thrown together. We’re all a little different, but we love one another and respect one another. I’m just honored for the both of us to be a part of this awesome family.”

Audio / Backstage at the 2018 CMA Awards, Chris Stapleton says he's always surprised and grateful for recognition of his craft.

Chris Stapleton (CMA 2018) OC: …grateful for it. :30
“These things are always fantastic to win, but when you get nominated or invited to these parties, in my estimation, you’ve already won and you’ve already gotten to be far beyond anything, you know, anybody who’s a musician could ever dream of getting to do, and we get to do that every day, we get to live it every day. As far as thinking about going into anything, I’m always genuinely surprised to win anything, and I’m always grateful for it.”

Audio / Backstage at last year's CMA Awards, Carrie Underwood, who is nominated for Entertainer, Female and Album of the Year, said she was still in shock after winning the Female Artist of the Year.

Carrie Underwood (CMA Female win) OC: …means a lot. :38
“I think I’m still in shock to be honest. When we were making this album, I would be lying if I said I didn’t want awards because I’m a competitive person and I love these. I love these shows. I love the CMAs. I have such respect for this show and this organization, but when you’re making an album, you want it to be better. You want to push yourself as an artist. For me, with all the ups and downs we’ve been through, plus making an album on top of all of that, I mean this one definitely means a lot.”

Audio / Backstage at last year’s CMA Awards, Keith Urban was overwhelmed with his win for Entertainer of the Year, an award he’s been nominated for numerous times, but hasn’t won since 2005.

Keith Urban (Entertainer win 2018) OC: …feeling. :28
“It’s an indescribable feeling to get that tonight, because I love playing, I love entertaining, I love putting on shows. I started playing guitar when I was six, so playing, and I came up playing in the clubs – four hours a night, five hours a night, five nights a week. I wasn’t writing songs. I was just schlepping my gear and playing cover tunes and learning my craft. To get to play three or four hours a night of original material is the most extraordinary feeling.”

Audio / DIERKS BENTLEY TALKS ABOUT GETTING BROTHERS OSBORNE TO TAKE PART IN THE SONG, “BURNING MAN."

Download

Dierks Bentley (Burning Man) OC: …really well. :24
“I’d had this song for about two years. It’s been a song I’ve been holding on for a little while. I just love that song. I could really relate to the lyrics. In the studio, Jedd Hughes put down this great guitar part, and I thought, ‘Man, John would be really cool on that,’ and then, obviously TJ has a, I love his singing. Great voice. I would’ve asked them to be on it regardless, I really would have, but the fact they’re on tour with us just makes it all that sweeter. Those guys are the perfect group to do it with and they definitely took it to a new spot and now we get to sing it every night on stage, so it worked out really well.”
