AUDIO: Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott says they wrote “I Did With You” with specific scenes from The Best of Me in mind.

Lady A (I Did With You) 2 OC: …in their head. :37
“Once we found out, especially that it was kind of going to be the ending credit song, that people – all the women and their husbands or families that come to see the movie are going to be really thinking about what they just watched. It’s like we wanted to put specific things in the song, in the lyric, that will make you go back straight to that scene in your head that you just watched. There’s one line in the first verse of the song about ‘dancing in the headlights,’ you see them do that in the movie and all these different lines that we were really purposeful with, wanting them to relive that in their head.”

AUDIO: Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott is a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks, and she’s thrilled that they are a part of the soundtrack for The Best of Me.

Lady A (Nicholas Sparks fans) OC: …sweet story. :44
“For me personally, I am such a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks as an author and then the movies that have been made from his novels. So, it was really, really special, especially because the leading male role in the movie is James Marsden, who has a really sweet role in The Notebook, which is my personal favorite of Nicholas Sparks’ books, and there’s always it seems like a book of his being turned into a film. And so, it’s such a big machine that we were asked to be a part of, and to be able to write specifically for one thing and to kind of put ourselves in the story, because we really try to write from our own personal experience, was really cool. It’s a really special, sweet story.”

Thompson Square (The Best of Me) 1 OC: (Shawna) …too long ago. :14
KEIFER: “Well, we actually got involved with the soundtrack – our manager passed the song along and told us about the opportunity, and we listened to the song and once we heard it, we loved it.” SHAWNA: “As soon as I heard it was for The Best of Me, I totally freaked out because I had just read the book not too long ago.”

Thompson Square talks about Nicholas Sparks and how he’s a master of romance.

Thompson Square (The Best of Me) 3 OC: …to be a part of it. :38
KEIFER: “Well, I have to admit as a guy, I am a fan of The Notebook. I may or may not have shed a tear or two on that one.” SHAWNA: “I just feel like Nicholas Sparks is brilliant when it comes to romance. He definitely knows what he’s talking about, and The Notebook is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time, and yes, Keifer did cry when we watched it.” KEIFER: “I do think one of the most romantic things you can find, there is a terribly strong attachment to romance in death, especially between people who have loved each other their whole lives. So, it’s a really cool thing. We’re very proud to be a part of it.”
